FORT COLLINS - A Fort Collins principal stands by his decision to allow students from a multicultural group to recite the Pledge of Allegiance in Arabic on the school´s intercom. "We do say the Pledge of Allegiance on Mondays at Rocky Mountain High School," principal Tom Lopez said. Students have always said it in English. This year, a group with about 30 students approached Lopez with a request to translate and recite the pledge in other languages. "They had to go through me for approval, and I reviewed it pretty carefully," Lopez said.
Comments: I guess the positive view is that they are reciting it. s/o Amazing.
Nobody speaking the language of the Islamonazi Beast could possibly recite the Pledge. More likely they are chanting death to America and the infidels in their hate-filled tongue. I´m quite sure that´s how the Pledge translates in Arabic.
Parents who disagreed with this stunt are described by the principal as haters. That´s no surprise. Parents opposed to such PC have 3 other public high schools in Ft. Collins as possible transfer options.

Mr. Lopez appears to have stumbled upon an opportunity to stop and think, but he couldn´t be bothered.
Does MR. Lopex understand that islum demands that the kuran be read in arabick? Does Mr. Lopex understand that HE just forced Dhimmi status on his students? Does Mr. Lopez understand ANYTHING other that "I are a Union Members and I cans do whut I wants!"
More than likely the students at this school are english language challenged. All the more reason that they learn the pledge in our official language (the one it was written), and stop all this multiculti bull. The principal of this school is a supremo jackass.
#5, The pledge being recited is to the American flag. While we are a nation comprised of people from many other nations, those who left the land of their birth to come here to be Americans came because they wanted what was here - not what they left behind. Those who came here to change America into something they are more comfortable with should not be accommodated. In fact, they are cordially invited to return to the place where they are clearly more comfortable.
Diversity, or division, is a lie we have allowed the liberals to use for too long. What we need to embrace is our affinity.
The students point is diversity...ok then.guess we have to put all our road signs in 20 different languges´s...how about directions on cake mixes in t wenty different language´s...all for diversity.
If a person moves to Germany...do ya think that person learns German... This is the only country where we try to please everyone...learn to read, write and speak English if y ou are living here...nothing wrong with knowing 2 or 3 languages...but the primary spoken language in the USA is English
I have no doubt that the students and their principal mean well, just as I have no doubt -well, perhaps very little doubt- that the majority of liberals and Leftists mean well. It is unfortunate that this does not by itself always suffice.
Multiculturalism as commonly practiced at ground level is merely a self-esteem raising exercise, an expression of pity for the wretched of the earth, i.e. minorities, and a kind of psychotherapy for all concerned, minorities and majority both. There is something almost poignant about this manifestation of a fundamentally maternal and hospitable instinct. Too bad it is intellectually incoherent, self-contradictory and thus liable to produce results exactly opposite to those desired.
There is perhaps nothing in the world more inclusive than sharing and speaking the same language. The well-meaning students and their principal imagine that they are progressive by this miniature linguistic Balkanization, a principal function of which is to demonstrate that participants are tolerant, modern, sensitive and free from any taint of ethnic, racial or religious prejudice.
Arabic, of course, is a language. Islam is a totalitarian religion that rejects the modern Western separation of church and state as well as just about every other Western value. It is perfectly possible, though rather silly, to say the Pledge in Arabic and mean it. It is not possible to say it "in Islam" and mean it.
Multiculturalism is nothing more than an organized effort to dismantle and reject our own Western cultural traditions.
For decades universities have been a hotbed of leftist/Communist/Socialist indoctrination and an all-out effort to rob us of our heritage. The is just another glowing example of the America-hating university leftists in action.
The principal´s job is to ensure that his students learn English, can communicate in English, and can read English. It is, after all, a school. It is not the principal´s job to pander to every minority´s demands to change the system to their needs or liking. This does nothing but "Balkanize" us. What next? Shall we have all official government documents translated into Spanish, Arabic, Cambodian, Chinese, Polish, Russian, Somali, etc? THIS AIN´T THE FRIGGIN´ UN!
By the way, do they say "one nation under God"? Or "one nation under Allah"?
Wow, who would have thought: this is a diverse country. Wow! Gee whiz, we need more high school students pointing out the obvious.

