Outgoing Secretary of State Hillary Clinton spent roughly seven hours on the Hill today fielding statements lauding her brilliance, praise for how many miles she has flown around the world, and the occassional question about Benghazi. Remember that? On 9-11-12, four Americans died in a terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya. The Obama campaign/administration had just spent their political convention crowing that al-Qaeda is “on the run.” The Benghazi terrorist attack suggested otherwise. Beginning shortly after the attack and continuing through September 26, President Obama and his administration blamed
Republicans have not held Obama accountable - for anything. Why should they scapegoat Hillary at this point in the charade?
The "president" appoints Van Jones, a communist (!!!) - no accountability The "president" helps cover-up Fast & Furious - no accountability The "president" grinds the economy to a halt - no accountability The "president" slanders Mitt Romney - no accountability The "president" schemes with the Russians to weaken US defense - no accountability The "president" spews pro-socialist (= anti-USA) collectivist propaganda like "you didn´t build that" - no accountability The "president" slanders the Tea Party, Sarah Palin, and Christian gun owners - no accountability The "president" colludes in the corruption of the nation´s no-longer free press - no accountability The "president" shreds his oath of office by declaring "the future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam" - no accountability
Meanwhile, Republicans desperately defend Democrat-Socialist Big Government schemes like Medicare and Social Security.
For all 7 hours, a woman sat to the right of Hillary and just a little back. She in Under Secretary Maria Otero who is responsible for security, counter-terrorism, and LGBT rights. She is responsible for the country assessments for counter=terrorism which came out in May 2012. She is also the State Dept point person for LGBT rights. Guess what was the priority in 2012. Maybe Senator Kerry could consider some different priorities.

In re #3, it is a scheme in that you have no ownership rights. If you die at age 60, and leave no spouse or minor dependants, all of that money goes away. As originally created the expected life expectancy was 66 years so the Social Security retirement age as set at 65. So, if you deferred 2.5% of your income for 45 years and your employer matched that deferment, you would have 2.25 years of income with an expected remaining life of one year. I´d call that a scheme.
And the Rinos are spouting that Obama wants to obliterate the Republican party? At this point those bunch of pansies deserve to be obliterated. You get what you vote for folks. We are sooo screwed. Witnessing this parade of butt kissing was breathtaking.
Clinton played the Senators like a fiddle. Her shouting scene, “What difference does it does it make?” was a carefully rehearsed and perfectly executed feint meant to set up the next, and critical line; “Look there a four Americans dead here.”
What she did there is usurp the charge they wanted to bring against her. She took ownership of that line, flinging it at them before they could do so at her. It was a beautifully played finesse, no doubt planned and practiced, and executed with perfect timing.
It is fascinating to see the role of scoundrel played to perfection (and, of course, the role of the scoundrel’s befuddled foils done so well at the same time.)
I watched the entire thing as well, hoping that it would get better when the House got their chance. But, never happened. By the time they said their gratitudes for her service and stated the obvious each and every time, the questions were grouped together and no time for answers. Although I did hear one person say if they had allowed her to answer she would have spent the whole 5 min spewing nonsense anyway. But with all the lawyers and brains up there, you´d think someone would have developed a way to question witnesses so they cant avoid answering! I bet Trey Gowdy would have got some answers.
The rotten corpse of accountability has been stinking up the nation´s capitol since the Dem´s feted BJC after his impeachment. Yesterday the corpse was buried and we will never again have to consider accountability. Ramona (the Pest)
Hillary was well trained for the show. That´s what she was doing during her delay in showing up. "What difference does it make" then she says we have to investigate to make sure it doesn´t happen again? If it doesn´t make any difference, why investigate?
The demoscum are trying to destroy the repub party?...How about the repubs have a death wish and are trying to destroy the repub party?....NOTHING has changed. At least the demos are united in their treachery; as the repubs form the circular firing squad. ´At some point we have to acknowledge that the repubs are just a bunch of weak kneed wankers that have to be replaced. At some point we have to acknowledge them to be in the FUBAR condition and replace them - they are useless. ´Swap them out for the NRA - at lest they fight back
Why in the heck do we pay the salaries of these pathetic public servants? They have to be the worst bunch of media whores (pardon my language) to come down the pike in a very long time. I started watching the proceedings but was fuming within five minutes. It was obvious this hearing was a dog and pony show. We learned nothing other than our elected officials are not interested in accountability. They failed in their responsibility to those families to find out what happened in Benghazi and who was to blame. It was a pathetic self-serving spectacle. Those four Americans deserved better.
