Women in combat? Pentagon says yes

| The thought of women dodging bullets and bombs in combat may have seemed jarringly out of place in earlier eras of Doughboys and G.I. Joes and the wars of the previous century. But for anyone familiar with today´s troops and the missions they face — or who has paused to read the names of this nation´s combat casualties — the historic move by the Pentagon to open up front-line roles to women is hardly a shock.(Snip)Women are serving and have been serving in uniform alongside their male counterparts in Afghanistan and did so in Iraq for much of the past decade,

This is a very bad idea on a lot of levels. For that reason, it will probably become reality in this insane asylum named Washington, D.C. And the way it was announced illustrated once again that Congress is completely irrelevant.

Women have no place on the front lines. They aren´t as strong as men and have personal body issues that men just don´t. If they decide to do this, it should be only if the woman volunteers for it.

All I can say is this is stupid, stupid, stupid, and it will cost lives. Both male and female lives.
Early this morning someone sent me Michael Yon´s comments, and he is right on target.

In order to please some critics expect the defense to be women may "volunteer" but not be required to serve in front lines. Career military females not "volunteering" for front line duties will be placed at a disadvantage for promotions and choice duties.

Physiological fact: even fit, athletic women have, on average, 50% less upper-body strength as men.
Some will dispute this on account of the fact that women generate the same force per unit of muscle as men. Of course. But women have a lot bigger fat-to-muscle ratio than men. And we hAVE to. If a woman´s fat-to-muscle ratio goes down below about 14%, she stops producing estrogen, which is the very hormone that maintains bone strength in women.
In other words, train til you´ve gotten rid of all the feminine body ratios, and you go hormone-deficient, your bones go brittle, your muscles get inflammatory, and you get disabled by pressure fractures and shin-splints when you run, esp. carrying a heavy pack.
And In combat what are the men in the unit going to do? Carry them? Or more likely, the men will constantly be pulled back to help the women.
THis is going to get people killed.
And they say conservatives have a "War on Women.":o/.

Our headlong descent into barbarism is accelerating rapidly. What civilization can survive when it sends its women, its mothers, its FUTURE, overseas to fight and die? And please tell me what they will be fighting for; this unlawful and illegitimate government? Unrestricted abortion? Homosexual unions? Dependency? Rampant regulation? Unlimited debt? NO! NO! NO! I gotta tell you, folks; I was an American. I loved America. I proudly served in America´s Marine Corps. But no more. That America is dead and gone, never to return. A communist, statist takeover has occurred in this country and the tragic truth is that the majority is just fine with it. Me? I do not care anymore. Wallow in what you have created, America. And if you can even remember, cry for what you have lost.

Very, very few women are going to serve in army and marine infantry and special operations forces for very long. This policy change by the liberals is political, and simply gives women a chance to volunteer for those ground combat units, thus allowing them to punch their ticket, and qualify for advancement to the higher ranks in combat branches where they will never actually be expected to endure the extreme hardship of close quarter sustained ground combat. After all, Obama is shutting down the wars on a date certain in 2014.

On F&F this morning, Allison Camarata said that this will open up "new jobs" for women. Since they´ve never have had to undergo the travails of combat before, I will give them some slack for such blockheaded thinking. The military, however, is complicit in this attitude with the relentless feel-good advertising for the volunteer military. Yet another example of the slippery slope.

OMG rolls eyes mommies in body bags. physical issues men just don´t have. not in my foxhole. get a grip people. nobody should be in combat. it is nasty, dirty, crippling, and physically and mentally disabling. half the population should not be protected from it when it is a matter of national security. half the population should not be denied the promotion opportunities that those jobs put before a person during peace time either. but most of all, the playing field should not be leveled, the requirements should not be adjusted so everyone could do it, which is just as stupid as building each foxhole with handicap ramps. this is not lets give everyone an A and a prize so nobody feels bad. Back in the late 70´s when there was such an uproar in the EOD field about women in the field, my brother got tired of the well, they can´t carry the 8" rounds out, and we´d have to do for them. So, being a big guy, he went and got one, and put it on his shoulder and walked into the discussion, and said, okay, here it is. any of you girls can´t pick this up and carry it, turn in your badges. only one guy in the whole room could do it. probably the reason i got to blow up stuff for almost 20 years (big grin)