While I can understand the Principal´s idea, I think it is wrong headed. I am sick of hyphanated Americans. We are not Irish Americand, African Americans or Hispanic Americans. We are Americans, period!! One of the things that tie us together is a common language. At least that is what my ancestors thought when they came to this country about a hundred years ago. They wanted to be Americans and were completely assimilated into American culture within a generation. Highlighting differences instead of what is similar is just plain stupid. It fosters division and exclusion, not inclusion and a sense that we are the "UNITED" States!
I guess I missed the earlier headlines when the school recited the Pledge in French and Spanish. Wonder if the paper will follow through with coverage when it´s given in German and Chinese? It´s nice to see at least one school is still reciting the Pledge. It´s also nice to see the focus on foreign languages. Believe it or not, it´s possible to support the latter without buying into the claptrap of multiculturalism. As for the comment on learning German when moving to Germany, it´s a great idea, but not really necessary, as English is taught in the schools there.
Both my children graduated from Rocky Mt. High School in Fort Collins in the late 80´s. Back then, it was not considered to be a pinnacle for academic learning. And since then, the libs from California have taken over the State. Therefore, I´m not surprised to hear about this PC.
Whether and why such gestures are bad depends on whom you ask. Some people -quite a few, it seems- think they are not bad but good. They prove something. They achieve something. Most of all, they make people FEEL better - which seems to be the principal function of liberal fantasy ideology(If it feels good, do it; make love, not war; sex, drugs and rock and roll; don´t trust anybody over 30 etc.)
As for me, I think they are bad because they are confused and largely sentimental. Instead of indulging in such easy, self-indulgent acting out and political theater, students should be challenged (and permitted!) to discuss the important issues involved. Leftist emotional groupthink seeks to short circuit the phase of critical and analytical reason and go straight to instant gratification. This is poor educational practice.
The great majority of normal people espousing and practicing multi-culti are simply trying to be friendly and hospitable and sensitive to the feelings of others. They really have not stopped to think about the question. They are just being -and feeling- nice.
They are the equivalent of Lenin´s useful bourgeois idiots for the tiny number of hard core radical Left extremists in academia who genuinely hate America and everything it stands for and for who multiculturalism is nothing but a Trojan Horse. Thus multi-culti is simultaneously a harmless expression of goodwill and a dangerous, indeed deadly enemy of America. Scott Fitzgerald said it is the test of a first rate mind to hold contradictory ideas simultaneously. I don´t have any idea what he meant by that, but this could be a case to test it.
"The men who do not become Americans and nothing else are hyphenated Americans; and there ought to be no room for them in this country. The man who calls himself an American citizen and who yet shows by his actions that he is primarily the citizen of a foreign land, plays a thoroughly mischievous part in the life of our body politic. He has no place here; and the sooner he returns to the land to which he feels his real heart-allegiance, the better it will be for every good American." --Teddy Roosevelt 12 October, 1915
I´ve said it here before and I´ll say it here again...#5 is a troll, always taking the opposite view of ours in order to purposely stir controversy, much like a HuffPo lefty! It´s been said that Fort Collins and their schools have gone commie, and after reading this incredulous, outrageous, liberal crap, I must agree. Those poor kids.
