Enough of This Glumness

| Conservatives are still glum about the election, and the upper hand President Obama seems to have over Republicans. But the political stage has been framed far worse for conservatives and Republicans in the past. In 1964, conservatives and Republicans were annihilated, when the conservative leader Barry Goldwater was crushed in the election by more than 20 points. Democrats held 295 House seats to 140 for the Republicans, and in the Senate, Democrats held a filibuster proof 67 seats, to 33 for the Republicans. This just 19 years after FDR had dominated American politics for a generation. The Republicans seemed dead,

Apparently this author thinks that we are upset that the GOP didn´t pick up more seats. The people I know are upset that the members of the GOP who are currently in the house and senate don´t seem to have a backbone or know how to stop an administration that is abusing their power and destroying our country in the process. Just said to my husband, we are now in a country that looks very little like the one we had just four years ago. My word people, never mind your "feelings.:

Good read again by Peter Ferrara, whole laundry list of things the Republicans can do to slice up obama and Dems.
Many here might quickly dismiss most if not all of these bright spots of sunshine "not gonna happen". Uhhuh, but the stock market continues to climb. Yeah, FED easing, injecting $80Bill/month. But seems the very smart money is comfortable with stocks. They like the future.
Maybe obama has met his Waterloo. Not predicting, just saying maybe.

Here is why we are glum. Anyone with a tenth of a brain knows that he will get to pick several Supreme Court Justices in the next 4 years. Look at his picks so far.
When that loose end is tied up the Constitution will be scrapped to the point that we will not recognize it. He will continue to flood the country with people who only want to get here and sign up for the government cheese.
You want glum, I´ll show you glum!

Why are we glum? The Senate vote on Fn Kerry shows you why. And #3 has it right about the Supremes.
My friend in the tax prep business has dealt with "low information" voters all week who can´t understand why they can´t get their $8,000 IRS check by Friday.
They make just enough money as a waitress to meet the max EITC.
He tells them "Obama´s stash" is empty, that´s why they have to wait till Feb 20. LOL.

Why be glum? If the Republicans manage to get something through that works, the regime will take credit. If they don´t, they will get the blame for everything that happens. And as long as the education system keeps pumping out lofos who believe the media, that´s the way it´s going to be.

Mr. Ferrara is conflating our ´glumness´ with the loss of an election, not the truth as we see it.........
We lost the Country.
Sir, we are well and truly living through history. Just like the Brits have plenty of octogenarians who watched as Britannia went UNDER the waves, we are now watching over half the Country ignore our demise and focus instead on free stuff and "The X Factor".
THAT is why we are ´glum´.

I get it that when the Feds dump huge amounts of cash into the economy that the price of everything goes up....but......just exactly how does this money get into the hands of the stock market speculators who keep bidding up the DOW.
And....where can I go to get some of it ???
You can speculate in Real Estate with mortgage money but how do you finance stocks without personal capital ?
What´s going on here ?

Did anyone see the ‘2nd Bill of Rights’ on FoxNews this morning. ‘The right to a productive job,’ The right to a house,’ the right to medical services’ are among them. Apparently Roosevelt tried to pass something similar to this in the thirties. About the same time the Soviet Union was writing its Constitution. And…surprise! They are pretty much the same! This turn to Socialism has taken a few years…but it’s in its’ final stages now.

In 1964 the democrats were still patriotic Americans. Today, they´re just a bunch of anti-liberty totalitarians who want to turn us into a third world country.

Most Americans — even those who are legislators — know very little about the details of President Obama´s Affordable Care Act, so-called Obamacare. Next year, when it goes into effect, we will learn the hard way. Many people lazily assume that the law will do roughly what it promises: give insurance to the uninsured and lower the cost of health care by limiting spending on dubious procedures. Don´t count on it. Consider just the complexity: The act itself is more than 906 pages long, and again and again in those 906 pages are the words,

Conservatives are talking about the implementation of Obamacare in the same thoughtful way they talked about its enactment—that is, as an impending apocalypse. It won’t be, as I´ve noted previously. Most Americans get insurance through employers, Medicare, and Medicaid, and that will still be the case on January 1, when Obamacare’s big provisions take effect. But the minority who buy insurance on their own or have no insurance will see tremendous changes. And you don’t have to be Rush Limbaugh to have real concerns about how those changes will play out.

If the three-strikes rule were in effect, President Obama would be heading for the dugout, bat in hand. First the alleged Benghazi cover-up, then the kerfuffle about the I.R.S. targeting conservative groups, and now the revelation that earlier this year the Justice Department secretly seized two months of phone records involving editors and reporters at the Associated Press. Among the many questions that the phone-records story raises are these two very basic ones: What were they thinking? And who, precisely, were they? In scrubbing the Benghazi talking points of any mention of Al Qaeda-linked terrorists or prior warnings

This past Saturday night, the true crime show 48 Hours on CBS brought on a law enforcement expert who commented on the case at hand. Yet it struck me he had inadvertently offered a disturbing insight into Barack Obama and the Benghazi scandal. (Snip)The main suspect is now in prison for a drug-related crime, where he cooperated with the FBI investigation. 48 Hours asked the expert, a retired agent, to analyze the inmate’s responses. TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif.—U.S. Marines are taught to overcome obstacles with a minimum of help. But when some Marines prepared to charge a hill in a training exercise here a few months ago, they were forced to halt and radio the one man who could help them advance: Brian Henen, turtle expert. The troops were "running up the hill and firing at targets," Mr. Henen said. "Some of the tortoises like the hill also. The Marines don´t want to hurt the tortoise, so they call us and we go in and move it." Mr. Henen, who has a doctorate in biology,

