Inhofe: ‘Unacceptable’ That DoD
Leaked ‘Women in Combat’ Plans
Before Briefing Congress

Senator James Inhofe (R-Okla.), the ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said it was “unacceptable” for the Defense Department to leak news about lifting the ban on women serving in direct combat positions prior to briefing Congress. News reports on Wednesday citing “senior defense officials” said that Defense Secretary Leon Panetta was lifting the ban, put in place in 1994. Specific details were not provided but it was reported that Panetta would make an official announcement on Thursday. In a May 9, 2012 photo, Capt. ~~“I do not believe this will be a broad opening of combat roles for women, because as the 2012 report indicated, there are ‘serious practical barriers which must be resolved so that the department can maximize the safety and privacy of all military members while maintaining military readiness,’” said Inhofe.~~

Thank you, Senator Inhofe...Imagine, just imagine, if President Bush did anything like this? The press would be in an uproar....Un-Believable!

Congress still has not revised the UCMJ to eliminate the prohibition of sodomy - but who cares! We are ruled by Obama and Leon Panetta, The Hammer of the Mohammedans!

Also be sure to enjoy all the comments about how girl soldiers are needed because of the demands of war - when we have millions of men doing nothing....

The Propaganda Machine/MSM needed a story, to avoid covering any mention of Benghazi.

Although women in combat is a small %, it fits nicely into agenda 21... to destroy the family unit.

I´m waiting to see if they´ll advertise the Free Sterilization part of ObieCare or just implement it covertly, like in Africa & India... in our milk... Or maybe Sensa.

Ok, I hate to suggest this, but let´s take this to the logical extreme. Let´s revise the UCMJ and eliminate those silly old ideas concerning sodomy and adultery. Revise the Selective Service Registration to require the registry of all. Oh phooey, lets just institute a mandatory four years military service for everyone. Then maybe some of the Lofo,s will wake up and realize that this stuff has consequences.

Ugh.

What´s the weight of their field packs? 110 pounds? What are the requirements for physical preparation for front-line warriors?
How much will our forces be degraded (i.e., someone else will either have to carry more in their field packs, a man, or carry the "woman soldier´s" pack, and the physical preparation will be minor compared to what the men have to go through and the result will be crippling to our military´s ability to fight wars)? This country has truly gone insane. But as hillary clinton screams when our people are slaughtered...who cares, what does it matter?

Having been in combat all I will say is as long as they don´t lower the standards for PT, etc and the requirements for the elite forces OK. That being said when the first woman is KIA from this the press will have a field day. That is a slap in the face to all the men who have died for their country.

The Hill´s article on this topic mentions that this could have "outside implications" on issues such as the current law requiring adult males to register for Selective Service. What they don´t say, and maybe Panetta hasn´t addressed it, is whether or not women will be required to register too.

The only mitigant I can see has to do with the current nature of warfare. The distance between the front and the rear areas is now so compressed that everybody in the theater of operation is effectively in a combat zone. To that end it is appropriate to recognize that all are at risk.

But I still see bad karma coming down over this decision.

I understand that it does not include infantry, but there are plenty of other positions that are in harms way. 139 women have died in the two wars. This does open up more opportunities for women and it is on a volunteer basis.

P.S. A pack does not weigh 110 pounds. (Don´t volunteer to carry the motor plate!)

The vast majority of the women who think that women serving in ground combat units is cool are not about to join the military in any capacity, not alone become an infantry person and subject themselves to the extreme hardships that have always been associated with sustained ground combat.

Men in combat become very base creatures. They swear, fight and kill. Today, women in the front lines are ALWAYS escorted to protect them from the men on their own side.

I am just waiting for the first women combat soldier to sue for: HOSTILE WORKING ENVIRONMENT.

Another female Navy vet here: most women in the services don´t want to be in combat (except perhaps those in the Marines), just a few of more crazy ones. It´s always the loud minority who get heard. Another example would be putting women on subs: most of us think it´s a bad idea, but there are those few. And for those who say it could be an all-female command, are you kidding me?! That´s a horrible idea.

Sorry, hit submit too soon. These women who are pushing this need to watch some documentaries on some of what the men had to deal with in France circa WWII. It was beyond ugly.

Feminists getting orgasmic about the so-called equal opportunity aspects of front line duty had better get a grip. In our PC culture today I foresee a lot of friendly fire incidents when the women get too cranky and the men don´t want to put up with the nagging anymore.

Having women on the front line is made to order for the 24-7, if-it-bleeds-it-leads, femininized, overwrought news media. When Whitney Houston OD´d, all you could find on TV for three days was gnashing and wailing! Talk about slouching to Gomorra. Now picture the death of a female infantry soldier and the multiple days of showing her precious children mourning their Mom.

I thought Obama said (re Sandy Hook) "If we can save even ONE live...."

There are many roles in the military suitable for women, even if not at the tip of the spear. Unfortunately for women, unless a commander has experience at the tip of the spear, those who are presently there may not have confidence in him/her. That won’t change, and it limits women’s ability to be promoted to the highest levels of leadership.

And when do women start registering for the draft? Unbelievable that so many women will be sacrificed in combat just to satisfy the ambitions of a comparatively small number of women in the officer corps who hanker to be
"real" generals. When does the Betty Friedan Brigade get suited up and ready to march to the front lines?

This is not some affirmative action/equal rights policy. Unless you´ve been on the front lines facing death every day, you can´t make the smart decision on this issue. Panetta made the politically correct decision (as the obama regime defines it) but not the right one.

For tens of thousands of years of history, the men fought wars while women took care of home. Only in dire circumstances, when the army was destroyed and enemy was invading the home did women fight, therefore they should be trained to fight but not on the offensive.

FACT: Physical standards will have to be lowered. FACT: Women need to squat to pee. How will they manage that when in a hole with men? In a fantasy world they will just take a leak whenever and whereever they need with no fear for their safety since all their fellow soldiers will "respect" their need for privacy - in a pigs eye.
FACT: Women will be a detriment when heavy lifting is required.
FACT: Women get pregnant and will be removed from the unit leaving a hole. FACT: Women who want out of combat will get pregnant. FACT: Can a woman carrying a rifle and backpack drag a 200 pound soldier across an open space or through rocks? Of course not, so accomodations will be required to have a woman in a small unit in close combat.
FACT: Bayonets are not a thing of the past.
Finally, the generals will tell the colonels to make it work. The colonels will order the majors and captains to make it work. The majors and captains will tell the Lts and NCOs do whatever it takes to make it look like it´s working and all the reports up the chain will be fudged (lied)to make it appear everything is a success. the politicians will say - see, we knew it would work, knowing they were being lied to by the generals who were lied to by the colonels who were lied to by the majors and captains who were lied to by the Lts and NCOs and they will lie up the chain because they would rather fail at some future date whan fired for not making it work.

THIS DECISION BY SECY. PANCETTA, AND THE REGIME, IS JUST WRONG ON SO MANY LEVELS, IT BOGGLES THE MIND.
WOMEN IN THE MILITARY SERVICE ARE NEEDED IN SO MANY JOBS. BUT NOT (AS A PREVIOUS POSTER SAID)
THEY DO NOT BELONG ´ON THE TIP OF THE SPEAR´.

COMBAT IS HARD AND BAD ENOUGH ON MEN,PUTTING WOMEN OUT THERE WITH THEM CREATES ANOTHER SET OF PROBLEMS, AND PUTS ALL THE COMBATANTS AT RISK.
But then this rule is being pushed by a bunch of people (men and women who will never have to face the results of their selfish push to create what is deemed as currently a Politically Correct Policy.
[I know I put most of it in caps, but this needs to be screamed at those dufus civilians in Washington whose agenda makes no sense to those who will live and die because of it.)

One of soldier Lee Rigby´s murderers has launched an appeal against his whole life prison sentence, the Judicial Office has confirmed. Michael Adebolajo, 29, together with Michael Adebowale, 22, mowed down Fusilier Rigby in car, before hacking him to death in Woolwich, south east London, in May last year. A founding father of the conservative movement who is now a star among Tea Party activists is urging the GOP to choose a governor to duel Washington “insider” Hillary Clinton for the White House, saying that 2016 isn´t the best time for Sen. Ted Cruz to run. Often called the “funding father” of conservatism for pioneering direct mail fundraising, Richard A. Viguerie believes that the Texas senator is a “game changer” for the movement but that the best way to beat Clinton is with a candidate from outside the beltway. “I don´t think it would be best for the conservative movement for

There is yet another ObamaCare surprise waiting for consumers: from now until the next open enrollment at the end of this year, most people will simply not be able to buy any health insurance at all, even outside the exchanges. "It´s all closed down. You cannot buy a policy that is a qualified policy for the purpose of the ACA (the Affordable Care Act) until next year on January 1," says John DiVito, president of Flexbenefit which has 2,500 brokers. John Goodman of the National Center for Policy Analysis in Dallas adds, "People are not going to be able to