In May of 2010 while operating in southern Helmand Province, Afghanistan, as an infantryman, I was attached to a unit that was employing a female engagement team to supplement their already robust outreach campaign to the local villagers of Marjah. While the Marines—or “lioness” team—did an admirable job, it was clear that their presence in the midst of an all-male infantry company currently involved in combat operations clearly restructured the dynamic on the ground. Texas Democratic Congressmen Rubén Hinojosa and Beto O’Rourke are pushing back against efforts to further secure the U.S.-Mexico border, arguing that more migrants would die while illegally crossing the border into America. “They come here to work hard and they come here to be reunited with their families. The sad truth is that many do not make it to accomplish any of those joyful things that I just described. Many of them lose their lives in the dry cactus and mesquite-filled lands of south Texas where I come from, the area that I represent,”
Glenn Greenwald, the Guardian journalist largely responsible for the big reports on secret government surveillance in the last two months, will be testifying before Congress on these programs. There have been plenty of hearings already in which high-ranking intelligence officials have , backed by the same left-right coalition that nearly passed an amendment that would have reigned in the NSA’s surveillance scope on Wednesday. The Guardian reports the hearing was organized by Democrat Alan Grayson, and is backed by Republican Justin Amash, who introduced the aforementioned bill on the House floor. Grayson briefly explained
Anthony Weiner, Eliot Spitzer and Bob Filner may have done horrible things to the women in their lives. But they do not represent a Democratic “war on women.” That charge has been leveled by conservative groups this after new revelations emerged about New York mayoral candidate Weiner’s “sexting” activity and San Diego mayor Filner’s sexual harassment charges. ShePAC sent an email to supporters claiming “Liberal men are leading a violent war on women” and “the real war on women is coming from the left.” And the National Republican Senatorial Committee wrote in a press release, “Democrats invoke the
On Thursday, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) blistered the mainstream media for favoring Republicans who are docile and trained to parrot policy positions Democrats prefer. “There are a lot of Democrats and folks in the media who like their Republicans timid and house-trained to just sit quietly in the corner, to accept losing, and to stand for nothing," Cruz said on Sean Hannity´s radio show. Cruz said Americans are fed up with such Republicans who are no different from Democrats and offer no alternative. Hannity said Cruz was not one of those "house-trained" Republicans,
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. Meghan McCain is getting her own show on a new TV network targeting the generation of Americans known as millennials. "Raising McCain" will debut on Pivot, a general entertainment network that launches Aug. 1. It´s described as a documentary-talk series for viewers ages 15 to 34. McCain will star and serve as executive producer. The 28-year-old author and blogger told the Television Critics Association on Friday that the show lets her "be crazy, be myself and talk about issues." Comedian Jim Carrey angered many on the right with his venomous tweets against the Second Amendment as well as those who embrace it. He (much) later apologized, but hard feelings likely remain. The Ace Ventura star´s latest political tweet won´t win him any conservative fans back. Carrey commented on vandals splashing green paint on the Lincoln Memorial with a predictably left of center viewpoint: Green paint on Lincoln memorial. Republicans have been bracing for a storm ever since President Obama tapped Thomas Perez, the liberal activist head of the Justice Department´s civil rights division, to replace Hilda Solis as Labor secretary. Labeling Perez a radical, polarizing figure, Republicans held up his nomination for four months, allowing it to move forward only on July 18 as part of a deal to prevent Senate Democrats from going nuclear and changing the chamber´s voting rules. Now employers and their GOP allies in Congress worry it´s payback time. During Solis´ tenure at Labor, the department focused most of its energy on writing
Union leaders are calling on Congress and President Obama to provide a federal bailout to the city of Detroit. The executive council of the AFL-CIO, the nation’s largest labor federation, called for an “immediate infusion of federal assistance for Detroit” to be matched by Michigan, which they say has not done enough to keep the city from going through bankruptcy. “Bankruptcy must not be used as a tool to impoverish city of Detroit workers or retirees. City workers have already made severe concessions to keep the city afloat,” the executive council said in a statement.
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton did not know that her longtime aide Huma Abedin planned to speak publicly in support of her husband, New York City mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner, CNN reported Thursday. Abedin appeared alongside Weiner at a hastily arranged press conference earlier this week, after it was revealed her husband had continued to send sexually explicit pictures and texts to other women, even after resigning from Congress over similar indiscretions. But according to CNN, Abedin did not consult with Clinton — who herself has
Entertainer and civil rights activist Harry Belafonte blamed the Tea Party for increasing "racial animus" in the United States in an appearance with the Dream Defenders at the Florida State Capitol. In a response to a question from Breitbart News about the dramatic difference between black and white opinion on the George Zimmerman acquittal, Belafonte said that black Americans believed that white Americans don´t pay attentions to black issues unless they create a disturbance. Belafonte added that during the civil rights era, they fought and achieved their objectives but that he felt that progress had been rolling back.
The next time you turn on a light, ride an elevator or charge up your cell phone, you might want to thank John Toth or 86,000 others like him still working today to dig the coal that fuels 40 percent of the electricity in the most productive nation ever. Toth, a heavy-set West Virginian, toiled for over 25 years as a miner and a worker in other coal related industries. He bears the scars - short of breath and hard of hearing from loud machinery - but laments the demise of America´s most abundant source of energy.