President Barack Obama says he wants to “see if we can institutionalize” in Washington the community spirit that sometimes emerges after a terror attack or an industrial explosion. The president made the comments during a fund-raising trip to New York, shortly after leaving Washington, D.C. in an uproar over an explosion of scandals, including last week’s revelations of politically motivated IRS investigations and the White House’s editing of reports on the lethal terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya. Shortly after Obama flew north, D.C. was rocked by another political explosion when the Associated Press said the Justice Department

In a news conference declaration reminiscent of Captain Renault´s memorable words in "Casablanca" -- "I am shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here!" -- President Obama expressed dismay at the IRS´ targeting of conservative Tea Party groups. The chief executive described himself as "offended" by such practices, vowed not to "tolerate" them, and said those responsible must be held accountable because "the IRS as an independent agency requires absolute integrity and people have to have confidence that they apply laws in a nonpartisan way." ‘Thank you for that question,” White House spokesman Jay Carney said feebly when, early in Friday’s press conference, the issue of Benghazi was raised. And then he reflexively tried to recruit the questioner to his side. Look, Carney insisted, those darned Republicans are involved in an “ongoing attempt to politicize a tragedy that took four American lives.” We’re not going to fall into their trap and ask questions of the administration, are we? We’re not like those other outlets that are engaged in a “pattern of spreading misinformation.” Right, guys? Evidently, Carney had not yet realized

Entertainment mogul Harvey Weinstein and his fashion designer wife Georgina Chapman will host an intimate fundraising reception Monday night at the producer’s Manhattan abode headlined by President Barack Obama. The New York Post first reported on the fundraiser last month. The president will attend two DNC events during his visit to New York City, according to the White House schedule. Weinstein was one of Obama’s most prolific fundraisers during the 2012 campaign cycle, bundling more than $500,000 for the president’s reelection effort in addition to more than $80,000 in contributions to Democratic candidates and committess.

Journalists on Monday called the news the Justice Department seized records from phone lines assigned to Associated Press offices and its reporters over a two month period “chilling” and a “dragnet to intimidate the media.” The AP reported the Justice Dept. obtained records that listed incoming and outgoing calls and the duration of those calls for work and personal phone numbers of AP reporters and phone lines for AP offices in New York, Hartford, Conn. and Washington, as well as the main number for AP reporters in the House of Representatives press gallery. As the IRS scandal piled on to the Obama administration’s already mounting oversight problems, wary Democrats gave early indications that they may not stand in lockstep with the White House on its latest looming investigations. And this even before news broke that the Justice Department secretly obtained two months’ worth of Associated Press phone records, mortifying free-press advocates. Sen. Carl Levin (D-Mich.), chairman of the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, on Friday called for a probe into IRS criteria used for nonprofit organizations. Today, as the storm grew over the IRS targeting of the Tea Party and other conservative groups,

To no one’s surprise, it is already evident that the Obama administration has been lying about the scope of the IRS’s harassment of conservative-leaning non-profits. The Washington Post has obtained documents that show the anti-conservative effort was directed from Washington, D.C., and was not a rogue operation out of the agency’s Cincinnati office, as the administration has claimed: Internal Revenue Service officials in Washington and at least two other offices were involved in the targeting of conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status, making clear the effort reached well beyond the

In a sweeping and unusual move, the Justice Department secretly obtained two months of telephone records of journalists working for the Associated Press as part of a year-long investigation into the disclosure of classified information about a failed al-Qaeda plot last year. President Obama was asked about the metastasizing Benghazi scandal in a joint news conference with British Prime Minister David Cameron on Monday. Referring to the Americans who died in Benghazi, the president said, "We dishonor them when we turn things like this into a political circus." He added that "the whole issue of talking points, throughout this process, frankly, has been a sideshow.… There´s no there there." He´s half right. Fox News is reporting his recusal comes partially because Holder has testified about potential national security leaks surrounding a May 7, 2012 Associated Press story. Yesterday, the Associated Press revealed the Department of Justice had been secretly monitoring both the personal and work phones of numerous AP editors and reporters. DOJ responded to these revelations by releasing the following

The GOP majority in the House is reaching for new heights of political absurdity this week with its 37th vote to kill all or part of the Affordable Care Act. Let us briefly turn to political reality. There is absolutely zero chance that ObamaCare will be repealed while Democrats control the Senate and President Obama is in the White House. Reality also compels some mention of the fact that the GOP has never held a vote on any alternative plan for dealing with the nation’s out-of-control healthcare spending. But reality is a nuisance to Congressional Republicans

All you need to do is look at the bottom line to see that Limbaugh is in trouble. Limbaugh once raked in the big bucks for his radio syndicator, Cumulus. But last week, Cumulus CEO Lew Dickey made it clear those days are over. Dickey reported that Cumulus had lost millions of dollars in ad sales because many advertisers no longer want to be associated with Limbaugh.
