Conservative Hispanic group
tells GOP to avoid ‘amnesty’ label

Yahoo News, by Liz Goodwin

Original Article

Posted By:mambo 5, 1/29/2013 2:08:30 PM

A conservative pro-immigration reform group has issued talking points to Republican lawmakers, telling them to avoid referring to the U.S. citizen children of illegal immigrants as "anchor babies" or calling for the construction of an "electric fence" on the border, among other things. (Snip) The memo urges lawmakers to call them "undocumented immigrants" and to avoid terms such as "aliens" or "illegals," which are seen as offensive and dehumanizing. Another phrase to avoid? "Send them all back."
Link repaired and Snip added by staff.

Comments:
Can we call them law breakers? Or should they be non abiding immigrants that should be in jail.

George Bush, in 2007, repeatedly insisted that the Kennedy-McCain plan ´´not an amnesty´´. He fooled no one.

And that´s when he lost me. Either he was stupid or a liar. In hindsight I might have even voted for Kerry (OK, probably not - but maybe Ralph Nader).

Second terms are almost always a disaster as the mistakes of the first term come to fruition.

And this group expects us to take them seriously??

Illegal immigrants and anchor babies are not the same you morons!! Although you can use both the phrases in the same sentence, illegal immigrant women come into this country to have anchor babies, who by virtue of being born in the US become "native born citizens".

Let me also remind you idiots....you can couch in whatever terms you want to use.....they are illegal because they entered without proper legal documentation.

Abide by the laws we have on the books now and they will go home by themselves, to make their country better! Open Alaskan oil drilling and put an oil pipeline on the boarder ( Cal to Texas) and the oil companies will pay for a fence to protect it!

Nor is amnesty for 11-20 million law-breaking residents a conservative principle -- I don´t care how much makeup you put on it. How stupid do you think we are?

Chicago picked as site for

Chicago will be the site of a digital manufacturing institute backed by $70 million in federal money and another $250 million in private and other government funding, giving the city, once a factory town, a better chance to re-establish its credentials as a modern maker of things. The decision, to be announced officially Tuesday by President Barack Obama, was hotly anticipated by city and state officials who recognized the opportunity to jump-start high-tech manufacturing as a core component of Chicago’s economic vision.

President Obama said Saturday that he believed that the chances of a final, comprehensive nuclear agreement being struck with Iran are less than 50-50. However, Obama defended the interim deal struck between the U.S., Iran, and five other world powers last month in Geneva, saying that diplomacy had to be tested as a solution to the crisis and was the best way to prevent Tehran from acquiring automatic weapons. "If you ask me what is the likelihood that we´re able to arrive at the end state ... I wouldn´t say that it´s more than 50-50," Obama said. "But we have to try."

The self-employed single mother was cited last month as an ObamaCare success story by President Obama in the Rose Garden. But according to Washington State Wire, she´s now finding out she doesn´t qualify for the tax credits she was originally told she´d get. Sanford, who told the news site she hasn´t had health insurance in 15 years, initially said she was excited by the prospect of purchasing a policy for her and her son under ObamaCare. France and Mexico have angrily demanded prompt explanations from Washington following fresh, "shocking" spying allegations leaked by former US security contractor Edward Snowden. The reports in French daily Le Monde and German weekly Der Spiegel revealed that the National Security Agency secretly recorded tens of millions of phone calls in France and hacked into former Mexican President Felipe Calderon´s email account. French Interior Minister Manuel Valls described the revelations in Le Monde newspaper as "shocking", in an interview Monday with Europe 1 radio.

ObamaCare may have its skeptics, but one group is decidedly optimistic -- prison inmates. "At least 50 percent of the [prison] population has symptoms of mental health disorders," said Brad Brockmann, executive director of the Center for Prisoner Health and Human Rights at Brown University. "With Medicaid expansion, we have an incredible opportunity to take care of the very neediest, the very poorest while freeing up huge amounts of money within the states through not having to provide that care in correctional settings."

