Marco Rubio Evolved on Immigration Reform

| Arizona Sen. John McCain partnered with liberal Democrat Ted Kennedy in 2005 to offer illegal immigrants a pathway to citizenship, then allied with border security hardliners during a tough 2010 Republican primary. "Complete the danged fence," McCain cracked in a widely publicized television spot. Less well known is the equally dramatic pivot by Marco Rubio, from 2010 candidate who dismissed McCain’s proposal as “amnesty,” to U.S. senator who on Monday championed reforms McCain said had “very little difference” from his previous plan, which became the blueprint for failed legislation

Comments: Boy Rubio evolved on illegal immigration. Bammy evolved on gay marriage. Judas evolved on that guy from Nazareth.

They´re scared of Rubio. They should be. Force the Dems to take an exteme position and turn up the heat. Obama failed on this issue after making many promises. It will be tough but own it.

Major blunder. Marco hung his star on the wrong bunch. In the last 35 years Republicans have not received more than 40% of the hispanic vote..and the only way they ever will is to bribe them with free stuff, just like democrats do. Better to open America to 20 million Europeans to counter the hispanics.

Rubio just launched his 2016 campaign and tossed aside the tea party in the process. He may go the way of Senator Brown, defeated by a lying indian American who also practiced law without a license.
Agree with #3, the Europeans have seen the destruction of socialist policies first hand.

I´m saying quit playing defense. Obama has not delivered on this issue. Our history suggests that people who immigrate here aren´t looking for freebies but opportunity and freedom (from drug wars for example). Have a little faith.
If the only thing standing between a path to citizenship is Obama´s refusal to secure the borders because he doesn´t want Rubio to get the credit that´s a loser for the Democrats. Take it to them.

Interesting article. I wonder how many will read it its entirety. The shining hope for the Republican Party originally supported ilegals by his actions in Florida´s House. He changed colours to win the Senate seat. Now he hs changed again and is on board with McCain, Graham and Schumer.
Regardless of how you might stand on this issue, this man has no core beliefs that he is willing to constantly espouse. It is all about winning the election for himself. People (independents, conservatives, and undecideds)will see through this act and not vote for him if he runs. BUT the Republican Elite, Party Drones and MSM will shove him down everyone´s throat as being the only viable candidate who has any chance of winning.
It will be fascinating to see how many (even those on this board) will sign up for that tour again. I am betting most will and their voices will be constantly shrill and will accuse all those in opposition as being idiots and against saving America.

The Democrats want total amnesty to add 11 million democratic voters to their numbers, of course they deny this and say it´s only because they are compassionate.
OK then, the Republicans should offer to make all 11 million of them citizens immediately if they willingly accept to vote for Republicans for the next ten years.
Who cares who they vote for if your compassionate, right?

Hahahahahahahaha. How easily some of us can be fooled when a hispanic name or a black face are involved.
FTA: "He took a right turn on immigration but he’s slowly coming back to where I think he’s naturally oriented."
In other words, Rubio´s been lying to us all along about his conservatism on immigration. I´m shocked! Shocked I tell you! Hahahahaha.
A question I want someone to answer seriously: why should anyone who has been living in America illegally, in continuous violation and contempt for our laws, be put on ANY path to citizenship? I have no problem with a work permit because the entire illegals issue is directly traceable to a failure by the feds to manage a workable guest worker program, and for anyone who disagrees I have some 10 hour a day jobs picking lettuce in the hot sun with your name on them. But why should anyone who has shown such disregard for American law that they lived here in constant violation of it NOT be barred for life from American citizenship? The Lance Armstrong rule on immigration.

Chelsea Clinton has raised her profile in the last few days, which sparked the inevitable question about the former first daughter´s future: Will she ever be like Mom and Dad and run for office? Clinton, 33, essentially said "maybe" in an interview that aired Monday on NBC´s Today show. "Right now I´m grateful to live in a city, a state and a country where I strongly support my mayor, my governor, my president and my senators and my representative," said Clinton, whose father, Bill, was president from 1993-2001 and her mother, Hillary

I’m worried about the Supreme Court. I’m worried about how the justices can properly debate same-sex marriage when some don’t even seem to realize that most Americans use the word “gay” now instead of “homosexual”; when Chief Justice John Roberts thinks gays are merely concerned with marriage as a desirable “label,” and when Justice Samuel Alito compares gay marriage to cellphones. The Nine are back there in their Miss Havisham lairs mulling, disconcertingly disconnected. In his zeal to scare people about the “possible deleterious effect” of gay parents adopting, Justice Antonin Scalia did not seem fully

