Fox Made Limited Effort
to Keep Sarah Palin

Daily Beast, by Howard Kurtz

Original Article

Posted By:FlyRight, 1/26/2013 8:58:43 AM

Fox News offered Sarah Palin a new contract before she decided to part ways with the network where she has held forth as a commentator for the last three years. However, it would be hard to describe it as a generous contract.Palin was a hot property when Roger Ailes landed her in 2009, fresh off her colorful run for vice president, and paid her an annual salary of $1 million. Fox even built Palin a studio at her Wasilla home. But relations cooled between the two sides, and Palin was appearing on Fox less often—complaining on Facebook one night

For many years I have been addicted to the FOX channel but that is changing.
Since they started the leftist lean my viewing of FOX News is limited to "The Five"(unless Juan Williams is on the panel) and the 6 PM news with Brett Baier.

Rollcall reports, from Fox sources, that SP was offered $300,000 per year, a 70% salary cut, to continue with them. It´s a face-saving (for both parties) way of getting rid of unwanted personnel. She´s allowed to say they offered her a contract, and that she refused it. No hard feelings--at least in public--on either side.

IMO Sarah is at cross roads in more ways than one. She could jump in with both feet. The 2014 Alaska Senate seat is hers for the asking. Sure the Media hounds will re-attack her. But what are they going to do that they haven´t tried already. A stark background of every prediction she made coming true and a new nationwide swing towards Common Sense Conservative values (a phrase she coined) could see her reach her true potential Whatever that is. On the other hand she could quietly fade away into the sunset. She has done a lot and done her family well.

#4, I believe your premise is flawed regarding the Alaska senate seat. Alaskans have been very unhappy with Palin since she abandoned them, as governor. Is there a recent poll showing otherwise?

Whatever SP decides to do next will be far and above anything FOX has to offer. Like all media, FOX´s revenues are tanking. The Super Bowl bump for all media will be temporary and seasonal.

I´m hoping to see "Sara unleashed", but sadly realize what the US will see of her will come from the "lame stream media" and we know their modus operandi!

At first I thought that the Senate wouldn´t be a good fit for her, as she is a natural chief executive, and that wind tunnel would not work to her advantage. But since the election, I think the Senate is a natural for her. She would give the Republican party some much needed spinal resolve. She would have a media bull horn to use at her convenience, and could make life miserable for the administration.

I can never pass up a chance to post on one of my favorite conservatives as there are few left like Palin,DeMint,Cruz,Rand Paul,Rubio & Gomert. "Team Sarah" still rolls & even "Game Change" couldn´t hide some of her accomplishments like one of the last lines "don´t worry nobody will remember her name in 48 hours" - ha nobody will forget her name. Hopefully she will run for House or Senate - people will still come to hear her speak & even some of you Ldotter posters cannot ruin her principles!!!!

I believe she´s working on a conservative-style radio program of her own (ala Laura Ingram) on satellite.

Reply 12 - Posted by: comstock, 1/26/2013 11:01:24 AM     (No. 9140456)

It´s all about her speaking style. Palin was brilliant and fresh in her nomination acceptance speech. But McCain´s idiot campaign "consultants" tried to make her into something she´s not, and failed. Her elocution was shrill, they said, so they tried to train her to speak with a deeper voice. Her sentence structure was awkward, so they tried to change that and what was formerly quirky but natural became unintelligible. They handed a gift package to the scorning LSM who had honed their skills criticizing "cowboy" Bush´s speaking style.

Her last few appearances on FOX the disaster was manifest. She would start speaking in a low monotone, and in complete, but boring sentences, then she would revert to her natural style. The contrast was stark, and unnerving. It became difficult to HEAR what she was saying, because it sounded like gibberish. The consultants and speech coaches ruined her.

Nope, she has no chance of being elected to the Senate . I just read that every person in Alaska hates her for answering the call of duty when asked by John McCain to try to help her country avoid Barack Hussein Obama. The team didn´t win because everybody hates Palin-not only those residing in Alaska but at least one troll who frequents this thread.

I think Sarah is wonderful, personally, but she needs to work on her persona. Her voice gets increasingly shrill when she´s being interviewed, for example. She needs to quit being "the housewife from Wasilla" and look professional everywhere she goes. If that means not wearing jeans and t-shirts to the grocery store, so be it.

