Clock Ticks Down On Execution Of
Texas Women’s Death Row Inmate

KWTX-TV [Waco, TX], by Staff

Original Article

Posted By:LittleHoodedMonk, 1/29/2013 11:23:41 AM

Huntsville - Texas prison officials were preparing Tuesday for the execution women’s death row inmate Kimberly McCarthy, who’s scheduled to die just after 6 p.m. for the July 1997 murder of a retired college professor during a robbery. (Snip) McCarthy was convicted and sentenced to death in November 1998 for the July 21, 1997 murder of her neighbor, Dorothy Booth, 71, at Booth’s home in Lancaster. Evidence showed McCarthy went to Booth’s home on the pretense of borrowing sugar and then stabbed the retired professor five times and hit her in the face with a candelabrum.

Comments:
A totally senseless robbery and murder. McCarthy is also linked to two other murders. She´ll be executed the humane way by lethal injection, without guns.

16 yrs. I believe in the death penalty to enforce a standard. There are certain heinous crimes that no civilized society should tolerate. They require the ultimate punishment, in a timely manner. 16 yrs is ridiculous.

#3: Normally I would agree with you, but I lived in Chicago at the time several high profile death row cases were rightfully overturned. One man had been on death row for 15 years for killing a cop. The thing was, he was in the drunk tank at the police station when the cop was killed elsewhere. The corruption and incompetence of the public defenders system and of the police department would have seen this innocent man killed and made the executioner into a murderer.

The other case involved outright false testimony and four people were freed from death row for a crime they had nothing to do with. They´d been there for over ten years as well. I have to thank the Lord they had the time to be exonerated.

I don´t feel the least bit sorry on this execution. What this woman did was worse than any animal would have done had it gone hunting humans.

found this in another story about this woman...

McCarthy is the wife of Aaron Michaels, the founder of the New Black Panther Party, which he describes as a self-help group for African-Americans and poor people. They were married in 1993 and have a 5-year-old son. Michaels, whose legal name is McCarthy, filed for divorce in 1996 and the couple separated before Booth´s slaying.

Rise in violence
´linked to climate change´

Shifts in climate are strongly linked to increases in violence around the world, a study suggests. US scientists found that even small changes in temperature or rainfall correlated with a rise in assaults, rapes and murders, as well as group conflicts and war. The team says with the current projected levels of climate change, the world is likely to become a more violent place. The study is published in Science. (Snip) Their examples include an increase in domestic violence in India during recent droughts, and a spike in assaults, rapes and murders during heatwaves in the US.

Al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri has vowed in a video released Wednesday to break out Muslim prisoners from US penitentiaries and the heavily fortified compound for terrorist suspects at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The blustery threat to retaliate for US "crimes" against al-Qaeda warriors was probably inspired by recent attacks on prisons in Iraq, Libya and Pakistan that freed more than 2000 detainees, many of them allied with the global terrorism network that has been headed by Mr al-Zawahiri since the 2011 assassination of its founder, Osama bin Laden.

Most fishermen are guilty of the odd photobrag, but none can match this bloke´s cockiness. The Victorian fisherman celebrated catching a huge shark by climbing inside the gutted fish, poking his arm through its gills and posing for a joke shot with his knife buried between its eyes. In a world where every angler is pictured next to his prize catch with a thumbs up, it´s becoming increasingly difficult for intrepid fishermen to stand out. But this guy - let´s call him the Shark Slayer - certainly managed it. ´Arch´, who works at the Metung Hotel in Gippsland, was present when the photo was taken.

In a significant victory for law enforcement, a federal appeals court on Tuesday said that government authorities could extract historical location data directly from telecommunications carriers without a search warrant. The closely watched case, in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, is the first ruling that squarely addresses the constitutionality of warrantless searches of historical location data stored by cellphone service providers. Ruling 2 to 1, the court said a warrantless search was “not per se unconstitutional” because location data was “clearly a business record”

Three former high-ranking Penn State officials, including the university’s former president, Graham B. After a two-day preliminary hearing this week, Harrisburg District Judge William Werner decided there was enough evidence against Spanier, the retired university vice president Gary Schultz and the former athletic director Tim Curley to proceed with a trial, which could start later this year.

Anti-Christian extremist groups like the ACLU, the Freedom From Religion Foundation and People for the American Way hate God. They also hate America. True America. These "progressive" outfits - along with like-minded politicos, judges, Hollywood elitists and left-wing media-types - hate that this great nation was expressly founded upon the bedrock precepts of the Judeo-Christian tradition. And so, in response, they lash out. They endeavor first to raze our God-blessed America, and then raise, from the rubble, a godless America fashioned in their own secular-socialist self-image.

The United States will temporarily shut down its embassies and consulates around the world Sunday, including those in Iraq, Afghanistan and Egypt, as a precautionary measure, the State Department said Thursday. State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf did not say how long the international installations would stay closed -- only that the decision was taken “out of an abundance of caution and care for our employees and others who may be visiting.” Sunday is a normal workday in many Arab and Middle Eastern countries. Embassies in Europe and Latin America would be shuttered that day anyway.

If we learned anything about Barack Obama in his first term it is that when he starts repeating the same idea over and over, what´s on his mind is something else. The first term´s over-and-over subject was "the wealthiest 1%." Past some point, people wondered why he kept beating these half-dead horses. After the election, we knew. It was to propagandize the targeted voting base that would provide his 4% popular-vote margin of victory—very young voters and minorities. They believed. He won. Climatologists at Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment have warned the likely rate of change over the next century will be at least 10 times quicker than any climate shift since the dinosaurs became extinct. If the trend continues at its current rapid pace, it will place significant stress on terrestrial ecosystems around the world, and many species will need to make behavioral, evolutionary or geographic adaptations to survive, they said.
