´I feel like a stranger

"When you go swimming, it’s much healthier to keep your whole body completely covered, you know.” The Muslim lady behind the counter in my local pharmacy has recently started giving me advice like this. It’s kindly meant and I’m always glad to hear her views because she is one of the few people in west London where I live who talks to me. The streets around Acton, which has been my home since 1996, have taken on a new identity. Most of the shops are now owned by Muslims and even the fish and chip shop and Indian takeaway

Comments:
This is entirely the fault of the former Labour government, whose senior officials admitted they quietly and deliberatelyopened up immigration so foreigners would swell the ranks of Labour voters. Whether Conservatives can stem the flow is a good question. But look at the relatively low numbers--this is what it must be like in small but growing parts of the US, like metro Detroit. I recall the time Durham, NC police were called because a Mexican family had a terrified goat hanging from a tree, preparing to slit its throat for dinner--children of the complaining family were screaming in horror.

I live in a medium sized town, not a metropolis, and there has been a time or two when I´ve felt this way. Once I was in the local Wal-Mart and thought - "am I the only person here who speaks English"?

And I have seen a couple of face veils recently. I have no problem with hijab, but face veils are creepy.

When I was preparing for a business trip to London last year, a Brit friend warned me that I would not see many Brits in London. He was right. The city has been taken over by middle easterners, Pakistanis and Indians. There are whole groups of burka clad women begging on street corners.

I live in northern Virginia, about 45 miles from DC. Recently I walked from one end of the nearest mall ( Dulles Town Center ) to the other end without hearing a single person speaking English.

It´s happening everywhere in the west and will be our doom.

Mob attacks Ebola treatment

An angry crowd attacked an Ebola treatment centre in Guinea on Friday, accusing its staff of bringing the deadly disease to the town, Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) said, as Mali identified its first suspected cases. More than 90 people have already died in Guinea and Liberia in what the medical charity has warned could turn into an unprecedented epidemic in an impoverished region with poor health services. The outbreak in Guinea is the first time the disease, epidemics of which occur regularly in Central Africa, has appeared in the country. Infected patients initially went undiagnosed for several weeks before tests confirmed Ebola.

A stunning visualization from a University of Chicago master´s student shows how the middle class have been pushed almost completely out of the Windy City in only a few decades. Daniel Kay Hertz has created a series of maps dating back to 1970 show the rapidly expanding upper class on the traditionally well-off North Side and the explosion of poverty on historically poorer South Side. The public policy major said the maps posted to his personal website are meant to show that the entrenchment of wealth in the Loop and on the North Side, and of poverty elsewhere, may only be part

At a time of national wage stagnation and economic uncertainty outside the beltway, a Virginia Democratic congressman wants a raise – arguing that a $174,000 salary isn´t enough for a federal legislator to live comfortably in or around Washington, D.C. ´I think the American people should know that the members of Congress are underpaid,´ Moran told Roll Call. ´I understand that it’s widely felt that they underperform, but the fact is that this is the board of directors for the largest economic entity in the world.´ Congress´ approval rating among voters typically hovers under 20 per cent.

Mouths on Capitol Hill were agape Friday as MailOnline told congressional staffers that President Barack Obama´s recent one-night stay in Brussels cost taxpayers more than $2.9 million--and that´s just for hotel space and rental vehicles. [Snip] The Weekly Standard first reported on a single requisition for lodging in Brussels at a hotel called ´The Hotel,´ costing an estimated $1.52 million. MailOnline has found two additional requisitions, covering more than $396,000 at a Crowne Plaza hotel and $1.05 million in expenses for ´vehicle rentals.´ The cars were requisitioned from Modern Car, a Brussels company that specializes in luxury limousines.

The BBC did a good job last night, wheeling out its political big gun--David Dimbleby--to moderate in his arch, feline, Flashman-esque way, not showing any noticeable left-wing bias and following up with some integrated coverage from Paxo on BBC Newsnight. But gosh wasn´t the BBC eager to tell us how well it was doing? The BBC stands for everything Farage hates and no doubt cordially loathes Farage.