It´s time to accept that the Republicans have taken an "everybody for himself" attitude. Their goal is now just to save themselves and to hell with the country. There´s not a one of them that is willing to sacrifice their job to sound the alarm. ( yet they expect a soldier to give his/ her life).
A corrupt people will demand a corrupt government.
It´s going to get a lot worse. We may also have to just think of ourselves and our family. And to hell with this government. If there ever was an example as to why to withdraw support from the Republican Party, these hearings were it. Lack of preparation, lack of nerve, and complete disregard for the job they were elected to do was in plain view.
In case you haven´t noticed- Accountability has been dead in this country for decades. ie, 55 million dead babies, 16.5 Trillion dollar debt, etc, etc. "Many anti-Christs have gone out into the world" and there all in Washington.
Agree that all of the Senators (R) completely let Hildebeast off the hook. Worse, they gave her a stage to act out all the scenes she´s been rehearsing the last few months while she was in hiding.
One Senator (R) actually held his own and that was Rand Paul. You can see the separation he is working to get from Marco Rubio. My guess is that there will be four main contenders in 2016 (if we all survive that long): Biden/Hillary, Rubio/Paul.
Paul laid the groundwork for Hillary to be taken out. While they let her slide, there were too many sound bites that can be used in campaign ads. "Q: Four Americans just died...what do you have to say Sec Clinton? A: What difference does it make?"
Paul also has shown us that he will take Hillary on toe to toe. Rubio was more of that "let´s be polite and civil" pablum a la McCain in 2008 and Romney/Ryan in 2012.
If any attendees of the hearing had been told they were going to a roast for Clinton, they would have emerged at the end of the debacle and stated they were misled and it was a big joke. What a sickening display of fawning, back slapping and petting. There seems to be a sick "you can do no wrong" code of honor within the beltway. Hey, you got some Americans killed! high fives and "don´t worry about it".
When Hildebeast said her Springer-esque statement about, "What difference does it make?", it would have been nice if someone had said, "The differnence it makes is you and your cronies tried to obscure the motives of the killers. Why did YOU want us to believe it was a local protest when it was obviously Al Qaeda operatives?!". Did anyone mention/ask her about gun-running?
Her flying off the handle and waving her hands indicate the probable behaviour before all those people were killed during the Clinton reign/co-presidency. Bill how could you have married a hag like that?! No wonder you had so many affairs. The troopers at the Arkansas Governor´s mansion/Forbes reported that once during one of her tirades she screamed to Bill she, "needed to be touched more than once a year". ha ha ha ha ha ha.
Exactly #27 - what does it matter how they died except you and your boss made every effort to say they died because of this reason as opposed to that reason.
And her statements in that pseudo southern midwest drawl of "I believe in transparency.." made my skin crawl.
I really think Hillary was auditioning for 2016; the woman alone before all these men being grilled and the feigned touch of emotion at describing puttiing her arms around the family memebers. And all the tv and radio talking heads complimenting her on her performance.
With "leadership" like this, I say let all the women out there serve in front line combat units - just look at Hillary...
Anyone still mystified by the behavior of any and all in Washington - including ´our´ side - should take the time to drive a full loop around the DC Beltway.
Behold the New Rome. Yes, there are nominally private companies inside those gleaming, gilded edifices but they and their government paymasters are all in the business of taking your cash at the point of a sword and lavishing it on their cronies and, in turn, themselves.
It´s one thing to debate gun control, terrorism, or immigration on teevee but any thoughts of rocking the boat are quickly suppressed by the prospect of a luxurious existence provided by 300 million people you´ve never met and don´t care to.
