GOP Senator: We Are the
Party of the 47 Percent

National Journal, by Michael Catalini

Original Article

Posted By:f64, 1/27/2013 11:11:22 AM

Freshman Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas on Saturday chided the GOP over its 2012 electoral losses, saying "Republicans are and should be the party of the 47 percent," a clear allusion to the remarks caught on video by presidential candidate Mitt Romney during the campaign. Cruz, speaking at the National Review Institute summit in Washington, was quick to say he wasn´t criticizing Romney, but that the party lost a messaging battle with the electorate and that comment was just a symptom of the problem.

Dems get rewarded for lying.

Repubs get bashed for telling the truth.

Same as it ever was.

Romney miscalculated big time when he refused to fight the obama regime with the same zeal with which he attacked his peers in the primary. Did not along with the RNC fight the obvious voter fraud in the swing states. With a six year running for the highest office one would have expected more expertise from his campaign. Don´t blame the voters when it falls on the shoulder of the nominee.

Cruz in office for five minutes. He has all the answers.

Sorry Mr. Cruz, it´s not all about the hispanics who would just love to vote Republican.

They had their chance, they voted for free stuff.

And that´s the problem. Unless you start explaining why Conservatism is a better alternative to Liberal slavery you will always be the party of the 47%... of the vote.

The American people are obviously too stupid to figure it out on their own. You have to make the case which Republicans have failed to do since 1988.

The 47% remark did turn off a lot of potential Romney voters. My husband and I worked hard all our lives till retirement, owned 2 businesses, employed a lot of people, and paid a lot of taxes- a higher % than what Romney pays and yes, I understand he is paying the capital gains rate. But we still paid more than he does.

Now we are retired and get our SSecurity and Medicare which we did contribute to all those working years. So we are part of Romney´s 47%. I voted for Romney, but husband refused to vote rather than vote for someone who would make such an insulting comment to people who have never been takers. But Romney clearly said we were.

Poster #7: Cruz in office for five minutes. He has all the answers.

Unfortunately, in today´s Washington, all it takes is 10 minutes, and the fresh new faces become corrupted, so we need to look to the newest Senators to hear the wisdom of fly-over country.

I am fed up with the power-brokers, the go-along-to-get-along, the good-old-boys, "it´s-my-turn" men who have been steeping in that sewer and have no fresh conservative ideas and morals to lead this country back to its rightful prominence on the world stage. The entire Republican leadership, both in Congress and the RNC could fall off the map as far as I am concerned, to be replaced be the likes of Ted Cruz, Herman Cain and Sarah Palin. This country deserves a national conservative voice.

I held my nose and voted for Romney, only because I hated the alternative.
I proudly voted for Sarah Palin, praying that John McCain would soon develop "health problems" and decide to "spend more time" with his family.

#1 has it nailed.

#4 never ceases to appear contradictory to what we are saying and somewhat trollish....many different topics and many different days, always the response(calling Mitt Romney "stupid") a troll would shoot at us.

I´m proud to be conservative, a veteran, and a Romney voter. I really think he won this recent fraudulent rip-off of an "election"....Any-hoo..... Like #1 says, no matter what we say or do, our words, our soulful stirrings, our heartfelt love of the USA gets twisted and we get sarcastically ridiculed by the far-left ass-press enemedia rump-swab lap-dog Barry Hussein-adoring liars...happens every DAY! And I am so sick of it! If we nominated GOD or Jesus, they´d rag on them and try to convince the low-vo´s that they are evil rich hateful men who must be stopped!
Speaking of those low-information voters, take some advice from a guy born in ´49 who has seen a boatload of American History throughout the 50´s, 60´s, 70´s, 80´s, 90´s, 10´s.....wow!

One of the working papers for the recent Jewish People Policy international conference, entitled "Jewish Identity and Identification: New Patterns, Meanings, and Network´s," posed the question whether the Jewish community´s altered material and political circumstance "entail a long-term shift from identification with the have-nots to identification with the haves." Obamacare Is Still Vulnerable

President Obama has won reelection, and his administration has asked state officials to decide by Friday, November 16, whether their state will create one of Obamacare’s health-insurance “exchanges.” States also have to decide whether to implement the law’s massive expansion of Medicaid. The correct answer to both questions remains a resounding no. State-created exchanges mean higher taxes, fewer jobs, and less protection of religious freedom. States are better off defaulting to a federal exchange. The Medicaid expansion is likewise too costly and risky a proposition.

I live in Las Vegas. I live and breath Nevada politics. Something is very wrong. Something smells rotten in the Nevada desert. And Senator Harry Reid’s fingerprints are all over it. I am of course referring to the Bundy Ranch siege. This was a dispute between a Nevada ranching family with rights to the land in question for 140 years and the BLM (Bureayu of Land Management). The government claims they haven’t paid grazing fees for 20 years. The result was a government assault on the ranch- including snipers with assault rifles, SUV’s, helicopters, airplanes and over 200 heavily armed troops. No

When it comes to tracking the cost of Obama family vacations, there are two primary challenges. First, the Obamas are prolific jet-setters, so there are many details to track. Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. But we have been relentless in pursuit of this information. Our attorneys file the lawsuits and make our case, and our investigators pour through pages of records and crunch the numbers. And the information we’ve uncovered – information that would otherwise remain under lock and key – shows that the

Look, everyone loves Sean Connery, particularly Sean Connery. That’s why he plays Sean Connery in every movie he’s in. People love that Scottish brogue so much, they don’t mind that he has it when he plays Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez, an immortal Spaniard in Highlander. The guy even won an Oscar for playing an Irish cop with a Scottish accent. Talk about sexist double standards: Meryl Streep has to master foreign dialects to get her golden statuettes. Connery just has to show up on time. In economics you devalue a currency by printing too much of it. In film you

Toddlers show racial bias when picking playmates, a study reveals. They also take account of how fairly others behave. Researchers tested the reaction of white 15-month-olds as toys were distributed. Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports. And the babies are more likely to help those who share the same ethnicity, which is known as

Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Out of left field, the state Republican Party, or the Brown campaign, or some blogger, would launch a rocket at me,” Warren wrote, adding, ”I was stunned by the attacks.” This reporter (blogger?) reported extensively

WASHINGTON — Former President Jimmy Carter joined fellow Nobel laureates Wednesday in opposing Keystone XL, insisting that approving the pipeline would trigger “more climate upheaval” around the globe. In an open letter to President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry, Carter and the nine other Nobel Peace Prize winners bluntly warned the leaders: “Your decision on the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline will define your climate legacy.” The missive, published as an advertisement in Politico, represents the first time Carter has taken a position on the $5.4 billion project and makes him the first former president to come

How do you ensure that you won’t be ostracized, denounced, or fired if you are a media celebrity, captain of industry, or high public official? For some, sexist banter is certainly no problem. Stand-up comedian Bill Maher called Sarah Palin a c–t and a tw-t, but suffered no ill consequences. David Letterman joked on air that Sarah Palin’s 14-year-old daughter had had sex with Alex Rodriguez during a New York Yankees game. There was no downside to that either. President Obama tosses around “sweetie” as he wishes. No problem with that. No one believes Barack could be condescending to women.

With Easter soon approaching, the Rev. Al Sharpton on Wednesday drew parallels between the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the resurrection of President Obama’s political career. Joining the “Tom Joyner Morning Show,” Mr. Sharpton said that his message for this Easter is that “no matter what the world may do to you unfairly, no matter how you’re crucified — nailed to the cross at home, or in your personal relationships, or on the job — that you can rise if you don’t lose yourself during the hard times and the challenges.” The reverend went on to say that Christ endured so much humiliation and unearned suffering leading up to his death,

The cash infusion by the federal government is actually going to help the city pay pensions, even though they´re playing a kind of shell game with the money. As for "blight removal," perhaps they could start with city hall. Reuters: Michigan officials and President Barack Obama´s Administration are discussing a plan to free up $100 million in federal money to aid Detroit´s retired city workers, the Detroit Free Press reported on Tuesday. Citing two people familiar with the talks, the newspaper said the talks were centered around federal money flowing to Michigan for blight removal. Under the plan, $100 million