Ronald Reagan did not become president because he just decided to run one day. He had criss-crossed the country, speaking to adults and children alike about the promise of our country, a lot of times in elementary and middle schools. He did that for about twenty years before he ran for governor of California. Also, he was smart enough to have the very best people around him. Mrs. Palin could study his story and learn a lot from it.

I think Palin is no longer interested and it shows. Good luck to her in the future, but it won´t be in politics. BTW, the last poll numbers in Alaska were 18 months ago (June,2011) and her favorability was 29%.

After her convention speech the word went out from the rulers to the MSM soldiers "she must be destroyed". And so she was. Even so called conservatives fell into the trap.

They slobber over homely Michelle´s clothes and criticized Sarah for wearing borrowed clothes. As already pointed out - how can one criticize Sarah´s voice yet praise Hillary´s? They trashed her for Trig, tried to claim infidelity in her marriage, almost sued her into bankruptcy and she had to quit her job to make it stop. These people are evil.

So now her approval in Alaska has gone from in the 80s to the 20s??? What weak minded lemmings. Frankly, I support whatever she decides to do including spending a lot of time enjoying the Arizona sun and never bothering with this mess again.

# 4 The Senate seat up in 2014 is not
" hers for the asking ".
The present Senator , Democrat Mark Begich ,
supports issues that are popular with Alaskans
like drilling in ANWR and gun rights.
He´s not a typical Democrat.
The present Lt Gov of Alaska , popular Republican Mead Treadwell announced two months ago
that he is forming an exploratory committee
to seek the Republican nomination
to challenge Begich.
And Tea Party Joe Miller is also talking about challenging Begich.

Fox has been attempting to mainstream themselves for some time. The shows have become formulaic and boring with the use of more left wingers with their canned talking points. The best show I´ve seen on Fox lately is ´Boomtown´ with Sean Hannity. It brought his show to life for the first time in a long time. For the most part I record to iPod my favorite radio people and listen to them throughout the day and night. Most of the time they are opining on events of the day that I have already read about during my morning online reading. It is their zest for truth that is attractive rather than having to hear the ´half liars´ required to prove you are fair and balanced.

Sarah will always be under estimated by the right thinking media, because they suffer from the fear of not being loved by the leftists. Alas!

She has negatives because she has simply ignored the whole image creation issue. This woman is charisma personified. Don´t underrate her. If she doesn´t want to do it, that is another matter.

The cliche´ that ´Palin abandoned Alaska´ is a canard. Like the Roman General Cincinnatus, she chose her family over politics w/all its dishonorable and low character types; a reality that is beyond obvious. Apparently, some consider politics a kind of higher calling akin to the Priesthood. Utter nonsense. As for FOX, it´s little more than a bimbo network filled
w/noisy mediocrities like Hannity and O´Reilly. Small loss.

The, ´´platform,´´ FOX gave to Gov. Palin was skimpy at best and much too confining for her. By so limiting Palin´s appearences, FOX did a dis-service to both Gov. Palin and to the FOX viewers who had expected to see more of her commentaries. The FOX ratings went up whenever she was permitted to speak, yet viewers could never know for sure when she would be scheduled.

In contrast, FOX viewers will click the remote when Kusinich appears, as he did this morning. Incredibly bad decisions are apparently being made at FNC these days. Now THAT´S a sad commentary.

Fox has shot itself in one foot and will probably do same to it´s other foot in short order. I wonder by how much their viewership has declined? IMHO The Five and Lou Dobbs on FBN are their only shows worth watching regularly. Greta has flashes of brilliance when she brings various congressmen/women to our notice, but her court case work-ups are big losers. I will support whatever Sarah Palin sees as her future on or off the public stage. She is a force for good, and I will not count her out under any circumstances.

Although the first votes on gun -control legislation have yet to be cast, by some measures the National Rifle Association has already won. The NRA claims that the president’s efforts have triggered a fundraising surge and boosted its membership from 4 million to nearly 5 million.

Signs of the problem surfaced Friday, in a dismal jobs report that showed U.S. labor force participation rates falling last month to the lowest levels since 1979,

Over the past decade, between a third and a half of all zombie movies ever made have been released.