A preview of "All Is Lost In DC". Commie democrats, half dead vacant headed RINO republicans. The last performance of a sick, dying, once great circus. Communism is here, all laying out in obedience. Not one loud persistent voice in the lot. Marco Rubio, a traitorous zero, as if he´d been coached by the censoring TV actor Diane Sawyer. Marco fails the same day Mickelson apologises for speaking like a normal citizen, trying to avoid taxation tyranny. Where is the outspoken Breitbart today? Not a one in greed addicted Washington or out corrupted TV. Oddly enough, there isn´t even one spokesperson AT Breitbart, on their entire staff, that is willing to speak out and at least echo Andrew´s voice. Starting with Bilary´s disgraceful pack of lies, it looks like they are all afraid of sudden, premature death. Is that ridiculous?
Accountability will have died if we out here throw in the proverbial towel.
We do have a formidable foe, a conglomeration of ruthless left-wing politicians and brown-noser media & entertainment toadies, who frame the arguments. This is compounded by the "opposition Party" which thinks everything is as it has always been.
These are the ones who have so diligently kept the public ignorant, fat and happy. Bread and Circuses for the 21st century.
#12, you are right. But this display of anger was counterpoint to her over-the-top emotional outburst as she recounted the tarmac event.
Looked at together, with the intervening cold and perfunctory responses, she really appeared psychotic.
Is she on meds? Was the so-called "blood clot" actually a computer chip which slipped from the cerebral cortex where aliens had inserted it when she was a student at Wellesley?
I mean, almost collapsing in a heap of blubbering tears and then pounding the table and flailing her arms about, gesticulating wildly.
Obviously something amiss... too much booze? too few prozacs? cutting back too quickly on the oxys?
Rant and rave all you want. It will not change a thing. Vote all the times you want. It will not change a thing. Politicians are in it for themselves, not for us peons. Get use to it and move on. Just because they ban guns doesn´t mean you cannot have guns. Just because abortion is legal doesn´t mean you have to have an abortion. Just because there is gay marriage does not mean you have to marry a gay. On and on and on. If all you are going to do is complain and vote for whoever they tell you too, life will suck for you (politically speaking). Simply take care of yourself and your family and do not rely on the Government for anything. Don´t like high taxes? Start your own business and easily hide most income. There are ways to live happily, even in this environment, but you have to take action, not just talk and vote.
Superb comments, folks. Four more years of this...
And it will get worse!
Have you picked your "flee to" country yet? Or are you nobly going to go down with this stinking garbage scow the USA has become?
There is another option: pick a freedom or liberty you will not let them take from you. Make your stand there, to die or be jailed. "When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty.” --- Thomas Jefferson
The Republican Party is now DEAD.There is no need any longer to make noises about being a conservative thinking and acting individual. The noises will always remain but the actions are a thing of the past. The Preservation of Antiques should now make room for every individual in both houses tht call themselves Republican. Move on fellow conservatives. If you want a new vision of what it means to be a conservative gather together and start an new group under a different name.
The bootlicking by OUR side was most nauseating. Hillary Clinton, and her weird daughter, are treated like royalty by not only the Democrats. Accountability died awhile ago, not just yesterday. A CEO messes up and this same crowd of egotistical bureaucrats scream for their resignation AND work for the destruction of their lives. These clowns either break laws themselves or stand silent while the other party does - millions get hurt and nothing is done. The biggest disgrace? HOW can the survivors of Benghazi AND the widows stay silent (cover for) Clinton? What sort of person does that when your loved one died because of these people???
Like this was not expected? Come on there isn´t a Republician even near the Senate. The only thing I expected from yesterdays show is the hear 100% lies. The only way to kow what happened is to reverse the lies. Every time Hillary says "no" it means "yes", up is down etc.
During his inaugural address, Obama reiterated his intent to bully congressional Republicans into submitting to his socialist agenda. Yesterday’s hearings was a golden opportunity to demonstrate to Obama – through his surrogate, Hillary – that they will not be intimidated, and that they stand for the conservative principles (like accountability, honesty, a deep regard for human life, etc.) held by most Americans.
Instead, they groveled – on camera – before this lying, slimeball, partisan, al Qaeda-loving hag whose assistant, Huma, has strong ties to the Muslim Brotherhood and whose abject failure as Secretary of State led to the brutal murder of America’s Ambassador to Libya and 3 other Americans. Except for Rand Paul, who showed that he actually has a pair – the Republicans that participated in this pitiful charade evoked images of submissive, spineless wimps licking the stilettos of their repulsive dominatrix, Hillary Clinton, while repeating, mantra-like, “More humiliation please, mistress!” They are so afraid of what the liberal media might say about them that they are unwilling to do the job they were elected to do.