President Obama has made many promises about his signature health care plan, but one of the simplest was an assurance that it would lower national health care spending and save every family thousands of dollars. For example, in May 2009 he hailed "comprehensive health care reform -- so that we can do what I pledged to do as a candidate and save a typical family an average of $2,500 on their health care costs in the coming years." But now government actuaries have reached a different conclusion, finding that ObamaCare will actually increase health care spending by $621 billion over the next

A federal grand jury on Wednesday indicted Quinshaunta R. Golden — a onetime top aide to Dr. Eric E. Whitaker, one of President Barack Obama’s closest friends — on bribery, theft and fraud charges, accusing her of embezzling about $433,000 in state health department funds. The money from the kickback scheme began flowing to Golden in July 2007, when Whitaker headed the Illinois Department of Public Health, and Golden was his chief of staff, the indictment alleges. It allegedly kept flowing until October 2008, by which time Golden and Whitaker had left state government

Around the same time the nation was transfixed on the hunt for the Boston Marathon bombers last month, thieves on the other side of the country pulled off a little-noticed heist -- swiping 559 pounds of explosives from a federal storage facility in Montana. As of Friday, not one ounce of it has been found. The incident, federal officials believe, was not terrorism-related. But it´s the latest to raise security concerns in an age when authorities are warning about the desire of violence-bent terrorists to inflict mass casualties with bombs.

President Obama found himself weathering bipartisan broadsides Wednesday as he sent Congress his 2014 budget proposal, which in its effort to please both sides of the aisle has ended up angering both. The budget arrived on Capitol Hill Wednesday morning, delivered 65 days after the legal deadline. The $3.77 trillion spending plan, which is over 2,000 pages, tries to curb deficits by further raising taxes on top earners and reining in the growth of Social Security.

House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa joined Megyn Kelly Thursday night to react to the uproar over him cutting off Elijah Cummings‘ mic during a contentious IRS hearing, saying that accusations he was “racist” are just “beneath response.” Issa suggested Cummings’ outburst was a “pre-staged event,” but Kelly asked, “Who cares? Let him have his couple of minutes to rip on you! You’re a big guy, you can take it!” He acknowledged that in hindsight, he might have let Cummings rant, but it’s completely unjustified for any member of Congress to try and get his chairmanship revoked over the incident

So, Lois Lerner still won´t talk about her role in the illegal targeting and harassment by the IRS of conservative and Tea Party groups seeking 501(c)(4) tax exemptions. Lerner appeared for a second time Wednesday before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and claimed her Fifth Amendment right not to incriminate herself. It isn´t hard to figure out why Lerner´s lips are sealed. First, she knows the House of Representatives can cite her for contempt of Congress, but Attorney General Eric Holder would decide whether she is prosecuted on that charge. Via Matt Lewis, here’s Maverick once again demonstrating that “cordial relationship” in politico-speak means “two people who can’t publicly admit to hating each other but obviously do.” And it’s a cheap shot. Cruz’s point yesterday at CPAC was that Dole, McCain, and Romney lost because they weren’t conservative enough. That’s not because they’re gutless — he said specifically that they were “good” and “decent” men — but because they’re not committed, full-throated ideologues, even less so when they’re fighting for purple states in a national election. We can debate whether that’s true but there’s nothing offensive in raising the subject.

What’s been said of confession — that it is good for one’s soul but bad for one’s reputation — can also be true of testifying to Congress, so Lois Lerner has chosen to stay silent. Hers, however, is an eloquent silence. The most intrusive and potentially most punitive federal agency has been politicized; the IRS has become an appendage of Barack Obama’s party. Furthermore, congruent with exhortations from some congressional Democrats, it is intensifying its efforts to suffocate groups critical of progressives, by delaying what once was the swift, routine granting of tax-exempt status. So, the IRS, far from repenting

One of the most seismic changes in American politics over the last decade has been the emergence of a sharp generational split among the electorate. The Democratic Party owes its success in the last two presidential elections almost entirely to overwhelming support among the very young, which has overcome continued conservatism among older voters. The Pew Research Institute has dominated the field of exploring the ideological cleavages among different generations. And its latest survey shows again how the liberalism of the youngest voting cohort, millennials, remains firm, and likely to continue to recast the electorate. A few charts from the survey
