| They are the most unlikely contestants in a verbal battle over conservation – a 14-year-old schoolgirl and arguably the world´s most powerful woman, Hillary Clinton. Bindi Irwin happens to be the daughter of the late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin and the teenager is now snapping at the heels of the U.S. Secretary of State after an essay she wrote for Mrs Clinton´s e-journal was savaged by the editors. Although it is unlikely that Mrs Clinton had a hand in drastically editing Bindi´s 1,000 word essay on conservation, the Australian teenager is furious about the re-worked presentation and has

The planet is not "fragile". Sorry, Bindi, but you´ve been conned.

Her essay was scheduled to be published in the December issue of Mrs Clinton´s e-journal titled Go Wild Coming Together for Conservation as part of the Secretary of State´s endangered species initiative.
In Clinton´s State Dept., ambassadors are an endangered species.

The world is not overpopulated. We may have too many people clustered in small areas (big cities), but there is plenty of room. To put it into perspective, the entire population of the US could live in Texas, two people each in a 2,000 square foot home on a quarter acre. We don´t have a population problem; we have a land use problem.

The population of the USA is growing at the rate of a 3rd world country. Almost all of the growth is due to immigration, legal and otherwise. With the increase in numbers, the country will move left, if not radically left, as hispanic and muslim immigrants are reliable democrat voter blocks. Gimme gimme gimme.
Excuse my selfishness, but I´d rather live in a country of 325 million than a country of 400, 500 or 600 million. With exploding numbers, we can kiss individual liberties good bye, as many restrictions will be slammed down our throats in the name of environmental objectives.

Overpopulation is a myth. Europe and Japan have declining populations. Populations that are not at replacement rates face decimation within just a few generations. It´s the reverse Malthusian effect. Immigration can fill the gap, but is that what we want? Unfortunately, there is a war on native population growth here by the proponents of abortion, gay marriage, free birth control and the demonization of people with large families (see, for instance, the Duggars).

#8 and #13, while I suppose a 14-year-old can be forgiven a lot of ignorance, and is certainly entitled to her opinion, she´s still not entitled to her own facts. Somebody needs to tell her that Paul Ehrlich was thoroughly discredited a long, long time ago.

# 8 & 13 why do australians get free speach in America? The constitution is for AMERICANS not the rest of world. Since when is our freedoms given to others to trash us. Yeah I know she probably has dual citizenship her mother was from Oregon and a highly envolved in green peace and other wacked out groups, but this girl is writing from Australia and hasn´t a clue to what she is saying. like # 4 wrote the ENTIRE world can fit into a space the size of Texas and each person would have 1100 square feet of room. do the math! that leave a whole lot of space left. But of course people living in cities don´t know that, most of them wouldn´t know what to do if they weren´t in arms reach of a corner market to get food.

While I don´t particularly agree with Miss Irwin´s opinions, as someone who has had articles hacked up by idiot editors, my sympathies are with the young lady.
Remember what Shakespeare said: "First, we´ll hang all the lawyers"? Well, right after them come (most) editors (I had one very good one who made me cut a 12,000 word story to 4,000 words and made me a much better writer. But he was the exception).
I´ve even submitted articles with the proviso: "Please run this in its entirety. If wordage must be cut, let me know, and I´ll do it."
So foolish though her opinions might be (I had some foolish opinions at 14), I side with Miss Irwin.

The overpopulation myth has been around a long time. It is pure evil ideology because its logical conclusion is life has no value. The way to forced sterilization, forced abortion, and euthanasia for the elderly and infirm is paved. What you wind up with is an excuse for any govt. to execute their citizens. Let me repeat: the overpopulation myth is purely evil. It makes me sad to hear such a young girl fighting for the right to spread it around.

I might add that Hitler was big believer in overpopulation, I am not making it up, read Main Kampf please. He was a big believer in Darwin and limited resources as well. The only logical next conclusion is to eliminate surplus population. He decided that first mentally ill, than communists, than gays, than Jews need to be eliminated on order to save earth and Germany limited resources. Global warming was not an issue than, but he should be a hero of the movement, think how much CO2 polluters he eliminated from the face of the earth.

Even as Congress prepares to debate whether to legalize 11 million illegal immigrants and give them a path to citizenship, analysts are cautioning lawmakers to focus on the other part of immigration: assimilating them fully into America. All sides in the debate agree that assimilation is critical, but in a report being released Monday, the Hudson Institute, a conservative-leaning think tank, says the country has failed on that account in recent years. They found that immigrants — even those who earn U.S. citizenship — have far less attachment to their new home than native-born Americans.

President Obama lives at a time when there are two very different and very well-defined political ideologies. On the one hand, the GOP is fighting for spending contraints, limited regulation, and more personal economic choice. President Obama and his party are more determined than any administration in U.S. history to promote and execute the idea that federal government is best suited to both meet the needs of the people and run the economy. The most fascinating aspect of this yin and yang pull of ideologies is not just that they are taking place at this time in history,

WASHINGTON— President Barack Obama supports requiring girls younger than 17 to see a doctor before buying the morning-after pill. But fighting that battle in court comes with its own set of risks. A federal judge in New York on Friday ordered the Food and Drug Administration to lift age restrictions on the sale of emergency contraception, ending the requirement that buyers show proof they’re 17 or older if they want to buy it without a prescription. The ruling accused the Obama administration in no uncertain terms of letting the president’s pending re-election cloud its judgment when it

Projecting madly, the White House on Sunday pushed the notion that Republican intransigence is the reason that Democrats have been unable to pass a budget during President Obama’s tenure. “Right now,” said senior White House advisor Dan Pfeiffer on Fox News Sunday, “the approach of many Republicans, particularly the leadership in the House, is my way or the highway.” This is certainly rich coming from an administration that has failed to garner a single “yes” vote on its budget proposals for the past several years, even from members of its own party. No doubt there are parents who have frank, frequent, open and easy discussions with their teens about sex. I’ve never met any. I do know parents, however, who were stunned to find their 15-year-old’s birth control pills in her pocketbook. Or who came home early to discover junior and a girl they’d never met frantically buttoning up. Such sobering tales of teens snookering mom and dad caused mixed emotions in me — a solidly pro-choice

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank

But really she’s something much more interesting: a traitor to her class. Her betrayal consists of being gauche enough to acknowledge publicly a truth that everyone who’s come up through Ivy League culture knows intuitively —

Gluten-free diets are all the rage, but they can be dangerous if not done right. What is gluten? When flour is moistened and either kneaded or mixed into dough, gluten molecules form an elastic, microscopic latticework that traps the carbon dioxide produced when yeast ferments, causing dough to inflate like a hot air balloon. Newtown killer Adam Lanza may have launched his murder spree at Sandy Hook Elementary School as an “act of revenge,” the Daily News has learned. A close friend of Lanza’s mother told The News that the troubled boy was a target of relentless bullying when he attended the Connecticut school years ago. “I think Adam felt betrayed by the school and this was his act of revenge,” said Marvin LaFontaine, a friend of Nancy Lanza’s. “Nancy told me he was being picked on at school. That they were just torturing him.” Source and text corrected by Staff.