If that’s what the Republican Party has become, then they’ve lost this life-long Republican – forever. Ronald Reagan would be disgusted by lot of them.
This is nothing more than a perfectly orchestrated play, that even makes Hollywood look like amatures. Every last Rep., Sen., VP, Pres and MSM backing them are dirty rotten liars and need to be tried for treason of the highest degree.
Well what a waste of time watching the girations and self aclaim by this liar Hillary Clinton.´What´s the difference ´. Not one question asked about Obama perhaps where was he ,getting ready for a photo opt and vote getter at Las Vegas. The american people still did not get the answer why Obama,Panetta Hillary et al insisted that the attack on the Benghazi Compound was due to an antimuslim video. This scenerio was pushed on the public to bolster up a world wide announcement by Obama that El Quada was dead. In fact the US ambassador to UN parroted on several networks that indeed the spontaneous uprising was due to the video .About the interrogation what a farce , circus waste of time. Each Democrat who questioned Clinton spoke of platitudes affection what a great Secretary . Also each Republican questioning started with the niceties. Read on , Not one questioner got down to the nitties. Who issued the directive that it was fault of the movie. Who made the directive not to assist the occupant in the Conulate fighting for 5 Hours for their lives. Panetta spoke a few days later that they had no force equipped nearby that could assist. What hogwash . A fighter jet was 15 to 25 minutes away from Sicily. A troop carrier at the most an hour. No question asked the injured and others who were in the consulate . WHY THE GAG ! Boehner if he is to remain Speaker should have got all the Republican questioners and thrashed out the questions cut out the niceties. 4 heroes are dead as a consequence of incompetance starting with the occupant in the WH.
The ´60s/´70s lefty/lib radicalized dem pols & their puppet press have connived to blurr recognition of right from wrong. The dems´ world is apparently entirely GRAY now, ...bless their pitiful hearts. mmm mmm mmm
´´Don´t be afraid to see what you see.´´ Ronald Reagan
We do see and are appalled by the lack of integrity inside the beltway. The theatrical Oz curtain was pulled back yesterday & today in these show-biz shams called, ´Congressional Hearings,´ revealing apparently scripted corruption.
Hillary´s response in the middle of all her hysterics was "read the ARB report". Not just the public version, but the classified report.
One has to wonder exactly what is in the classified version, possibly everything that has been speculated on here about the true mission of the Bengahzi outpost and it´s CIA detachment.
The fact that these topics weren´t discussed in the public version of the ARB report, nor brought up by anyone at the hearing, strongly suggests there´s lots of deep background that will never see the light of day.
H Clinton´s testimony clearly shows arrested moral development. She will likely get away with a huge failure...all in plain view. This is not "just politics." This is an instance of social degradation.
It´s hard to guess when accountability died......it is just that we are now able to uncover the lies and deceits with phone cameras and instant communication. I remember being puzzled and disappointed when the GOP had the opportunity to smack down some crook and didn´t. Now I realize they have a mutual agreement to cover for each other....they are all corrupt and no one wants to risk losing his place at the cash cow(us) teat. And now I understand why BOTH parties went on the attack of Palin or anyone who sided with tea party values. Can´t have any of that! There really has to be a complete turning out of the criminal government we have. I´m too old to fight, but I can help fund a real patriot.
What difference does it make? The lack of accountability goes back at least as far as the murder of Vince Foster, doesn´t it Hilary? Huh? Oh, as far as schemes, I have a neighbor who paid into Medicare for one year before retiring and has been getting it for the last forty years for free. Social Security came up with SSDI, a totally unfunded gimmick which has done its part to destroy the system. And there are hundreds of thousands of old people who have gotten much more out of the system than they ever put into it. FDR was a jerk.
No 54 - how do we know if someone is a patriot when you vote for them as it seems that they talk like a conservative, country loving person until they get into congress or the senate and then, whamo, they go Washington on us. I don´t think there is anything we can do. I think the Republicans who failed to vote in the last election (about 3 million, I hear) have given our country away and there is nothing we can do. I think it is gone, forever......
