| A leading GOP Hispanic group has a message for Republicans as Congress begins debate on immigration: Watch your language. The Hispanic Leadership Network, a center-right group looking to woo Latinos to the GOP, sent Republican congressmen of all stripes a list of suggested "Dos and Don´ts of Immigration Reform" Monday afternoon. The memo was obtained by The Hill. "Tone and rhetoric will be key in the days and weeks ahead as both liberals and conservatives lay out their perspectives. Please consider these tonally sensitive messaging points as you discuss immigration, regardless of your position," Hispanic Leadership Network

GOP congressmen don´t need to watch their language. But then they don´t have the balls to fight back, either.

Message to mexicans - we will treat you exactly how you treat Americans who go across the border. Jail in filthy conditions and no attorneys but mexicans but, whoops they cannot cross the border either, we will treat mexicans the same way. They have no laws and don´t respect ours and presume to give us instructions. Stuff it where the sun don´t shine.

Yes, tone can be a concern.
However, I truly believe the GOP needs to make this a much larger immigration issue, and look for ways to increase the legal quota to gain citizenship that will include China, Russia, England, Germany and a host of other countries looking to ingite the American economy.
The current proposal will only allow current illegals a path to gain their green card, which then can lead to applying for citizenship. You can´t vote with a green card, and the U.S. gov´t will have a record of who has one.

Watch our language or what? You might not vote Republican?? Hispanics voted for Obama 75:25% In fact, for the last 32 years, Hispanics have voted roughly 2/3 for Dems, 1/3 for Repubs--even for Reagan, who gave them amnesty. Even for GWB and McLame, who promised them comprehensive immigration reform.
So Hispanics are going to vote Dem anyhow, why bother to watch our language?
Get out of the USA if you don´t like our language, and I am happy you are offended.

They are correct. Acting as if every Hispanic just illegally immigrated last year is insulting. I have a good friend from an old New Mexico family. Her ´Hispanic´ family has been in the U.S. for at least 300 years. How do you think, "Hispanics need to learn English" or "Hispanics need to go back to their country" sound to people like her? Imagine the same person saying, "Every German-American needs to learn English" or "Every Irish-American needs to go back to his country."

Sounds like something straight out of the George W/Jeb Bush playbook.
Remember what George W Bush called patriotic Americans trying to defend the borders he left open? He called those Americans "vigilantes." As if Americans have no right to have their laws enforced.
Bush knew what he was doing. He WANTED his massive underclass to take hold. Not because it would be in America´s national interest. But because it serves "global" interests. Making America more dependent and less interested in sovereignty required a shift in the population, and getting it could not have been easier. GW left the door open, and Hispanic illegals walked right in by the millions. They are poorly educated, often illiterate in their own language and partial to large families they cannot afford to support.
And here come the RINOs again, demanding our imported underclass be given a "path to citizenship." Making low information voters forever the new normal.
What could possibly go wrong?

I guess NO illegal ´alien anchor babies.´
Seriously The only Hispanics that by law that could continue to use Spanish as an official language were those living in the Gadsden Purchase covered by the Treaty of Guadalupe.[there was no discussion as to how long this would be, many thinking it was only till the generation of those living at the time passes away]
Additionally The US Colonies after the Rev War voted to make English the Official Language of the new Nation ............... by one vote over German. [such was the vehemence against the Former Mother Country]
ALSO The Constitutional Amendment currently interpreted as allowing for ´anchor babies´ into perpetuity was only intended to ensure that former slaves were given US citizenship.

You have to admit that the liberal media can easily get Stupid Party politicians to make seemingly ignorant and off the wall comments that have nothing to do with their jobs or reality. The Stupid Party lost two US Senate seats because of ignorant and off the wall comments about rape in the last election.
There is a big different between a lot of US citizens who are also Hispanics and the illegal alien population that Stupid Party politicians are too ignorant to recognize. So maybe this memo will assist them in not falling for liberal media questions to them that are designed to trick Stupid Party politicians into spontaneously uttering ignorant and off the wall comments regarding the general Hispanic population.

