| GUANTANAMO BAY NAVAL BASE, Cuba — Two Sept. 11 defendants delayed the start of their hearing Monday at Guantanamo when they refused to respond to questions from their judge in the case. Defense lawyers didn´t say what prompted the silent protest by self-proclaimed terrorist mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and one of five co-defendants at the military tribunal on the US base in Cuba. Mohammed refused to say whether he approved the hiring of another attorney for him. Fellow defendant Walid bin Attash refused to say why he wanted a military lawyer removed from his team.

Perhaps I have the wrong impression but it seems as if military trials get stalled for trivial reasons. But only for terrorists.
Make that some terrorists.
How long did it take to deal with the beard issue. Was it ever resolved?
Now they pause because of refusal to speak? True it only took an hour this time.
Tomorrow he may complain that noise kept him awake all night and that will launch an inquiry.

The terrorists in this country are beating us like rented mules. And nary a word is said. I don´t think the beard thingy is settled. That´s another joke on us (or the military). Remove that beard, one hair at a time, with tweezers. And pull real slow. Or put some tape over it and rip it off. Either way. Doesn´t matter. Just get rid of it and get him on his way to trial.

If an election between Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama were held today, 58% would vote for Reagan over Obama, according to a survey of 1,000 Americans age 18 and older conducted by Kelton Research for the National Geographic Channel. With all due respect to Mother Jones´s conversation-leaker-in-chief David Corn, the recordings published today of a conversation between Sen. Mitch McConnell and some consultants disparaging Ashley Judd is not news. It´s the sausage being made. We´ve got full background here, but the toplines are this: Corn got hold of a conversation apparently recorded during a presentation by consultants to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell´s reelection campaign. The consultants were opposition researchers, hired by the campaign to ferret out damaging information about actress Ashley Judd, who at one point considered running against McConnell.

A homeless man, oblivious to President Obama’s passing motorcade, took BB gun practice in the nearby woods and refused to drop his weapon when confronted by Connecticut cops, officials said today. Obama was speaking yesterday at the University of Hartford when police, stationed along the president’s route to Bradley International Airport, heard noises coming from a nearby wooded area around 5:50 p.m., said Bloomfield police Capt. North Korea’s young leader Kim Jong-un is waiting for United States President Barack Obama to make a phone call to Pyongyang to discuss easing tensions on the Korean peninsula, according to Russia’s news agency Itar-Tass.