Ditto every point made by Bryan Preston in this piece. Especially, Disappointingly, Sen. Marco Rubio asked no tough questions and he wasted the few minutes that he had to question the secretary. If he intends to be a leader, he missed a major opportunity today. He failed to lead. This is not a good sign from the popular Tea-flavored Floridian. It’s worth asking why he chose to further the Benghazi cover-up today.
I agree, #12. She also deftly employed that tactic perfected by her husband Bill, and "courageously accepted responsibility, as Secretary of State", while rejecting any and all personal blame for those deaths, and anything to do with Benghazi.
Those who did manage to remind people that this was a hearing to find answers about the horrific actions that happened on her watch, rather than a laudatory public farewell gathering and send off to her next personal political adventure, were cast as mean-spirited attackers.
Barbara Boxer is "infuriated" at Rand Paul for "attacking" Hillary.
All the time this "questioning" was going on I was thinking how I would love to have her sitting before a select panel of Ldotters. It might have been fun to see her try to wriggle out of those questions.
WASHINGTON — Farrah Fawcett, iconic beauty. Ryan O’Neal, leading man. Andy Warhol, enfant terrible. What else could be missing from this 1970s soap opera? It turns out that a very valuable Warhol portrait of Fawcett is missing — and very much at the center of the current tabloid-frenzied drama involving all three, even though both Fawcett and Warhol are dead. Who owns the 1980 portrait of Fawcett by Warhol, done in his signature silkscreen pop art style, showing her with bright green eyes, eye makeup and red, red lips? O’Neal, her partner for many years, has it and says it’s
Oct. 5, 1972. Fighter pilot Jim Latham had just marked a target of abandoned supply trucks in a heavily populated area of North Vietnam when the right wing of his aircraft tore off. His F-4 Phantom fighter was hit just as he began a soaring climb from a low altitude. “Eject! Eject!” he yelled to his back seater, Rick Bates, as a sharp wind blasted him out of his seat. The ground was so close that as he floated in his parachute, he could see muzzle flashes and the enemy’s spray of bullets. Latham, who works for Lockheed Martin Aeronautics
n a Cleveland courtroom Tuesday a guy named Bobby Thompson will take the stand. So, too, will John Donald Cody. The charge: stealing $100 million that people thought they were donating to American veterans. Thompson and Cody are both testifying because they are one and the same guy — a Harvard-trained lawyer and former military intelligence officer — who allegedly set up a charity called the US Navy Veterans Association to fleece grateful citizens. Cody is his real name. Thompson is the one being used in the trial. After the jury (hopefully) convicts Cody/Thompson he’ll simply be known as scum. One hundred million dollars! Think
Flannery O’Connor once famously said of To Kill a Mockingbird that “it’s interesting that all the folks that are buying it don’t know they are reading a child’s book.” Which is true enough. But it seems that its 87-year-old author, Harper Lee—recipient of the Pulitzer Prize, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, civic awards and citations and honorary degrees too numerous to mention—has an adult-sized appetite for revenue as well as honors. Miss Lee, who is in the midst of a protracted legal struggle with relatives of her onetime agent, is struggling to regain the copyright of her one and only
The fifth and sixth years of a presidency often end up being high noon for judicial politics. This time the first confrontation concerns the powerful D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, the venue for many important regulatory issues and a training ground for future Supreme Court justices. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says he intends to force a vote this week on the nomination of Cornelia Pillard to the court. Pillard’s is one of three nominations Republicans are opposing. They say the Democrats are trying to pack the court. The Democrats say they’re just trying to fill vacancies, and argue that the
Third parties have had an unbroken record of failure in American presidential politics. So it was refreshing to see in the Tea Party an insurgent movement, mainly of people who were not professional politicians, but who nevertheless had the good sense to see that their only chance of getting their ideals enacted into public policies was within one of the two major parties. More important, the Tea Party was an insurgent movement that was not trying to impose some untried utopia, but to restore the lost heritage of America that had been eroded, undermined, or just plain sold out by professional
President Obama is under water. His approval in the polls is low and sinking, his signature initiative is staggering from a combination of incompetence and sabotage, his foreign policy is a jumble. Congress is a Bermuda Triangle where the most elementary White House business disappears. The public is numbed and disgusted. Allies are theatrically furious about eavesdropping. Put it this way: When the water-cooler buzz in Washington is focused on Obama’s near-death experience in last year’s campaign debates, it’s pretty clear he is not setting the agenda. I have a few suggestions for how Obama might lift his presidency up from
