As Obama takes up immigration,
strategy poses a challenge

Los Angeles Times, by Kathleen Hennessey, Christi Parsons*

WASHINGTON — As President Obama settles on a strategy to overhaul the nation´s immigration laws, he faces a quandary that speaks volumes about the bitter nature of politics in a divided capital: The very fact that a plan has Obama´s name on it might be enough to kill it. (Snip) Republicans, they say, would feel compelled to oppose a bill identified explicitly with the president. Better, they advise, to announce broad principles and avoid particulars, even if that means violating a campaign pledge to propose legislation. Obama promised to do that in his first campaign, did not deliver,

It could not be possible that the opposition might be based on principle.

Liberals not only know your evil motives but they know them before you do.

Who´s kidding who? The GOP establishment has been working towards "immigration reform" since the last one, when Reagan was supposedly duped into amnesty. The most recent President Bush was warming up his signing arm as McCain and others in the Senate were preparing to deliver a bill...and then the people spoke up and scared them off. This is a slam dunk. Republicans are "negotiating", which means the old "bi-partisan" fix is in. The vote may be close for public effect, but it will pass both chambers easily.

Strategy of governing has always been a problem for Obama. Sheriff Joe showed how easy it was to check whether the convicted prisoners in jail were legal. That created a problem for ICE because they knew their status and location. Obama couldn´t decide whether to let them loose on the streets or deport them, so he just terminated the 287 (g) program.

Th strategy is to drag this out to Nov 2014 so that the racist GOP can be blamed for not liking people just because they broke a silly little law , that one time.

This article fits right in with a previous one whereby John Boehner says there is bi-partisan support for immigration reform. Sure john, let`s get this done ASAP so millions of new Hispanics can vote democrat in Nov. 2014 and sweep the GOP out of the House, possibly forever.

I swear, the republicans have a death wish. Obama does`nt need to demonize the GOP to destroy them. They are doing it to themselves.

STOP calling ILLEGAL immigration "immigration". The U. S. immigration
policy is fine. It is the "illegal
immigration " situation that is a
major problem because our Governments
refuse to follow U>S> laws. If you cross
the border into the U>S without a proper
reason or proper documentation you are ILLEGALLY in this Country. Try doing that
in China or most other Countries in the World. The result isn´t pretty.

(Video) Jakarta, Indonesia- Search and recovery teams have again halted their perilous task of looking for victims from the recent volcanic eruptions of Indonesia´s Mount Sinabung, disaster officials said. The death toll currently stands at 15 after plumes of ash spewed more than a mile into the sky Saturday and descended in superheated clouds. Scalding ash up to 700 degrees in temperature raced down the slope in just two to three minutes, engulfing Sukameriah, a village close to the volcano´s crater. A funnel of smoke, visible from kilometers away, has continued to shoot up from the North Sumatra mountain, turning

Sizemore appeared on HuffPost Live Wednesday to categorically refute his previous words, attributing them to “the ravings of a drug-addicted actor.” One of Sizemore’s claims in this supposed audio clip was that he had a very personal moment with Clinton who demanded Hurley’s number. Sizemore made it clear at the outset: “No, it’s not true. I was never at the White House and I’d

With terrorist threats, homophobic attacks, and diplomatic tensions, many have questioned whether Sochi is ready to hold the Winter Olympic Games. Now, just days away from the landmark event, the first images have emerged of the city´s unprepared hotels. And it seems the doubtful were right. The few that did get rooms, were met with stray dogs, half-built walls, and toxic yellow water spitting from the sinks. One hotel lobby had no floor - but

WASHINGTON — President Obama´s comments in a pre-Super Bowl interview about the tax exemptions of political groups have reignited the partisan debate on Capitol Hill over the Internal Revenue Service´s role in policing political speech. With IRS Commissioner John Koskinen testifying at a House subcommittee Wednesday for this first time since his confirmation in December, Republicans and Democrats argued anew over the IRS´s admission last May that it improperly targeted Tea Party groups. On Sunday, Obama told Fox News the controversy came out of "bone-headed decisions" in the agency´s Cincinnati office and "not even a smidgen of corruption." "This committee

WASHINGTON — Conservative Republicans on Wednesday ruled out any immigration legislation in the House this year, insisting that the GOP should wait until next year when the party might also control the Senate. House GOP leaders unveiled their broad immigration principles last week that gave hope to advocates and the Obama administration that the first changes in the nation’s laws in three decades might happen in the coming months. Immigration legislation is one of the top priorities for Obama’s second term. But several of the conservatives were adamant that the House should do nothing on the issue this year, a

The Congressional Budget Office estimated on Tuesday that the Affordable Care Act will reduce the number of full-time workers by 2.5 million over the next decade. That is mostly a good thing, a liberating result of the law. Of course, Republicans immediately tried to brand the findings as “devastating” and stark evidence of President Obama’s health care reform as a failure and a job killer. It is no such thing. The Affordable Care Act, aka ObamaCare, became law almost four years ago. It became operational last Oct. 1. Yesterday, Feb. 4, 2014, the ACA may well have been dealt its death blow. The Congressional Budget Office released a major study of the government’s budget and its effect on the overall economy over the next 10 years. In dull bureaucratic language, it delivers a devastating analysis of the inefficiencies, ineffectualities and problematic social costs of ObamaCare. The one-two punch: Virtually as many Americans will lack health coverage in 10 years as before the law was passed — but 2 million fewer
