| Washington — The Federal Reserve has left little doubt about its plans for the next few months, and thus little mystery about the statement it will release Wednesday after the latest meeting of its policy-making committee. The economy remains weak. The Fed will keep buying bonds to hold down borrowing costs. Inside the central bank, however, debate is once again shifting from whether the Fed should do more to stimulate the economy to when it should start doing less.

So far, all this printing of money has not worked. Buying our our bonds makes no sense; why do it just because no one else wants to buy our debt. All the "pumping" and printing is making our dollars worth less, piling on more debt, and eventually the Fed will have to raise interest rates, and all he!! will break loose. Stop spending, stop printing so many dollars, and let the market settle out.

Boys and girls...they cannot stop buying (aka printing) when our gubbermint is spending $80 billion more than it takes in each month and makes promises that exceed another $10 billion in future commitments per month while at the same time trying to rollover $16++ trillion in existing debt.
Their conundrum...when the left hand stops buying from the right hand...game over for the cartel of Ivy League elite and Wall Street...global depression or beginning of hyperinflation are the two choices left becasue of the can kicking of two decades.

Fat and obnoxious though he may be, Kim Jong-un, like his father and grandfather, is no slouch at blinksmanship. The point of the high-stakes game is to see who blinks first. Did America just blink? Chuck Hagel, the new secretary of defense, postponed tests of a new intercontinental missile, scheduled for this week, because the U.S. doesn’t want to “exacerbate the crisis with North Korea.” The State Department, and now the Pentagon under Mr. Hagel, wants to project sobriety, dignity and reluctance to shout. The Pentagon can test the missile later.

The Russian president was confronted by a topless protester with an obscene slogan insulting Mr Putin painted on her back - and, he admitted, he “liked” it. Mr Putin was with German Chancellor Angela Merkel at at a trade fair in Hanover when the woman tried to push her way through to an amused-looking Mr Putin, but was blocked by aides. Her back was painted with an obscene slogan in Cyrillic script directed against the Russian president. The activist was with two other women who also stripped to the waist and shouted slogans calling the Russian leader a “dictator”.

The deep oceans have yielded many mysteries that have puzzled people for centuries, from the giant squid to huge jellyfish that look like UFOs. To that list add a fish with totally transparent blood. The Ocellated Ice Fish lives in the freezing waters of the Antarctic Ocean, where it manages to keep its body doing all the things that other fish do, but with blood that is absolutely clear, researchers told AFP on Friday. The reason, say experts at Tokyo Sea Life Park, is that the Ocellated Ice Fish has no haemoglobin, making it unique among vertebrates the world over.

A family´s criticism of inflight entertainment allegedly prompted a United flight to be diverted over "security concerns." In a story published in The Atlantic, one family recounts traveling from Denver to Baltimore with two young sons, ages 4 and 8. During the flight, the PG-13-rated detective film "Alex Cross" was shown on drop-down monitors across the plane. The family worried about their young children seeing inappropriate content in the film. "Alarmed by the opening scenes, we asked two flight attendants if they could turn off the monitor; both claimed it was not possible," the family said, according to The Atlantic.

The environmentalists who were waging a losing war against the proposed Keystone pipeline woke up to the news of a small pipeline leak in Arkansas and thought it was Christmas morning. If environmentalists were the praying kind, they would say the Arkansas leak was an answer to their prayers. They think it ends the debate over the Keystone pipeline. A Library of Congress film preservation worker faces federal charges for allegedly posting fake sex ads on Craigslist directing men to his ex-girlfriend. The Star Exponent of Culpeper reports that 61-year-old Kenneth Edward Kuban was charged with stalking a Fauquier County woman he had dated briefly in 2011. Kuban, who works at the Library of Congress Packard campus in Culpeper, allegedly posted the ads from his work computer. Authorities say Kuban made several Craigslist postings each week directing men to his ex-girlfriend´s home for sex or to buy pornographic videos.

We all know that guns can cost lives because the media repeat this message endlessly, as if we could not figure it out for ourselves. But even someone who reads newspapers regularly and watches numerous television newscasts may never learn that guns also save lives-- much less see any hard facts comparing how many lives are lost and how many are saved. But that trade-off is the real issue, not the Second Amendment or the National Rifle Association, which so many in the media obsess about.

North Korea’s young leader Kim Jong-un is waiting for United States President Barack Obama to make a phone call to Pyongyang to discuss easing tensions on the Korean peninsula, according to Russia’s news agency Itar-Tass. Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church.
