Sarah Palin’s Long
Fox News Sign Off

New York Magazine, by Gabriel Sherman

Original Article

Posted By:MissMolly, 1/27/2013 6:05:03 AM

In September 2008, Sarah Palin secretly met with Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes during her campaign tour through New York, a stop which included a friendly chit-chat with Henry Kissinger and a not-so-friendly chit-chat with Katie Couric. The private sit-down was a chance for Ailes and Palin to get to know each other. Ailes, who has said, "I never did focus groups on any talent I put on the air. It was all done out of my gut," spotted something early in the former Alaska Governor.

Comments:
Sherman has written an unauthorized biography of Ailes.

Had my suspicions, but started anyway. Lost me on "Palin was outraged that her incendiary rhetoric was cited in connection with the Tuscon tragedy" or some such. What a dishonest bit of liberal reimagining and spinning! Liberals have their tropes; Bush lied people died, Palin "targeting" districts got Giffords shot, scary features on a gun make it an "assault weapon," and when they get a meme they like, nothing can move them off of them, truth be damned.

Fox chose Karl Rove over Sarah Palin. That says it all for me.
No longer watch Fox (or listen to Sean Hannity) for that reason.

FTA: Although it seems like a stretch, the source said Palin is happy being out of the spotlight. "She´s enjoying what she’s doing. Enjoying a slowed down existence," the source explained. "She´s been off the stage, she kind of likes it."

#5 I agree. The problem is she doesn´t have the "proper education" from an Ivy League school. I think a lot of the problems the country is now facing is because of all those leftists from those schools are now running the country. They think they know it all and most have never worked a day. Everything is handed to them because of where they went to college. If I had my way I would shut them all down and fire all the progressive profs and start all over again. I loath the elites from these colleges who believe they are better than the rest of us state college educated plebs.

May be true....maybe not. We all know how people will lie about Palin. This the New Yorket magazine. Run by liberals who hate Palin and any other conservative. My first thought is that liberals lie and will accept any article that sheds a negative view on those they hate. I´m not a Big Palin fan but trust her words more than any liberal.

Conviction and courage will get you no where in this political climate. Anyone who shows a willingness to fight the status quo is immediately marginalized. The ruling class has no use for people who don´t know "their place". Only the elite Ivy League types or those who suck up to them will advance. Conservative warriors need not apply. This attitude is killing the Republican brand. God speed Gov. Palin. You aren´t the problem. People like you are the solution.

I will probably get blasted for this but Sarah Palin is not electable and never was. That aw shucks country girl way she speaks makes her come off as unintelligent and although I have no doubt she isn´t stupid she works hard at sounding like she is. That plays well with some people but not so much for a lot of others. And yes the media unfairly beat the crap out of here but she started whining constantly about it and never developed the skills to deal with them. There. I said it.

Opinions are tolerated including, Uranus is 99.2% cobalt, but to be taken seriously one needs to be grounded in reality. Unlike the usual suspects who have never been elected to anything of any consequence, Palin was elected Gov. Whether she can achieve higher office remains to be seen. Because of her glam looks and persona, the green eyed monster is always lurking close to the surface among the old hen gaggle; all of whom were big fans of doofus Romney. Predictable.

Rove-Ailes-Palin. None behaved really well. Ailes has bosses, and he must make money. Rove has a lot of clout since he has a twice-elected ex-President behind him. Palin was the acknowledged vote-getter in the McCain campaign...to the point that McCain worried that she´d outshine him (which she did) and muzzled her.

Rove is the old Establishment Republican Party who will fight the Tea Party at all costs. I´d like to see him gone and out of my world.
Palin is Tea Party...young and attractive, honest and totally conservative. I see her as the voice of our future...once we get rid of the Republican Establishment.

So my take is that Rove bugged Ailes to lean on Palin and Palin over-reacted to being leaned upon to the point where she could have (and should have) showed more respect for the contract she signed with Fox.

Rove needs to get lost. Palin needs a good manager whose advice she will follow even when she doesn´t want to. Ailes, if he can, needs to quit turning Fox into an Establishment mouthpiece and become the voice of the Tea Party. He´s losing money now and he will have to quit treading water in the next couple years, I think.

New school lunch standards implemented as a result of First Lady Michelle Obama’s anti-obesity campaign have led to more than 1 million children leaving the lunch line, according to a new report. The new standards led to kids throwing out their fruits and vegetables, student boycotts, higher lunch costs, and odd food pairings such as “cheese stick with shrimp” in order for schools to comply with the

In Fiscal Year 2013, the official federal deficit was $680 billion. Liberals have cheered this drop while subsequently ignoring how this deficit is both larger than all of Bush’s pre-recession deficits and is expected to grow dramatically over the next several decades. However, the Treasury Department’s annual report on the finances of the U.S. federal government shows that not only is $680 billion an incomplete measure of the federal government’s finances, it’s off by nearly a factor of five. From Just Facts Daily: The U.S. Treasury has just released its annual “Financial Report of the United States Government,” which provides an account of

As the Tea Party celebrates its five-year anniversary, many commentators are asking whether the grassroots anti–Big Government movement is still relevant. In some ways, this seems a silly question. The Tea Party has been enormously successful in changing the terms of the national debate on issues such as debt and spending. And, while its favored candidates have suffered some high-profile defeats, it has also won important victories. The Republican midterm sweep of 2010 would not have been possible without its energy and enthusiasm. Yet it’s also true that the Tea Party’s clout is waning. Where Lois Lerner goes, drama follows. On Wednesday, the former IRS officer again invoked the Fifth before the House Oversight Committee. That precipitated a heated exchange between the committee’s Republican chairman, Darrell Issa, and Democratic ranking member Elijah Cummings, who called the hearings “un-American.” And that spat has become the story. No doubt that is exactly what Cummings had in mind. Because it distracts attention from the substance of the hearings — and from the questions raised by e-mails and public remarks Lois Lerner wrote, received or made when she was IRS Director of Tax Exempt Organizations.
