What Sarah Palin meant
Washington Post, by Chris Cillizza

Original Article

Posted By:Desert Fox, 1/28/2013 5:14:22 PM

The news that Fox News Channel has decided against renewing Sarah Palin’s contract means that the former Alaska governor’s time in the national spotlight is, at least for the moment, over. In truth, Palin had largely disappeared from the political conversation once it became clear she wouldn’t be running for president in 2012. But, now that she is officially gone — without the Fox News platform or an elected office, it’s hard to see how she continues to get attention — it’s worth revisiting (or maybe visiting) what she meant to the political world.

Comments:
Palin Derangement Syndrome is alive and WELL.

Chris is amazing! Can read minds, knows things known only to others. Refuses to admit that the MSM went bonkers. Sent hoards of investigators to Alaska, printed obscene things about her young children, made an all out attack never before seen.

Those who depend on the MSM for news are fools beyond imagination.

I love Sarah Palin and her family. She speaks to me. I am well educated with two advanced degrees, but I am still just a common person. I don´t make loads of cash. I don´t have much influence on others outside of my church, where I serve. Sarah is like me; she´s not a snob.

And she´s got more common sense in one little finger than the entire Democrat Party or Republican Party.

God bless her . . . she´ll be comin´ round the mountain . . . drivin´ six white horses . . . when she comes.

Leftards saw Palin for what she was: as a woman she was the rightful property of the left, but she escaped from their Plantation, and was instead the biggest threat to their agenda and thus was to be destroyed at all costs.

Any effort to support her was reversed to increase the smear campaign. And, as we know, any "property" of the left, be they black or latino or female is and will be destroyed in the same way.

The Olds Business. Not The News Business. According to this warmed over, warmed over again, and warmed over once more story, article, column, whatever the heck it is, the WaPo is now embarking upon yesterday’s news years later. And I thought America’s media had hit bottom a long time ago. Well, bottom-feeding “journalists” are well-situated as far as this flimsily crafted hit piece is concerned.

Governor Sarah Palin is so far superior to those keyboardists who throw fluffy, weightless, inconsequential brickbats at her that it’s laughable.

“Sticks & Stones, you middling mediocre media misfits!”

BAGRAM AIR FIELD, Afghanistan -- The United States accepts that a diminished but resilient Taliban is likely to remain a military threat in some parts of Afghanistan long after U.S. troops complete their combat mission next year, the top U.S. military officer said Sunday. In an Associated Press interview at this air field north of Kabul, Army Gen. The White House tried Sunday to win support for President Obama’s forthcoming budget, arguing the plan is a balanced approach to economic prosperity and warning Republicans about stonewalling negotiations and pushing a “rejected” Romney plan. “Right now, the approach of many Republicans, particularly the leadership in the House, is my way or the highway,” senior White House adviser Dan Pfeiffer told “Fox News Sunday.” “Their view is the only acceptable plan is to try to … essentially enact the Romney economic plan. The American people rejected that, and Republicans shouldn´t be doubling down on it.”

A fundamental principle in medicine is that if you get the diagnosis wrong, you´ll probably apply the wrong therapy. A corollary is that if the therapy isn´t working, increasing the dose may make things worse. That´s where we are with ObamaCare. There are shortcomings aplenty in the health-care field, and changes and improvements are required. But never have I seen so many good intentions leading irreversibly to hell. Personal experience is by its nature parochial. Yet when it invalidates much of what passes for wisdom, there may be value in sharing it. Here are some facts that may illuminate

Is the Constitution becoming the left´s new target? That thought struck me the other night over dinner with my liberal friend, a lawyer and part-time professor. Among his choice statements, "Maybe it´s time to get rid of the Constitution and start over." No doubt he was echoing the sentiments of Georgetown law professor, Louis Michael Seidman, who suggested just that in a New York Times op-ed. It´s been several weeks since Seidman made his remarks, and now, it appears, the floodgates are open. Liberals feel they can speak freely about their true intentions for our country.

For the first time in my adult life, I am not proud of the First Lady. Mrs. Obama is frequently compared to Marie Antoinette. She spends hundreds of millions of dollars a year on her own pleasure and aggrandizement while urging the peasants to plant gardens. And for the first time in American history, we have a president who insults us across the world, disavows the idea that American is special, enriches our enemies such as the Muslim Brotherhood, and degrades our achievements ("You didn´t build that."). Metaracism instilled in the Obamas the tragedy of ingratitude.

The lousy March jobs report jolted financial markets Friday, and understandably so. In a trend that has defined this weakest of all modern economic recoveries, the jobless rate keeps falling but largely because the labor force keeps shrinking. The unemployment rate fell to a new four-year low of 7.6%, from 7.7% in February. Good news, except the main reason for the decline was that nearly half a million Americans (496,000) left the civilian labor force. They retired, quit working, went back to school or gave up looking for work. The economy created a net 88,000 new jobs

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank
