Her essay was scheduled to be published in the December issue of Mrs Clinton´s e-journal titled Go Wild Coming Together for Conservation as part of the Secretary of State´s endangered species initiative.

In Clinton´s State Dept., ambassadors are an endangered species.

The world is not overpopulated. We may have too many people clustered in small areas (big cities), but there is plenty of room. To put it into perspective, the entire population of the US could live in Texas, two people each in a 2,000 square foot home on a quarter acre. We don´t have a population problem; we have a land use problem.

The population of the USA is growing at the rate of a 3rd world country. Almost all of the growth is due to immigration, legal and otherwise. Overpopulation is a myth. Europe and Japan have declining populations. Populations that are not at replacement rates face decimation within just a few generations. It´s the reverse Malthusian effect. Immigration can fill the gap, but is that what we want? Unfortunately, there is a war on native population growth here by the proponents of abortion, gay marriage, free birth control and the demonization of people with large families (see, for instance, the Duggars).

Re: the demonization of large families. Consider that the average muslim family in the USA has 7 children. Anyone critical of muslim family size is subject to a fatal attack from the PC thought police.

Bindi still has a right to her opinion no matter what others may think and those who believe they know more than she does.

Bindi has a right to free speech but the person paying for the megaphone has the final say in what goes out.

She agreed to write an essay on conservation but Bindi added overpopulation as a subject. As a result, they edited out the part they did not request. No biggie. Bindi is great at publicity, though.

Yeah I know she probably has dual citizenship her mother was from Oregon and a highly envolved in green peace and other wacked out groups, but this girl is writing from Australia and hasn´t a clue to what she is saying.
like # 4 wrote the ENTIRE world can fit into a space the size of Texas and each person would have 1100 square feet of room. do the math! that leave a whole lot of space left. But of course people living in cities don´t know that, most of them wouldn´t know what to do if they weren´t in arms reach of a corner market to get food.

While I don´t particularly agree with Miss Irwin´s opinions, as someone who has had articles hacked up by idiot editors, my sympathies are with the young lady.

Remember what Shakespeare said: "First, we´ll hang all the lawyers"? Well, right after them come (most) editors (I had one very good one who made me cut a 12,000 word story to 4,000 words and made me a much better writer. But he was the exception).

I´ve even submitted articles with the proviso: "Please run this in its entirety. If wordage must be cut, let me know, and I´ll do it."

So foolish though her opinions might be (I had some foolish opinions at 14), I side with Miss Irwin.

2 thoughts... Either Bindi is being used to launch the progressive´s plan on sterilization... or she disclosed the plan too soon. I tend to think the editing claim is a farce strawman, to enable her article to get wide distribution.... and getthe low info´s used to accepting sterilization as a Must Do kinda thing.

Bindi´s mother Terri is from Eugene, Oregon which is I am sorry to say, as one commenter put it, very very progressive. Eugene and the greater Portland area are two blue spots in a very red state. But they have the largest population centers and most of the lofo´s.

The overpopulation myth has been around a long time. It is pure evil ideology because its logical conclusion is life has no value. The way to forced sterilization, forced abortion, and euthanasia for the elderly and infirm is paved.
What you wind up with is an excuse for any govt. to execute their citizens.
Let me repeat: the overpopulation myth is purely evil.

He was a big believer in Darwin and limited resources as well.
The only logical next conclusion is to eliminate surplus population.
He decided that first mentally ill, than communists, than gays, than Jews need to be eliminated on order to save earth and Germany limited resources.

I believe in free speech and she can say whatever she wants. However, I do not want a 14 year old lecturing me about climate or population control anymore than I want kids telling me how I should change my views about the 2nd amendment.

Overpopulation is a lie.

Last time I checked the global birth rate was declining. Plus there is some kind of megadeath coming for the human population. Either massive war or pandemic. We have been in a sweet spot for the most part, since 1945. So cheer up Bindi.
