| Fury is brewing at Rocky Mountain High School, in Colorado, after a multicultural student group were encouraged to recite the Pledge of Allegiance over the loudspeaker in Arabic - replacing ´one nation under God´ with ´one nation under Allah´. Following Monday´s pledge, Principal Tom Lopez has been inundated with complaints from outraged parents concerned that saying the Pledge in any language other than English is unpatriotic. Standing by his controversial decision, Principal Lopez has said that despite the irate telephone calls and emails, he is not in any way or form trying to push an

Indeed...and did they give earplugs to the gay students? Or just elicit promises nobody would be defenestrated afterwards, as the Saudis used to favor?

Wondering if the principal has gotten a head start on the pot smoking in Colorado.
Gov. Hickenlopped wants a new face for Colorado.
He can begin with this principal, next a teacher half naked on her twitter feed, smoking weed, and a general all around disregard for honor, integrity, and patriotism.

Principal Lopez sounds like one of those mad dog racist La Raza types who wants to take over the southwest and murder all the whites. He probably figures that the Islamonazis can help him achieve that goal and they can divide up the spoils.

This school allowed the pledge to be recited in Spanish and French so under that precedent, no big deal here and shame on those who are "outraged." If it was said in Arabic the quote in the headline is inaccurate. Allah is merely Arabic for God. In Spanish it would be Dios, in French Dieu.

Our God is not the god that the muslim terrorists kill for. So you can´t translate straight across. We have one God, one flag and one Constitution. If you want something different, go thru the channels to amend our Constitution or go to some desert and bow to allah.

The pledge of allegiance to the American flag, to the republic and to the one nation which it represents is being used to hyphenate America and we should be ashamed of our outrage? If I were to go to another country with the intent of becoming a citizen there, I would never dream of pledging my allegiance or singing their national anthem in anything other than their - and by choice, my - national language. Anything less would be an ugly and arrogant action.

The Islamic nations refused to endorse the 1948 UN Declaration of Human Rights. Instead they met in Cairo in 1991 and issued their own declaration. Their declaration states that there are only human rights in Islam.
There is a good reason why Sir Winston said that "Islam is the most retrograde force on earth."

The link is working just fine now, for me anyway. They discussed this on The Five today and Dana Perino didn´t have a problem with it. Sometimes she shocks me. Everyone is so excited about "celebrating diversity" that they lose sight of the outrageousness of this. They don´t think there´s anything wrong with One Nation Under Allah??? It stuns me what is now acceptable in this country.

There should be no reference to a religion in the Pledge of Allegiance at all. It wasn´t written with that in mind - in fact, there was no mention of God in the original Pledge.
Once you start adding God into things like this, you then give permission to others to add their own versions.

I was hoping to find some cogent reason for me to be outraged, but I haven´t found one here, in the comments...If, indeed, the students said, in whatever language, that they pledged their allegiance to our beloved country, I just can´t see what the problem is.

I don´t mean in a Nazis vs Communists, Hitler vs Stalin, way. I mean in a moderate way: Conservative activists vs Labour activists, you might say. It´s difficult to imagine Conservative activists behaving like the people who celebrated Margaret Thatcher´s death in Glasgow and Brixton. That´s partly because it´s hard to think of any Left-wing leader who had as powerful an effect on the country as she did. But, still, between them, Harold Wilson and Jim Callaghan – with quite a lot of help from Edward Heath – led to a disastrous decline in British fortunes in the 1970s,

While they said Obama “deserves some credit” for including entitlement reforms in his spending blueprint, they said the president shouldn’t hold the plan “hostage” in the debate over tax revenues. “While the president has backtracked on some of his entitlement reforms that were in conversations that we had a year and a half ago, he does deserve some credit for come incremental entitlement reforms that he has outlined in his budget,” Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) told reporters Wednesday

The U.S. Postal Service on Wednesday said it will delay a cost-cutting plan to end Saturday mail delivery, following congressional action that blocked the effort. Congress passed a temporary federal spending bill last month including language that prevents the agency -- which lost $15.9 billion last year -- from going to a Monday-to-Friday mail delivery schedule. The agency, which wanted to begin the new schedule Aug. 5, said the decision was made Tuesday by its board of governors. “By including restrictive language in the Continuing Resolution, Congress has prohibited implementation of a new national delivery schedule,”

President Obama´s budget plan would increase taxes by $580 billion over the next decade, but it relies on many proposals that have been repeatedly rejected by Congress. Some were rejected as recently as January, when Congress voted to make permanent a series of tax cuts first enacted under President George W. Bush. Among them, a proposal to limit itemized deductions for high-income families. One new proposal is a 94 cents-a-pack increase in the cigarette tax. The tax would raise an estimated $78 billion over the next decade to pay for early childhood education.

Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”

The sequester may have many across the country singing the blues, but for President Obama, it was all about Memphis Soul. Even with the threat of furloughs and government cuts sparked by the sequester, Obama took the time to enjoy a star-studded concert at the White House tonight. Congress and the American people need to know what happened the night of Sept. 11, 2012. Who did the killing and what was their motive? Why wasn´t help sent? And why did the administration lie about who was responsible? Members of Congress have asked hundreds of questions at hearings conducted by several investigative committees, but many of the most significant have been left unanswered. Obama said America needs to start enrolling 4-year-olds to make sure the children are “better prepared for the demands of the global economy” and to help parents save on "child-care costs." After saying the United States needs to “equip our citizens with the skills and training” to fill jobs in manufacturing, energy and infrastructure, Obama said, “And that has to start at the earliest possible age.”

Margaret Thatcher had more impact on the world than any woman ruler since Catherine the Great of Russia. Not only did she turn around—decisively—the British economy in the 1980s, she also saw her methods copied in more than 50 countries. "Thatcherism" was the most popular and successful way of running a country in the last quarter of the 20th century and into the 21st. Her origins were humble. Born Oct. 13, 1925, she was the daughter of a grocer in the Lincolnshire town of Grantham. Alfred Roberts was no ordinary shopkeeper.
