Can´t stand his voice, so was thinking of reading this. Five pages. No.

All the way to ´Vegas on our hard-earned and sorely-needed nickels. Shame on him.

Sick and tired of his showboating. An insult to the intelligence of many of the American people.

Other than boosting Democratic voter registration, exactly why do 11 million illegal aliens deserve a "clear path to citizenship"? How about a clear path back south?

I´m sure his (democrats) plan is too give imigrants, legal or not, everything for free and a given right to vote.....They´ll be in forever.

Reply 5 - Posted by: bighambone, 1/29/2013 8:28:48 PM     (No. 9147326)

It´s just not true that for immigration reform to work that the Congress must set up a special path to citizenship for illegal aliens. That´s never be done before, not even for all the many millions of legal immigrants who have come here over two centuries.

The former President of Mexico Vicente Fox used to often say that Mexicans living and working in the US are proud to be Mexicans, and only want the US Government to provide them with an immigration status, and not US citizenship, that allows them to stay here and work with dignity and to be able to travel back and forth to Mexico as they wish.

The only reason that Obama and the liberal Democrats want to rush the 11 to 20 million illegal aliens to US citizenship is because they know that about 80% of those poor, generally uneducated people, who earn low wages, and have large families will need access to all the US social safety net welfare programs along with "free" health care and will therefore vote for liberal Democrats who say they want to expand those programs, rather then the Republicans who want to contract those welfare programs.

The Republicans should go along with a conditional immigration status for longtime illegal aliens that allows them to stay, work, receive protection from all US laws, and travel internationally in and out of the US for as long as they abide by the immigration laws. If an alien with conditional status wishes to become a permanent resident the precursor status that all legal immigrants must attain before they can apply for US citizenship he or she must first qualify for an immigrant visa as all legal immigrants are also required to do.

One day in early February, I met Anthony Weiner and Huma Abedin for breakfast at the Gramercy Park Hotel, one of their regular joints, just a few blocks from their apartment on Park Avenue South. The first thing Weiner said when I sat down was that their 13-month-old son, Jordan, had just moments ago taken his first step. They were both giddy, kvelling with baby-pride, especially Weiner, who, with all his free time, has become his son’s primary caretaker. This is what life is like now for the man whose

What Does Obama Think

It seems very odd that President Obama has made gun control the signature issue of his second term, so far. He can’t possibly achieve any significant legislation; a few tweaks to the background check system, maybe, but there is no chance of getting any meaningful gun control through the House. The House Democrats aren’t even trying. So it also seems strange that all eyes are on the Senate, where Harry Reid will unveil some sort of gun legislation–no one knows what, exactly–on Thursday. The party’s left-wing base is lining up behind the bill, sight unseen.

West Virginia Democratic Sen. Jay Rockefeller, one of the towering architects of Obamacare, on Tuesday openly criticized program managers for not moving quickly enough to build the system, warning that if it gets off to a bumpy start it will just get worse. Decrying the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act as way too complex, he warned the acting Medicare director that Obamacare is "so complicated and if it isn´t done right the first time, it will just simply get worse."

NATIONAL HARBOR, Md.--The Navy´s top officer unveiled new technology Monday that allows ships to shoot down drones or other vehicles for about the cost of a pack of gum. The USS Dewey tested an onboard laser weapons system in July 2012, in which it successfully shot down a test drone. Navy Adm. Jonathan Greenert, the chief of Naval Operations, screened video of the event while speaking at the Sea-Air-Space expo. The Laser Weapon System or LaWS only costs roughly $1 per shot and could be employed against fast attack ships or even be used in the future for missile defense.

A New York judge yesterday blasted federal “sequestration” cuts, calling it “stunning” that they could force him to delay the start of a terrorism trial for Osama bin Laden’s son-in-law. Manhattan federal Judge Lewis Kaplan appeared flabbergasted when a defense lawyer for Sulaiman Abu Ghaith said mandatory work furloughs would make it “very difficult to be ready” for trial by September. Kaplan began calling the situation “ironic” before noting that was “not exactly the right word.” “It’s extremely troublesome to contemplate the possibility of a case of this nature being delayed by sequestration,” Kaplan said.

Over the weekend, the Saddleback Valley Community Church announced the sad news that Pastor Rick Warren‘s youngest son, Matthew, committed suicide at the age of 27, after a long struggle with mental illness. On Monday, Megyn Kelly‘s panel took on some of the “despicable” reaction that followed — questioning why the pastor isn’t afforded basic compassion by some of his critics. Noting the “shocking” and “disgusting” vitriol directed at the pastor following the news, Kelly declined to “give a voice to the haters.” Father Jonathan Morris, a Fox News contributor, agreed, deeming the attacks “ridiculous,” “tasteless,” and simply “very sad.”

Bernard Anderson, a pathbreaking African-American economist, understands the importance of rhetoric. He was up front at the Lincoln Memorial when Martin Luther King Jr. gave his historic “I Have a Dream” speech in 1963. And he was in the audience on the Howard University campus in 1965 to hear President Johnson deliver a grim view of the state of black America and declare war on “past injustice and present prejudice.” So Anderson had high hopes as he sat at home in Pennsylvania watching President Obama deliver his second Inaugural Address this year.

The sequester may have many across the country singing the blues, but for President Obama, it was all about Memphis Soul. Even with the threat of furloughs and government cuts sparked by the sequester, Obama took the time to enjoy a star-studded concert at the White House tonight. The White House celebration of Memphis Soul music in the East Room--which included special guest appearances by Queen Latifah and Justin Timberlake--is likely to rile Obama´s Republican foes. Some conservatives have called on Obama to give up golf, especially since popular public tours of the White House have been canceled because of

In the message he issued along with his budget proposal on Wednesday morning, President Barack Obama said he wants to see 4-year-old children in the United States enrolled in public schools. Obama said America needs to start enrolling 4-year-olds to make sure the children are “better prepared for the demands of the global economy” and to help parents save on "child-care costs." After saying the United States needs to “equip our citizens with the skills and training” to fill jobs in manufacturing, energy and infrastructure, Obama said, “And that has to start at the earliest possible age.”

Although the first votes on gun -control legislation have yet to be cast, by some measures the National Rifle Association has already won. Obama’s ambitious plans to ban assault weapons and limit magazine capacities are off the table, while the NRA suggested it could support the most likely outcome -- expanded background checks -- as recently as 1999. The NRA claims that the president’s efforts have triggered a fundraising surge and boosted its membership from 4 million to nearly 5 million.

The state of California is reportedly considering legislation that would force group insurance policies to provide infertility treatment for gay and lesbian couples. Two men who have sex with each other for a year and do not produce a baby would be considered “infertile” under the proposed legislation. So would two women having sex. Since biology does not allow those without a uterus to conceive or those without a penis to impregnate, every year-long gay couple in California would potentially be covered by this new provision of California law.
