An Elmwood Park man pleaded guilty on Tuesday to conspiring with his brother to violate federal election law by steering $21,400 in illegal campaign contributions to U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez. Benedetto Bigica, 45, admitted that he worked with his brother, Joseph, of Franklin Lakes, from April 2005 to April 2008 to make the illegal contributions, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman said. As part of the scheme, Benedetto Bigica, an owner and president of Open MRI and Imaging-Newark, agreed to serve as a straw contributor along with two other family members for Joseph Bigica, who then reimbursed them for their

A few weeks ago, this cretin had the gall to answer my question about his stance on gun control with "I´ve always supported the second ammendment". So I called his office and spoke to two people, asking both just how does he "support the second ammendment?" Still awaiting an answer.
At least he bothers to answer, unlike the other NJ slug, Lautenburg.

This confession supports Menendez´ contention that he didn´t stiff those underage prostitutes. He had plenty of illegal cash on him.

So lay off him - - he paid those little girls IN FULL!

A University of Virginia student arrested by Alcoholic Beverage Control agents who wrongly believed she´d illegally bought beer when in fact she only had bottled water is seeking $40 million in a lawsuit filed Tuesday. Elizabeth K. Five of the six family members — including two toddlers — injured in a house explosion on Detroit’s east side Thursday night are still recovering after suffering severe burns from the fire that leveled the house. Meanwhile Friday, investigators were puzzling out who may have illegally hooked up the stove to a gas line, with suspicions pointing not to the family living there but someone else. Louisville, Ky. — Metro Police say two suspects have been arrested in connection with last weekend´s violence in downtown Louisville. Shaquazz Allen, 18, and 19-year-old Tyrone Booker are charged with seven counts of first degree unlawful imprisonment, and one count each of fourth degree assault and third degree criminal mischief. Police say both men face charges stemming from an attack in which a woman was punched in the eye after she was dragged out from her car. It happened when she, her fiancé and five children were stopped in their vehicle at First and Jefferson Streets. Police arrested Allen at

It may surprise some Americans to learn that almost one-quarter of the people living in Switzerland are foreigners. Even so, just over 50 percent voted last month to cap immigration, which, unchecked, could leave indigenous Swiss a minority in 50 years. Newsweek´s headline over the story was typical: "Switzerland´s Sudden Fear of Immigrants." Fear. Immigrants. The German publication Spiegel Online wrote also about "scaremongering." The enlightened reader´s thought-bubble is now supposed to register the word "racism." But was it really "fear of immigrants" -- read: "racism" -- that drove sufficient numbers of Swiss to the polls to check their own

US consumer spending

Washington — Americans barely increased their spending in February following a weak January performance, strong evidence that the severe winter will hold back the economy in the first quarter. Consumer spending rose 0.3 percent in February following an even weaker 0.2 percent rise in January, the Commerce Department reported Friday. The January performance was cut in half from an initial estimate of 0.4 percent. For February, spending on autos and other durable goods actually fell and much of the small gain reflected higher utility payments to pay heating costs. Analysts said consumer spending, which accounts for 70 percent of economic activity, has

As the corruption investigation of former Charlotte Mayor Patrick Cannon went back underground Thursday, a nagging question hung over his embarrassed city: Couldn’t this have been known before he was elected mayor in November? According to an affidavit released this week, the FBI became aware of possible illegal activity of then-City Council member Cannon as early as August 2010. By the time Cannon was sworn as the city’s top elected leader, undercover agents posing as real estate developers had flown him and his wife to Las Vegas and paid him almost $30,000 in bribes, prosecutors say. As part of its plan to reduce U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, the Obama administration is targeting the dairy industry to reduce methane emissions in their operations. This comes despite falling methane emission levels across the economy since 1990. The White House has proposed cutting methane emissions from the dairy industry by 25 percent by 2020. Although U.S. agriculture only accounts for about 9 percent of the country’s greenhouse gas emissions, according to the Environmental Protection Agency, it makes up a sizeable portion of methane emissions — which is a very potent greenhouse gas. Some of these methane emissions come from

After a disastrous presidential campaign in 2012, can Texas Governor Rick Perry mount a credible bid for the White House in 2016? Texas Governor Rick Perry is currently on a media tour touting the theme that America is a great place for second chances, specifically second chances for Texas governors with national ambitions. Perry is trying to erase the memory of his disastrous 2012 GOP presidential campaign which included “brain-farts” and “oops” debate moments with his folksy, charming, and uniquely American manner. Las Vegas - Many of the Republican Party’s most powerful insiders and financiers have begun a behind-the-scenes campaign to draft former Florida governor Jeb Bush into the 2016 presidential race, courting him and his intimates and starting talks on fundraising strategy. Concerned that the George Washington Bridge traffic scandal has damaged New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s political standing and alarmed by the steady rise of Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.), prominent donors, conservative leaders and longtime operatives say they consider Bush the GOP’s brightest hope to win back the White House.
