The recent decision by outgoing Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta to allow women to serve in front-line combat units is fraught with problems, and no one in the administration or at the Department of Defense seems to be considering them. First of all, it is important to understand that the nature of warfare has changed substantially in the last couple of decades. Linear battlefields with clearly defined front lines and rear areas are no longer the norm and are unlikely to re-emerge in future warfare. Furthermore, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs)
Comments: Gen. Boykin gives an excellent analysis. He has called the 0bama regime a Marxist insurgency. How right he is! No wonder he was booted out by the regime.
This is what happens when elitist eggheads make decisions. Leon went right from college to the Army as a 2nd Lt. in the Army Intelligence. He never saw any combat or lived in the field. He is an academic who makes decisions based on theory and not real life. When will these left wing idiots realize that nature made men and women different for a reason. Humans are not "one size fits all". For the most part, women are weaker and smaller than men. In close combat, especially hand-to-hand combat, they will be completely outclassed by our current enemy who holds women in low regard and believes that rape is a legitimate part of war. Not only that, but male soldiers will run a greater risk because they can´t count on the soldier on either side of them in combat to fight as effectively as they do. Also more men will die trying to protect the women in combat situations. Its human nature. This idea has "disaster" written all over it. It was a political decision and not a military or even common sense idea.
The military has finally "jumped the shark" with this one. The Oscars are coming up. The nominations include catagories for Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress. By their thinking, these honors should no longer be separated by the sexes. There should only be catagories for Best Acting-person and Best Supporting Acting-person. It´s only fair.
Secretary of State John Kerry announced Friday at the U.S. Embassy in London that the State Department will now recognize in its visa-processing practices same-sex marriages performed in foreign countries—saying that “as long as a marriage has been performed in a jurisdiction that recognizes it so that it is legal, then that marriage is valid under U.S. immigration laws.” The State Department clarified to CNSNews.com on Monday that this principle does not extend to polygamous marriages, which are legal in many Muslim countries. “Today, the State Department, which has always been at the forefront of equality in the federal government,
On Mark Levin’s radio show on Monday, Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio argued that Republicans should use Congress’ budgetary powers to defund President Barack Obama’s unpopular 2010 health care reform law. Rubio, who seemed to have fallen out of favor with Levin after the immigration debate in the Senate earlier this summer, used his appearance on the conservative talk radio program to talk about an idea that has pitted newer Republican legislators against a GOP establishment that insists the defunding scheme can’t work.
In June, first lady Michelle Obama appeared in a hip-hop music video that featured rapper Doug E. Fresh, singer-songwriter Jordin Sparks and TV medical personality Dr. Oz. The catchy song urged kids to "work hard/eat right" and "tell somebody/it´s your body/c´mon." The song was just the first of a 19-track album, the majority of which are hip-hop, to be released by the Partnership for a Healthier America, the anti-obesity nonprofit that launched in conjunction with Michelle Obama´s Let´s Move! anti-obesity campaign, and a New York-based group called Hip Hop Public Health. The full album,
President Obama’s signature legislation, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, has stolen the joy from being a physician or hospital administrator, Dr. Ben Carson said. On Fox News on Monday, Dr. Carson called Obamacare a killjoy — and a financial disaster. “We’ve had three years now to see what’s in it,” he said, “and the level of enthusiasm has not gone up. In fact, it is going down as people are finding out what’s happening.” Dr. Carson also had a message for Americans who don’t want Obamacare: Get moving and get politicos to repeal it.
A group demanding organ transplants for illegal immigrants protested in a hunger strike for the seventh straight day on Sunday at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. About 40 people gathered in front of the hospital, including the 14 people on the hunger strike, My Fox Chicago reported. “We’re asking for help,” said Blanca Gomez, 23, who needs a kidney transplant. “I go to dialysis three times a week. I’m not going off the hunger strike until I get on the transplant list.” The group said 14 illegal immigrants in Chicago need either a liver or kidney transplant,
Freshman Rep. Ted Yoho (R-Fla.) said during a town hall meeting that while questions about President Obama´s birth certificate were not the best use of time, he was nevertheless supporting further investigation into the president´s birthplace because if he were removed from office, “we can get rid of everything he’s done.” Yoho said he would support legislation championed by Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Texas) to investigate the president´s birthplace because "if it is true" that the president was not, in fact, born in Hawaii, "it’s illegal, he shouldn’t be there and we can get rid of
Bob Woodward expressed optimism Tuesday about Amazon.com billionaire Jeff Bezos’s purchase of The Washington Post, saying “this isn’t Rupert Murdoch buying the Wall Street Journal.’ Appearing on MSNBC´s “Morning Joe,” Woodward referred to Bezos as “one of the real innovators” and said the tycoon´s vision, business acumen, and “deep pockets” could greatly help the paper in the long term. “If there´s anything done inefficiently it´s the news business and so we need to be shaken up,” Woodward said. “I think he will do that.”