Conservative bloggers went wild Monday when they got wind of the Congressional Black Caucus’ suggestion that President Obama pick Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee of Houston for the post of Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. Rich Cooper, avid blogger for Security Debrief, responded to the news of the Jackson Lee recommendation in a post by saying, “Apparently, it is not a joke. For reasons that baffle any sense of reality, it is a serious gesture on the part of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) to encourage President Obama to nominate Rep. Jackson Lee
There have been days since her son Ezekiel was born 11 months ago that Los Angeles mom Beth Capper has gone without food to keep up her supply. One friend was arrested for stealing some. It´s not drugs or alcohol or even baby formula that has put her in such a bind. It´s diapers. "There´s no way around buying them," said Capper, a 41-year-old single mother who doesn´t work because of a disability. Across the country, mothers like Capper are facing the same predicament. According to a report published Monday in the
America is in great shape energy-wise. We have more gas and oil reserves than ever before. Indeed, the United States could shortly become the world’s largest exporter of coal. Our cheaper power rates may bring energy-intensive industry back from Europe and Asia. Gotta figure her lead would be even bigger without Joe Miller in the field here. Her nomination for the taking? Alaska should be a top tier pick up opportunity for Senate Republicans next year…but their top choice of a candidate is Sarah Palin. 36% of GOP primary voters in the state say they’d like Palin to be their standard bearer against Mark Begich to 26% for Mead Treadwell, 15% for Dan Sullivan, and 12% for Joe Miller.
In an interview on National Public Radio (NPR), House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said her new agenda for women will give mothers access to day care so they can “earn without carrying the burden of child care.” During the interview, aired on Weekend Edition Sunday, Pelosi spoke about her newly announced agenda, which is on her website, and is titled, “When Women Succeed, America Succeeds: An Economic Agenda for Women and Families,” a plan that includes universal pre-school and access to day care for working women, and an increase in the minimum wage.
Many low-income families receive government assistance to help them purchase food and housing. Diapers are another story, a new study suggests. In what they are calling the first peer-reviewed study to quantify diaper need, Yale University researchers have found nearly a third of mothers cannot afford to purchase their infants diapers, raising health risks for not only babies but for moms who become stressed over the finances. "Notably absent from the antipoverty efforts targeting families is an essential staple for the health of children, diapers," wrote the researchers, led by Dr. Megan Smith,
Mideast: The sequester has "cost jobs," says President Obama, and "gutted investments in education and science and medical research." But somehow he´s earmarked $500 million for Hamas terrorists. Circumventing Congress and with no fanfare, President Obama last week issued an executive order enabling him to send an additional $500 million directly to the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank — much of which you can bet will wind up going to the Iranian-backed Hamas terrorist organization. According to Obama, "it is important to the national security interests of the United States to waive the provisions of" Congress´ legislative restrictions "in
The mother of Trayvon Martin said Monday that she believed Florida’s Stand Your Ground law played a role in her son’s shooting death, but she wasn’t ready to support a boycott of the state for not changing the self-defense law. “The thing about this law is I just think it assisted the person who killed my son to get away with murder,” Sybrina Fulton, the mother of the 17-year-old from Miami Gardens, said at a National Bar Association event in Miami Beach. “I think we have to change these laws so people don’t get

Karl Rove and more than one hundred Republican donors sent a letter to Republican members of Congress on Tuesday, urging them to pass a comprehensive immigration reform bill that would include, among other provisions, granting "legal status" to illegal aliens who meet certain criteria. Anticipating that lawmakers will face resistance to the bill when they go home for the August recess, the letter marks the escalation of a campaign in which Republican leaders and donors are pressuring House Republicans to act on an immigration reform bill.
I never thought the Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman case deserved nearly the attention it got. But reasonable people can disagree about that. What strikes me as unconscionable, however, is the way the supposedly objective media have not only sensationalized a tragedy but at times appear to deliberately bend the facts to fit a desired story line. Maybe it started with the use of pictures of a younger Martin or with the sudden embrace of the term "white Hispanic" to describe Zimmerman in order to more easily paint him as a racist. NBC News was the most egregious offender