Booking fictitious sales, or sales that are contingent, falls within a common definition of accounting fraud. In yet another example of how poorly things are going, the Obama administration will count as enrollees people who have completed the application process, but not yet paid, via WaPo: The fight over how to define the new health law’s success is coming down to one question: Who counts as an Obamacare enrollee? Health insurance plans only count subscribers as enrolled in a health plan once they’ve submited [sic] a payment. That is when the carrier sends out a member card and begins paying doctor bills. When the
At this writing, I have been coughing for 72 days. Not on and off coughing, but continuously, every day and every night, for two and a half months. And not just coughing, but whooping: doubled over, body clenched, sucking violently for air, my face reddening and my eyes watering. Sometimes, I cough so hard, I vomit. Other times, I pee myself. Both of these symptoms have become blessedly less frequent, and I have yet to break a rib coughing—also a common side effect. Nor do I still have the fatigue that felled me, often, at my desk and made me
Roughly 40,000 Americans have signed up for private insurance through the flawed federal online insurance marketplace since it opened six weeks ago, according to two people with access to the figures. That amount is a tiny fraction of the total projected enrollment for the 36 states where the federal government is running the online health-care exchange, indicating the slow start to the president’s initiative. The first concrete evidence of the popularity — and accessibility — of the new federal insurance exchange emerged as the White House has been preparing to release this week the first official tally of how many people
WASHINGTON — Texas lawmakers return from Veterans Day memorials on a mission for those hurt in the 2009 massacre at Fort Hood: making sure that those who serve our country get due recognition and benefits as victims of a domestic terror attack. Infamously classified as “workplace violence” by the Obama administration, former Army psychiatrist Nidal Hasan killed 13 and wounded 32 in what he described as an act of jihad against soldiers going through processing before shipping out to Afghanistan. But the continued refusal of the administration to acknowledge the attack as an act of terrorism has left the Fort Hood survivors
NEW YORK -- In the many years he spent as a trader at Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC, David Kugel learned that investments that Madoff claimed to be making for clients were fiction. Kugel, 68, knew that because he was instrumental in concocting the phony trades. But he always kept his mouth shut. Madoff "was my boss," he testified at the trial of five former Madoff employees in federal court in Manhattan. "If he asked me to do something, I gave it to him. I didn´t question him. ... I believed him." Prosecutors are seeking to use Kugel´s testimony - the first
It’s sad that Maverick’s taking this idea just seriously enough that he’d think to mention it to another human being. He’s 77 years old, ran a famously chaotic campaign in 2008 before getting crushed on election day, and would face a much stronger, younger field in the primaries than he did last time. That he forced me just now to devote even half a second of thought to how he might stack up against the 2016 contenders is frankly embarrassing, and something for which I’ll never forgive him. It’s like watching a 60-year-old pitcher announce that he’s thinking of coming
James O’Keefe, the guerrilla videographer who helped bring down ACORN (the “community organizing” group that Barack Obama worked for as a lawyer and trainer) and got NPR’s president fired, is back. This time, his undercover investigators focused on Obamacare’s “navigators,” the nearly 50,000 people who, in the words of the Department of Health and Human Services, “will serve as an in-person resource for Americans who want additional assistance in shopping for and enrolling in plans” on the Obamacare exchanges (at least when they’re finally working). The total value of grants doled out for nonprofits and community organizations to hire navigators
WASHINGTON — When President Obama travels abroad, his staff packs briefing books, gifts for foreign leaders and something more closely associated with camping than diplomacy: a tent. Even when Mr. Obama travels to allied nations, aides quickly set up the security tent — which has opaque sides and noise-making devices inside — in a room near his hotel suite. When the president needs to read a classified document or have a sensitive conversation, he ducks into the tent to shield himself from secret video cameras and listening devices. American security officials demand that their bosses — not just the president, but