Washington - The vice chairman of the Federal Election Commission told CNN on Monday he has seen numerous undisclosed e-mails between FEC staffers and the Internal Revenue Service that raise new questions about potential collusion between the two federal agencies in the alleged targeting of conservative political groups. Don McGahn, a Republican FEC commissioner, said an investigator from his agency contacted Lois Lerner, the IRS employee at the center of the political storm now engulfing that agency. He said the contact was made to discuss the status of one such
President Obama in Phoenix Tuesday will tout his administration´s housing fixes as the tonic that saved a real-estate market in free fall. In his latest economic speech, Obama also will outline his plan to lessen the influence of government-owned mortgage buyers Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, break stagnant lending practices and make home ownership more obtainable for Americans being excluded from the slowly rebounding housing market. What he likely won´t mention, however, is that home ownership has dropped to an 18-year low -- 65 percent -- as lenders remain wary of opening up their purse strings and more Americans
He thought he was a woman trapped in a man’s body — but it turns out he’s “just another boring straight guy.” ABC News editor Don Ennis strolled into the newsroom in May wearing a little black dress and an auburn wig and announced he was transgender and splitting from his wife. He wanted to be called Dawn. But now he says he suffered from a two-day bout of amnesia that has made him realize he wants to live his life again as Don. “I accused my wife of playing some kind of cruel joke, dressing
Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said on Sunday there were “more effective ways” of ending Obamacare than defunding it, but he did not specify what those "more effective ways" were. Nor did Ryan´s office return calls from CNSNews.com asking him what he thought those more effective ways were. “You know, rather than sort of swinging for the fences and trying to take this entire law out with discretionary spending, I think there are more effective ways of achieving that goal,” Ryan said in an interview on CBS’ “Face the Nation.” Sen. Mike Lee (R.-Utah) has said that he will offer an
There are growing concerns that an al Qaeda affiliate could use a new generation of liquid explosive, currently undetectable, in a potential attack, according to two senior U.S. government officials briefed on the terror threat that has prompted the closing of nearly two dozen U.S. embassies. Though the Transportation Security Administration has long been concerned about liquid explosives being used in potential devices -- as it was during the failed Christmas Day bombing in 2009 -- the new tactic allows terrorists to dip ordinary clothing
In 2008 and then again in 2012, after retired four-star General Colin Powell endorsed and then voted for Barack Obama, the former Secretary of State´s sanity was already in question. At least now, after having his email account hacked by high-level security-breacher Guccifer, Colin Powell´s besmirching of the Republican Party´s "shift to the right" and "identity crisis" finally makes sense. It seems that for years the mannerly and always professional Colin Powell has been cyber-comporting with a 46-year-old Romanian European Parliament member, Social Democrat, and past spokesperson for Romanian president Ion Iliescu named Corina Cretu
Conservatives have for years attempted to put our finger upon precisely why Barack Obama strikes us as queer in precisely the way he does. There is an alienness about him, which in the fever swamps is expressed in all that ridiculous Kenyan-Muslim hokum, but his citizen-of-the-world shtick is strictly sophomore year — the great globalist does not even speak a foreign language. Obama has been called many things — radical, socialist — labels that may have him dead to rights at the phylum level but not down at his genus or species. His social circle includes
For nearly a year, we have had no answer to why the administration lied about Benghazi — why it told the world, not to mention the parents of our murdered SEALs at the funeral of their sons, that the cause of that fatal conflagration was an anti-Islamic video no one saw, when the various arms of our executive branch (White House, State and intelligence) already knew, or strongly suspected, it was a terror attack orchestrated by al-Qaeda affiliates. You only have to read the now infamous talking points to know that. That this lie was deeply immoral is obvious.
Today, across Africa, Araby and Asia, from Nouakchott to Dhaka, the diplomatic facilities of the United States are closed. There’s a Tsarnaev out there, somewhere – could be the Mahgreb, the Levant, the Horn of Africa, the Indian sub-continent – who knows? So, as Richard Fernandez writes, “Shelter in place, this time globally.” Maybe it will work. Maybe by the end of the day there will be, unlike Benghazi a year on, men in custody. But if not? Daniel Pipes: Don’t know about you, but I find this pre-emptive cringing unworthy of a great country, even humiliating.
Common sense tells me that cops don´t need a Taser or a shotgun to subdue a 95-year-old man. When John Wrana was a young man, fit and strong and fighting in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps, did he ever think he´d end this way? Just a few weeks shy of his 96th birthday, in need of a walker to move about, cops coming through the door of his retirement home with a Taser and a shotgun.
Not only should President Obama cancel a bilateral summit with "schoolyard bully" Russian President Vladimir Putin, Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said Sunday on "Face the Nation," but considering the country granted asylum to National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden, U.S. allies should try to move next month´s G-20 gathering from St. Petersburg. "President Putin´s behaving like a schoolyard bully, and in my experience, I´ve learned, unless you stand up to that bully, they ask for more and more and more," Schumer said. "He´s always going out of his way, President Putin is, to seem to poke us in
Police shot and killed an armed teen in the South Bronx early today after the suspect opened fire and refused to drop his gun, police said. Two rookie cops heard shots fired near East 151st Street and Courtlandt Avenue around 3 a.m. and ran in the direction of fire, police said. The uniformed officers saw Shaaliver Douse, 14, of the South Bronx, chasing another person through the streets, according to cops. Douse, who was arrested in May on attempted murder charges for shooting a 15-year-old, fired at the man running on East 151st Street this morning, police said.
In an interview for The Guardian Weekend magazine, actor Matt Damon recently weighed in with his thoughts on how President Barack Obama has handled the scandals that have engulfed his administration since the spring. Damon, a vocal supporter of the president since his 2008 campaign for national office, said that Obama is overcompensating for his lack of military background with his tough response to controversies like how the government is responding to National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden. The actor said that Obama is allowing himself to “get bullied” and is acting as though is “manhood”
Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus threatened to pull the group’s partnership with NBC and CNN for 2016 GOP presidential primary debates if the networks moved ahead with plans to air films on Hillary Clinton. “If they have not agreed to pull this programming prior to the start of the RNC’s Summer Meeting on August 14, I will seek a binding vote stating that the RNC will neither partner with these networks in 2016 primary debates nor sanction primary debates they sponsor,” Preibus said in a statement. In individual letters to CNN President Jeff Zucker and NBC Chairman Robert Greenblatt,
Oprah Winfrey on Monday said the killings of Trayvon Martin and Emmett Till are the "same thing." This transpired during an interview with The Grio that aired on NBC´s Today show. OPRAH WINFREY: It´s so easy during this time: Trayvon Martin, Trayvon Martin parallel to Emmett Till, let me just tell you. In my mind, same thing. But you can, you can get stuck in that and not allow yourself to move forward and to see how far we´ve come. Really? Martin and Till are the same thing?
Michelle Obama took to Twitter on Sunday to send her husband an affectionate birthday message -- and a gentle ribbing about the US President´s graying hair. "Happy birthday, Barack! Your hair´s a little grayer, but I love you more than ever," Michelle Obama wrote on her official twitter account, @FLOTUS. The message was accompanied by an undated black and white photo of the Obamas as a young couple relaxing on a sofa. Barack Obama is spending his 52nd birthday weekend at Camp David, the rural Maryland retreat made available to US Presidents. He was to return
The truth about Benghazi, the Associated Press/James Rosen monitoring, the IRS corruption, the NSA octopus, and Fast and Furious is still not exactly known. Almost a year after the attacks on our Benghazi facilities, we are only now learning details of CIA gun-running, military stand-down orders, aliases of those involved who are still hard to locate, massaged talking points, and the weird jailing of Nakoula Basseley Nakoula. We still do not quite know why Eric Holder’s Justice Department went after the Associated Press or Fox News’s James Rosen — given that members of the administration were themselves illegally leaking