Anti-abortion groups have been trying to re-impose restrictions on abortion rights for 40 years, but the Legislature and governor of North Dakota have taken this attack on women’s reproductive health and freedom to a shocking new low by passing a bill that they must know perfectly well is unconstitutional by any reading of the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision and others since.Under those rulings, full abortion bans are allowable only after fetal viability, which the medical community generally considers to be around 24 weeks into pregnancy. But North Dakota joins a growing list

"Not until I went to the churches of America and heard her pulpits aflame with righteousness did I understand the secret of her genius and power. America is great because she is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, America will cease to be great.” So wrote Alexis de Tocqueville. Yet, judged by the standards of those old “pulpits aflame with righteousness,” is America still a good country? Consider the cases taken up this week by the Supreme Court

Quite a few Republicans have been announcing new stages in their “evolution” on same-sex marriage, which is being debated in the Supreme Court today and tomorrow. Senator Rob Portman of Ohio said earlier this month that he was prompted to reverse his position when he learned his son was gay – after a two-year period of reflection that included having his name floated as a potential running mate for Mitt Romney, a staunch opponent of gay marriage.

In 2011, I wrote about mass murder at Kermit Gosnell’s abortion “clinic”: From the Office of the District Attorney in Philadelphia: Viable babies were born*. Gosnell killed them by plunging scissors into their spinal cords. He taught his staff to do the same. This is a remarkable moment in American life: A man is killing actual living, gurgling, bouncing babies on an industrial scale – and it barely makes the papers. It was a sickening crime that fit an all-too-familiar storyline. Young men who turned a night of partying into an ugly sexual assault. A culture in which high school football players are treated like gods and act as if no rules apply. And an innocent young woman who was abused by people she thought were friends and then humiliated. But what made the Steubenville, Ohio, rape case — which ended today with guilty verdicts against Trent Mays and Ma’lik Richmond — different and what made it feel cutting edge is the pervasive role

The world is full of Roman Catholics who long ago stopped following the dogma, doctrine and medieval sexual dictates of the church. But they never lost faith in Francesco, the merchant’s son who spoke to wolves, slept on dirt floors and dined with lepers. That the new pope would take the name of Francis, in honor of the saint from the Umbrian town of Assisi, is the most radical first move by a pontiff in some time. The 12th century mystic is the nature saint, patron of the environment, the poor, the dispossessed.

DETROIT — This city was already sinking under hundreds of millions of dollars in bills that it could not pay when a municipal auditor brought in a veteran financial consultant to dig through the books. A seasoned turnaround man and former actuary with Ford Motor Co., he was stunned by what he found: an additional $7.2 billion in retiree health costs that had never been reported, or even tallied up. “The city must take some drastic steps,” the consultant, John Boyle, warned the City Council in delivering his report at a public meeting in 2005.

During an interview for “This Week,” former Florida governor Jeb Bush told me that he was “in sync” with South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham on the issue of immigration reform. Graham, a key member of the bipartisan group of senators pushing for immigration reform, took Bush to task after the former Florida governor said Monday that he did not support a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants, which is a key component of the plan being pushed by the Senate group. Bush subsequently reversed course and said he could in fact support a plan

Jeb Bush isn’t not running for President. This is big news, even though the next presidential election is several zillion tweets away. It shakes up the political money world, where potential saviors like Chris Christie and Marco Rubio may find it much harder to fill their treasuries. It may tee up yet another of those Bush-vs.-Clinton death matches that are so entertaining. But it is potentially more important for those who’d like to see the Republican Party evolve past its current juvenility. Bush is thoughtful, and he thinks big. Asked on Morning Joe to name

The murder trial of abortionist Kermit Gosnell largely is being ignored by the mainstream media, even in the face of grisly testimony, such as what we heard yesterday. Life News reports: ...a former employee described how she heard a baby scream during a live-birth abortion. Abortion clinic employee Sherry West described an incident which "really freaked (her) out" and related to the jury how she heard a child who was born alive following an abortion scream.

HARTFORD, Conn. -- With time running out on the chance to pass gun control legislation, President Barack Obama on Monday warned Congress not to use delaying tactics against tighter regulations and told families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims that he´s "determined as ever" to honor their children with tougher laws. Obama´s gun control proposals have run into resistance on Capitol Hill, leaving their fate in doubt. Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”

However, any deal could be derailed by the looming threat of a Republican filibuster involving Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. With Cruz standing proudly in the way of any gun legislation, Democrats are trying to make him pay a political price — and even a couple of high-profile Republicans are questioning his tactics.

The case of a same-sex Connecticut couple accused of repeatedly raping and abusing two of their nine adopted boys is headed for trial. Married couple George Harasz and Douglas Wirth of Glastonbury were supposed to be sentenced Friday in Hartford Superior Court under a plea deal, but instead withdrew from their agreement with prosecutors. The men had already pleaded no contest in January to one felony count each of risk of injury to a minor — a reduction from even more serious charges related to sexual assault....