Sen. Kay Hagan (D-N.C.) will ask two oversight agencies for a full-blown investigation into the problems surrounding the ObamaCare launch. Hagan, who is up for reelection in 2014, is asking her Senate colleagues to co-sign a letter asking two agencies to conduct “a complete, thorough investigation to determine the causes of the design and implementation failures of HealthCare.Gov.” “These problems are simply unacceptable, and Americans deserve answers and swift solutions,” Hagan writes in a letter obtained by The Hill. “Taxpayers are owed a full and transparent accounting of how the vendors contracted to build the site failed to launch it
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz) said he has no plans to run again for the White House. Speaking to the Arizona Republic, McCain said he had received "a spate of e-mails and letters and phone calls" urging him to run since the government shutdown. But he said he´s focused on whether to run for a sixth term in the Senate, not for president. “As you know, I’m seriously thinking about running for re-election to the Senate," he said. "But I think, in the words of the late Morris K. Udall, as far as my presidential ambitions are concerned, ‘The people have spoken —
Fourteen years ago, I was asked to be a keynote speaker at the Richmond County Women´s Republican Club annual dinner. I had started my column at the Staten Island Advance the year before, and as an Hispanic who had grown up in Spanish Harlem, many Republicans were surprised that I was a conservative. It was my first speaking engagement and one I accepted reluctantly, but I felt that it was an opportunity to offer some advice to the Republican Party about winning over the voters in the barrios and the inner city.
Veterans, we think about you all the time. Sometimes we fail to tell you. Today, on Veteran’s Day, we put our admiration for you into words. World War II, Korean and Vietnam Veterans. We will start with you. You fought for our freedom. You watched your closest friends fall by your side and you were heartbroken, knowing it could have been you. You shoulder the burden of painful and haunting memories. Many of you have physical wounds; you sacrificed your warrior’s body for us, people you never met. You use a cane or a wheelchair now because of your choice
Bernard Goldberg joined Bill O’Reilly Monday night to address what he believes is a “potentially fatal split” in the Republican party’s immediate future. He said that if the tea party keeps rejecting anyone who isn’t basically Ted Cruz for the 2016 presidential nomination, the party’s going to be in some big trouble and invite in a strong Democratic victory. O’Reilly framed the fight as a “classic moderate Republican versus hard-right Republican” feud, and Goldberg rejected the “ideological rigidity” of people who will sit on their hands and refuse to vote for a Republican presidential nominee if they aren’t sufficiently conservative
Swampscott, Massachusetts Selectman Barry Greenfield is pushing a measure to give police the authority to conduct home searches to check proper storage of firearms. Greenfield said "state law requires Massachusetts gun owners to keep their firearms locked away or rendered inoperable." There are "600 registered gun owners in [Swampscott]," and the selectman wants police to be able to drop in unannounced, enter the homes of each gun owner, and verify compliance. According to the Swampscott Patch, Greenfield has spoken with Swampscott Police Chief Ron Madigan about this issue, and has spoken with other selectmen. At least one of the selectmen-
ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Before Ted Cruz burst on the national political scene, there was Sarah Palin. After Ted Cruz, is there still much of a place for her? Sarah Palin, 49, is the original hero of the Tea Party, rallier of the right wing and basher of Barack Obama. But it has been five years since she gained a place in the history books as John McCain´s surprise choice of running mate on the Republican presidential ticket. Four years since she unexpectedly resigned as Alaska governor before her term was up. Two years since she bypassed the chance to jump into the
Perhaps the most entertaining facet of watching the scales fall from liberal´s eyes about Obamacare is the absolute shock they experience when their liberal friends chastise them for complaining. Lori Gottlieb, a contributing editor for The Atlantic and a psychotherapist, writes in the NY Times about her conversation with Blue Anthem insurance and the reaction by her "friends" on Facebook when she posted about it: THE Anthem Blue Cross representative who answered my call told me that there was a silver lining in the cancellation of my individual P.P.O. policy and the $5,400 annual increase that I would have to
To the list of problems plaguing President Obama’s health care law, add one more — fraud. With millions of Americans frustrated and bewildered by the trouble-prone federal website for health insurance, con men and unscrupulous marketers are seizing their chance. State and federal authorities report a rising number of consumer complaints, ranging from deceptive sales practices to identity theft, linked to the Affordable Care Act.