This nation´s enemies who we will confront on the battlefield are going to really enjoy these "easy pickins". When all the realities of face to face combat come back to haunt those that saw fit to use this nation´s military for "social experimentation", I hope they become deathly ill over their lunacy. Of course it will not be them who pays the ultimate price for their stupidity, but our service members both male and female.

MIAMI -- Lilly Pulitzer hosted parties in her bare feet and wasn´t afraid to get a little messy - just as long as she looked good and had fun, too. In the late 1950s, the Palm Beach socialite had time to spare and a wealthy husband who owned citrus groves, so she opened an orange juice stand just off the island´s main shopping street. Pulitzer needed to hide all the juice stains on her clothes, though. Instead of just putting on an apron, she asked her seamstress to make some sleeveless dresses

An attempt by Colorado lawmakers to ban welfare recipients from withdrawing their benefits at ATMs located inside strip clubs was killed by Democrats Thursday night, even though the state House’s third-ranking Democratic legislator supported the measure. Democratic Rep. Dan Pabon lent his support to the Republican-led proposal, offered as an amendment during a debate on the state budget Thursday night, because it would hew to a similar federal rule, according to the Denver Post. Pabon introduced a bill on the issue two years ago, but it didn’t clear the state Senate. State welfare recipients receive their benefits

Add the name of Michelle Lynne (ne Robert) Kosilek to the list of modern phenomena the Founding Fathers would definitely not appreciate being blamed for. Little did they know what havoc they would someday wreak by adding the Eighth Amendment to the Constitution to prohibit “cruel and unusual punishment.” Now comes Kosilek, a convicted wife murderer doing life without parole. He/she is claiming that it would be cruel and unusual punishment to deny him/her a sex-change operation — excuse me, “gender-reassignment surgery.”Not to get too graphic, but Kosilek is begging for elective amputation of a body part.

Two very bad and extremely dangerous economic developments happened yesterday — and Wall Street appeared to miss both of them. The Dow Jones industrial average fell 40.86 points to 14565.25 after the Labor Department announced that the seasonally adjusted number of new jobs created in March was just 88,000 — far below the 190,000 or so Wall Street expected. The March figure was also less than one-third the number of jobs created during February. This led to the misperception that the job market tanked in March. It didn’t.

Duck Dynasty must make liberals heads explode. It is now the most popular “non-scripted” show currently on television. Its Season 3 premiere had 8.6 million viewers and a massive 4.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which as you might know, is quite popular with the advertisers. At the same time, each episode ends with the entire family at the dinner table where they pray before eating. Indeed, the Robertson clan is entirely evangelical. It must be something in the water at the State Department — every secretary sooner or later develops an insatiable yearning to be the guy or gal who finally unlocked the secret to Middle East peace. Now Kerry has the peace process bug. The State Department spokeswoman did her best to lower expectations. Indeed, it is downright bizarre that while North Korea is saber-rattling, the Syrian war sends reverberations through the region,

How do you survive a sex scandal? Public-relations reps and crisis-communications counselors have made careers of dispensing advice on such matters. And so the usual counsel follows a fairly trite and untested path: Be honest from the start. Apologize. Make sure your wife stands behind you. Hogwash, for the most part. Everyone apologizes, nearly everyone’s wife is supportive, and no one is honest from the start. But still some politicians survive sordid situations, and some do not. Why? Let’s allow history to be our guide. There are more than enough examples to choose from. It was only Tuesday that former South Carolina governor

President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. But I´ve long felt we lack a solid theoretical underpinning for easily discussing these issues, and why precisely it is that

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank
