Why Benghazi didn´t bring
down Hillary Clinton

The Week, by Harold Maass

Original Article

Several Republicans spent Wednesday grilling Secretary of State Hillary Clinton about the terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya, which killed U.S. ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) assailed Clinton for failing to read diplomatic cables requesting more security at the consulate, claiming that it was a fireable offense. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) suggested that administration officials had deliberately misled the American people by initially claiming that the attack had started as a spontaneous riot. As Johnson repeatedly pressed her on why she hadn´t discovered

Hillary got lots of air time where she looked competent and capable. Nothing else needs to be said. The only thing standing in the way of her being the Democratic nominee for President is Joe Biden. My money is on Hillary.

She looked like a smirking liar.

Rarely if ever answered a question.

If the powers that be thought she was doing so well they would not have released the meaningless statement that the Pentagon had decided to allow women in combat.

Are we so easily minipulated into believing the msm?

Seems that way. Most of the posts I have seen here on Ldot have been bashing the republicans.

One has to wonder.....

I watched the stupid hearings. Imagine...alternating dhims and repubs.

R´s tried to get in their questions. If they got in just one, she strung out her answer with irrelevant nothings and ran out the clock. If they tried to say everything, she just answered a little bit and let the rest go. They were ineffectual.

Each question had to be prefaced with the obligatory "Thank you O Great One, You are Worthy of Praise for your mileage" ad nauseum. Gack.

The democrats were fawning and eating up the clock with their turns.

What a farce. I should never have watched the whole thing. The stench and the memory are still with me.

Congress has shown itself to be as incompetent and ineffectual as Hillary and her boss. At another place in time she would have resigned in disgrace and disappeared long ago. Also, with the extent of the lies and obvious cover-up, this entire administration would have been brought down.

Of course this didn´t bring Hitlery down. If her husband in name only (HINO) wasn´t brought down for getting a Lewinsky at work and lying about it or an incompetent jerk like Obambi can get elected, then why should this country be concerned about our ambassador getting slaughter in some Hades hole? This issue isn´t why did Hitlery get away with it, the issue is why have we as a country given up on honest effective principled and wise leaders? Al we seemed interested in is someone that can entertain with a good speech or a heck of a TelePrompTer reading.

She just kept the wimpy Republicans on ice until she found out what everybody else was going to say, and then gave her rehearsed performance. By that time what she said made little difference to the large majority of the American people who have little or no knowledge of what actually happened that night in Benghazi, the liberal Democrats who run Washington, DC, or herself. Obviously they were all just trying to cover Obama´s butt until he could get re-elected, even Romney went along with that.

If my memory serves me correctly, Hillary Clinton, when she was still Hillary Rodham, was part of the Watergate team which brought down President Nixon´s presidency. Too bad that Nixon hadn´t thought of that "cute" phrase, "What difference does it make? We have to move forward." Seems like Hillary has changed her tune.

Reply 16 - Posted by: iamtinman, 1/24/2013 9:55:36 AM     (No. 9136178)

In this political environment, there was no way any democrat would dare suggest thet Clinton was anything but perfect in her handling of Benghazi. She will likely be the next presidential candidate, plus she and her wayward husband are essential for the successful campaigns of many of the democrat members of congress. A wounded Hillary does no democrat except for Joe Biden any good.

The media, besides being in the tank for the democrats love, love, love Bill and Hill. They can just recite the administration talking points while sitting on their lazy behinds.

The fix was in folks but cheers to the GOP members of the committee who did make their opinions known. At least some had a hint of courage!

It was a disgusting display of weaklings quaveringly and unctuously approaching the tyrant´s throne, and Dem/Lefties prostituting themselves on the sacrifical altar of naked political power.

Again, the Repubs do not get it: the incurious, intellectually vapid public has been kept ignorant --by the venal and wicked, brown-nosed media in cahoots with the Dem/Left-- of the facts surrounding Benghazi.

Stupid, fawning, silly, shallow "citizens", clutching their condoms and spermicidal gel and free passes for abortatoria, still think that Benghazi is "some guy named Ben Ghazi, you know, like, over there somewhere."

BOSTON — Two explosions at the finish line of the Boston Marathon have resulted in injuries. Bloody spectators were being carried Monday to the medical tent that had been set up to care for fatigued runners. Police wove through competitors as they ran back toward the course. “There are a lot of people down,” said one man, whose bib No. 17528 identified him as Frank Deruyter of North Carolina. He was not injured, but marathon workers were carrying one woman, who did not appear to be a runner, to the medical area as blood gushed from her leg. A Boston police officer was wheeled from the course with a leg injury that was bleeding.

The state’s largest gun owners’ group will seek a preliminary injunction in federal court today to block several sections of Gov. Cuomo’s tough new anti-gun law, including a bizarre provision that even the governor can’t justify, The Post has learned. The unusual section of the new SAFE Act takes effect today, and while it allows legal gun owners to put 10 bullets in the magazines of their semiautomatic rifles and pistols during competitions at shooting ranges, it makes it illegal for them to put more than seven bullets in the same gun magazines

As he seeks to extend the discussion about a possible candidacy for mayor — and shift attention away from the online sex-messaging scandal that cost him his Congressional seat — Anthony D. Weiner released a 21-page policy booklet on Sunday that he described as a blueprint for keeping New York City “the capital of the middle class.” The document, named “Keys to the City,” was largely drawn from a booklet of the same title, theme, and format that he distributed five years ago, in anticipation of a mayoral bid in 2009 that he later abandoned.

LESS is sometimes more. That was the message delivered this week by Meghna Das Thakur of the Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research, in Emeryville, California, to the American Association for Cancer Research’s meeting in Washington, DC. If a cancer evolves resistance to the drug being used to treat it, withdrawing that drug can sometimes stop the cancer in its tracks as effectively as prescribing treatment in the first place. Oncologists have suspected this for a while. Dr Thakur has, however, proved it is true—at least in the specific case of malignant melanoma and a drug called vemurafenib.

THE traditional American mass media — the crumbling, Internet-besieged edifice of newspapers and news shows, magazines and roundtables and journalism schools — evolved to believe with equal vigor in two not entirely compatible ideals. One is an ideal of balance, nonpartisanship and near-perfect neutrality — distilled to its essence, perhaps, by the former Washington Post editor Leonard Downie Jr.’s longstanding refusal to cast a vote, “so that I never make up my mind which party, candidate or ideology should be in power.”

Since he first became a presidential candidate, President Obama must have spent millions of dollars in legal expenses to combat dozens of so-called "birther" challenges seeking the original documents pertaining to his birth. As president, he famously issued an electronic document on the White House website in 2011; the document purported to be his long-form birth certificate, though it is apparently a forgery. In addition, he has taken great pains to hide the paper trail of passport records, college transcripts, and other data -- all of which a prospective employer might require of a job applicant.

Is media bias to blame for lack of Gosnell coverage? Or something far more banal? The trial of Philadelphia doctor Kermit Gosnell would seem to have all the elements of a spectacular news story: shocking allegations, horrifying visuals, sympathetic victims. Yet until late last week, much of the national media was silent as testimony about Gosnell’s alleged “house of horrors” abortion clinic rolled out. Much of the media attention outside Philadelphia, in fact, centered on how little media attention the story was receiving outside Philadelphia.