"Language"? How about no more "press one for English"?
#2: I think you can drop the "please" from your statement. They´re not here because we asked them to come.
#10: See #11.
#11: Bingo! No homework for you -- all week!
#10: My family´s been here a whole lot less than 300 years, but we don´t consider ourselves "German-Americans." a. We´re here, and Americans, because from the original immigrant family members to today, we want to be Americans. Oh -- and Teddy Roosevelt was right about hyphenated Americans. And while there may not literally be a hyphen in "Hispanics," there sure is in the mindset. That is, if they have room for any "American-ness" in themselves. One could well argue there is little.
#18 is correct on his Constitutional point. No such thing as birthright anchor babies both under the Constitution, and also by the ancient legal principle that a criminal may not profit from his crime[s], though I´ve never seen anyone else make that point. It´s a big one.

The article is about Hispanics.
While in rare cases [gov´t offices?] it may occur, I´ve never heard "Press 2 for Italian; press 3 for Gaelic; press 4 for Swedish; press 5 for Macedonian; press 6 for Austrian"; and so on.
Any smart company that does enough legitimate business with non-English speakers as to need a "press 2" ought to save everyone´s time and simply set up a separate phone number. DUH.

Why don´t ´hispanics´ and blacks despise the very people who claim they are inable to do ANYTHING by themselves? Are they truly not aware that they are being called deficient by the democrats?

Don’t expect First Lady Michelle Obama to continue a high-profile role in the gun control debate. Administration officials with knowledge of the White House strategy tell The Hill the first lady will not be an active part of the debate going forward, at least in terms of gun policy. Obama will instead be focused mostly on youth empowerment, as she has in recent years, continuing her mentoring programs and “Let’s Move!” her childhood obesity initiative. In a rare move, the first lady entered the national discussion on gun control earlier this week when she delivered

I’m not sure how widely it was known that Jonathan Winters, whom Robin Williams thought the best comic of his generation, was a conservative. In any case, I sometimes used to show students in my classes on the American Founding the early scene from “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad World” where the whole gang tries to deliberate about how to divide the loot fairly when they finally got to the site where the loot was hidden, and how it could illustrate . . . the “great compromise” of the constitutional convention of 1787 in Philadelphia.

Joe Scarborough chimed in later in the segment to echo Feinstein´s claim, asserting, "So now we have al Qaeda terrorists saying, ´Kill Americans, it´s easy, just go to gun shows, get an assault weapon.´"

As a native New Yorker, I´ve seen its middle class population decline over the years due to its neglect of blue collar families which is ironic since this is a Democrat city. With the recent arrests of several local politicians for corruption perhaps New Yorkers will pay more attention to those they put in office. Given their past indifference in local elections this is highly unlikely.

In Philadelphia, at a human abattoir on Lancaster Avenue, is where it ends, not where it starts. It starts with the perversion of language. It starts when the icons of a dissipated culture reduce a baby to a “fetus.” From there, Yeats’s blood-dimmed tide rolls rapidly in. Before long, a baby is not a person but a punishment, as President Barack Obama framed the matter in his familiar off-the-cuff iciness. Of course, to describe newborn children in their boundless possibilities and wonder would be to acknowledge, foremost, their humanity. That is why, instead, abortion enthusiasts must grope for words

With President Obama, there’s always a catch. In the 2014 budget he announced last week, Obama proposed a more accurate way of calculating the inflation rate for annual cost-of-living increases in Social Security. It’s a technical change in pursuit of honesty and good government. And if adopted, it would cause benefits to grow more slowly, though almost imperceptibly so. Republican leaders in Congress ought to be delighted since they had “championed”—Obama’s word—the idea in the first place. Then came the catch. The president’s price for adopting this gentle reform was hundreds of billions in new tax increases.

LOS ANGELES — Jonathan Winters, the cherub-faced comedian whose breakneck improvisations and misfit characters inspired the likes of Robin Williams and Jim Carrey, has died. He was 87. The Ohio native died Thursday evening at his Montecito, Calif., home of natural causes, said Joe Petro III, a longtime family friend. Petro said Winters died of natural causes and was surrounded by family and friends. Winters was a pioneer of improvisational standup comedy, with an exceptional gift for mimicry, a grab bag of eccentric personalities and a bottomless reservoir of creative energy.

I’ve been writing about media coverage of abortion for many years. And so have many others. If you haven’t read David Shaw’s “Abortion Bias Seeps Into The News,” published in the Los Angeles Times back in 1990, you should. That report also explains why we cover the topic here at GetReligion. But the thing is that I’m getting kind of sick of pointing out egregious bias only to see things not just remain bad but get worse. Just think, in the last year, we saw the media drop any pretense of objectivity and bully the Susan G. Komen Foundation
