Republican vote-rigging
New York Post, by Editorial

Original Article

Posted By:MissMolly, 1/27/2013 4:59:04 AM

How the worm has turned. After the 2000 presidential cliffhanger, in which Al Gore won the popular vote but George W. Bush won the election, Democrats led the charge in demanding the abolition of the Electoral College. Now that President Obama has been re-elected, Republicans are trying to change the formula by which the states allocate these votes. Both are bad ideas. Republicans are focused on purple states where they control both the governorship and the legislature — but where voters still went for Obama in November. Partly that’s because Democrats still dominate the large cities in these states.

Personally, I´m not in favor of abolishing the EC altogether. But people are fed up with big cities overriding their votes. Example being NY as a red state, but forced to support dems thanks to NYC. CA with LA & SF, NV with Las Vegas, PA with Philly, and the list goes on. It was a bad idea to only want this in battleground states. The rules should apply to everyone, or to no one. But there has to be some method of bringing votes down to the district level so people don´t feel disenfranchised by the metropolises.

If the big cities were producing honest votes,I´d probably be against this. But we have no clue how many votes are being stacked in these areas because poll watchers don´t get into the high cheat areas. It´s easy to assume all black people hated Romney but for him to get zero votes in many Philly wards,is hard to believe. How did walker survive two elections in Wis. but Obama still won there?

We heard before the election, both parties had scores of election lawyers spread out but they must have gone home instead of fighting for Col. West who´s election was clearly stolen.

I´m from Pennslyvania and I was one of the voters screaming for the redistribution of electorial votes. It seemed funny that all of the sudden in Phillie districts, that Republican poll watchers were being physically removed from the cites, 100% of the votes were for Obama....this really stinks. YES, make my vote count and this is not vote-rigging. Vote rigging is what happened in Phillie.

This is being considered in the VA legislature this term. I read that Romney would have had the majority of electoral votes over Obama in VA last November. I lean toward not changing this, but I see the point of voter fraud especially In the big cities as a reason to reconsider.

Reply 5 - Posted by: Periwinkel, 1/27/2013 7:43:06 AM     (No. 9141840)

Each state makes its own rules about voting. If you have a party determined to steal a state´s election, I don´t see there is much that can be done...especially when electronic voting machines are used. When a clean election is no longer the goal, anything can happen.

Reply 6 - Posted by: Blue-Z-Anna, 1/27/2013 8:16:45 AM     (No. 9141887)

The pressure is building.

The ´nice people´ who obey the law, work hard, pay the taxes and mind their own damnbidness are being marginalized and demonized, ridden hard and put up wet.

When this gets ugly and violent, let us make sure it is well known just who started it.

Reply 7 - Posted by: gasmeterguy, 1/27/2013 8:47:47 AM     (No. 9141935)

I like this idea. But I would like it better if all the states did this.

At least distributing the EC votes among the Congressional districts would make stuffing the ballot boxes a major undertaking. Right now, all the dems have to stuff are the boxes in the major cities.

Force the vote rigging to encompass the entire state and you have a whole new ball game.

Two points:

a. Screeching halt half-way through the first sentence: there is no such thing as a "popular vote" for President in the US. Got it, NY Post?

b. Drop the idea that all will be well "if we just scrap [or fix or get a make-over for] the Electoral College." It wont, and thinking it will is as dumb as thinking gun-free zones protect anyone but murderous lunatics. C´mon, think -- these are the same people who knowingly and intentionally
gave themselves carte blanche to violate insider-trading laws that would put any of us in jail. Whose personal net worth skyrockets faster than electricity rates under Obama. Does anyone seriously think this change or that change will matter to the people who steal, block, and manufacture-as-needed votes in the tens-of-millions?

Let´s start by jailing some of the voting-law criminals from the 2012 elections.

Keep the EC. What loyal Americans are sick of is voter fraud by Obama´s libber sychophants. As is voting (often) without having to present ID!

Only in America could you need to present a driver´s license to cash a check or buy alcohol, but not to vote.

Reply 11 - Posted by: geneinnyc, 1/27/2013 1:13:40 PM     (No. 9142454)

Dems need to drop their idea of awarding all of a state´s EC votes to whoever wins the popular vote nationwide, then talk to me.

As for the GOP idea, two states already award EC votes by congressional district and no one ever called it vote-rigging, so I fail to see the logic of opposition.

My preference is to keep the EC as it is in most states, but if one state is going to change its method, then everything is fair game, as long as it´s constitutional.

Germany could neither accept nor understand its defeat in the Great War so it bought into the canard that Communists, Homosexuals, Jews etc. ´stabbed the Fatherland in the back´.
In fact, Germany was defeated by grossly incompetent generalship at the decisive Battle of the Marne. Fast fwd to ´13. The wail is that Romney lost due to voter fraud. Absolute and utter malarkey. In virtually every battleground state all Executive and Legislative Offices are held by R´s. So they all conspired w/Alexrod to rig the election did they??? Sure. Does voter fraud exist? Yes, mostly in solid blue urban areas which increases the D vote from 55% to 59%!!!
Romney lost because he was a feckless and inept candidate which he proved emphatically in ´08. He stood for nothing and the majority of voters knew it in their bones; so better the incompetent devil they knew than the devil they didn´t. Principled conservatives warned repeatedly that Romney was an utter disaster waiting to happen and sure enough, he was.

A couple of months ago, François Hollande was presented with a baby camel by local authorities in Timbuktu in appreciation for France’s military action against Islamist militants in Mali. The animal did not come quietly. Hollande had initially hoped to have the camel vaccinated and transported to a Parisian zoo, but decided it would be easiest for the French and best for the beast if it were entrusted to a local Timbuktu family who had suffered damage to their property from French tanks. It appears that his trust was misplaced.

Justin Timberlake concerts for King Obama… but no Blue Angels for Americans… KomoNews reports the following: SEATTLE — The annual summer Blue Angels show over Seattle has fallen victim to federal budget cuts. Seafair spokeswoman Melissa Jurcan said the festival received official word from the Navy on Tuesday morning that the fighter jet demonstration team would not be making the trip to Seattle for 2013. Sequestration prompted the Department of Defense to prohibit military aerial demonstrations along with other cost savings measures, and the Navy said it was cancelling all remaining Blue Angels performances for the year.

In the late 1950s, the Palm Beach socialite had time to spare and a wealthy husband who owned citrus groves, so she opened an orange juice stand just off the island´s main shopping street. Pulitzer needed to hide all the juice stains on her clothes, though. Instead of just putting on an apron, she asked her seamstress to make some sleeveless dresses

Add the name of Michelle Lynne (ne Robert) Kosilek to the list of modern phenomena the Founding Fathers would definitely not appreciate being blamed for. Little did they know what havoc they would someday wreak by adding the Eighth Amendment to the Constitution to prohibit “cruel and unusual punishment.” Now comes Kosilek, a convicted wife murderer doing life without parole. He/she is claiming that it would be cruel and unusual punishment to deny him/her a sex-change operation — excuse me, “gender-reassignment surgery.”Not to get too graphic, but Kosilek is begging for elective amputation of a body part.

Two very bad and extremely dangerous economic developments happened yesterday — and Wall Street appeared to miss both of them. The Dow Jones industrial average fell 40.86 points to 14565.25 after the Labor Department announced that the seasonally adjusted number of new jobs created in March was just 88,000 — far below the 190,000 or so Wall Street expected. The March figure was also less than one-third the number of jobs created during February. This led to the misperception that the job market tanked in March. It didn’t.