WASHINGTON — The White House says it has told Iran it will have to find an different envoy for the United Nations and not one who participated in the 1979 taking of 52 U.S. diplomats in Tehran. "The U.S. government has informed the government of Iran that this potential selection is not viable," White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters Tuesday. Carney´s statement came a day after the Senate passed a bill to deny a visa to anyone representative of the U.N. "who has been found to have been engaged in espionage activities or a terrorist activity against the United

“What a difference a day makes — 24 little hours.” Those lyrics about romance and spring flowers also fit the bill last week for congressional politics and the 2014 midterm elections. Last Tuesday, the White House hit the 7 million-plus mark for enrolling people in the insurance exchanges set up through the Affordable Care Act (ACA). It was an incredible achievement after the administration wasted two months, a third of the enrollment period, stumbling over a broken website. Public opinion polls last week showed an immediate jump in support for the ACA. President Obama’s approval ratings, which had been at their

House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy has pulled his column from Breitbart News after the site launched a California version with a lewd photoshop image of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. A McCarthy spokesperson told ABC News the images were "inappropriate," while another told the Los Angeles Times that the office "didn´t condone them." “We thought it was the right thing to do to ask for the column to be removed," said Spokesperson Matt Sparks, according to the Los Angeles Times. The brash right-wing conservative news outlet launched its California coverage Monday with an ad campaign featuring a series of image

Ever the happy warrior of the left, Sen. Chuck Schumer is not giving up on his pipe dream: amnesty for illegal aliens in 2014. Appearing on MSNBC on Monday, Schumer said he thinks it still can happen this year thanks to a group of liberal Republicans—what he thinks is the majority of Republicans—who will stand by silently, letting amnesty pass while voting against it in the end. He called it the “vote-no, pray-yes caucus,” meaning that certain Republicans would publicly claim they are against amnesty, vote against it in the end, but behind the scenes either fight for its passage

Kathryn Riffenburg decided on a closed casket for her baby´s funeral. She didn´t want her family to see what whooping cough, her son´s first illness, had done to 9-week-old Brady Alcaide. The nearly forgotten disease, which has in recent years afflicted thousands of Americans, left Brady´s tiny body swollen and unrecognizable. So his mother dressed him in a white baptismal suit and hat and tucked him into a tiny white casket. Brady´s burial came just four weeks after his first laugh — inspired by her version of I´m a Little Teapot — and two weeks after his family learned that he had

Attorney General Eric Holder exploded at Texas Republican Rep. Louie Gohmert during a House hearing Tuesday. In the midst of questions about the Justice Department’s failure to divulge documents about the Holy Land Foundation terror funding trial, Gohmert made a side comment about how the House of Representatives found Holder in contempt in 2012 for refusing to turn over documents related to the Fast and Furious gun-running scandal. “I realize that contempt is not a big deal to our attorney general, but it is important that we have proper oversight,” Gohmert said. “You don’t want to go there, buddy! Rev. Al Shaprton, the controversial civil rights leader-turned-broadcaster, was a confidential FBi informant for years and helped the feds put members of the Genovese and Gambino organized crime families behind bars, it was revealed Monday in a sensational exposé. President Barack Obama will speak this week for the second time at the annual meeting of Sharpton´s National Action Network, raising questions about the group´s special treatment. Sharpton´s special relationship with the Justice Department may also explain why his NAN has been allowed to skirt responsibility for $1.9 million in back taxes and penalties it has owed the IRS since 2006

When friends and family members gathered recently at the White House for a private celebration of Michelle Obama’s 50th birthday, one of the invited partygoers was a former paid FBI Mafia informant. That same man attended February’s state dinner in honor of French President Francois Hollande. He was seated with his girlfriend at a table adjacent to President Barack Obama, who is likely unaware that, according to federal agents, his guest once interacted with members of four of New York City’s five organized crime families. He even secretly taped some of those wiseguys using a briefcase that FBI technicians outfitted

Democrats are facing a senior problem that could get even worse this year. The party has traditionally had trouble with older voters, losing the group aged 65 and over by 21 points in 2010 — when Republicans picked up 63 seats — and by 12 points in the 2012 presidential race. Seniors are the GOP’s most reliable voting bloc in midterm years, turning out in higher numbers than Democratic base voters. A recent Gallup poll showed seniors have become even more Republican over the last two decades; in 2013, 48 percent considered themselves Republican. That spells trouble for Democrats, who are already facing

LONDON - Peaches Geldof, the wild-child second daughter of concert organizer Bob Geldof who worked as a model, a television presenter and a fashion writer and filled the pages of British tabloids with her late-night antics, has died at age 25. There was no immediate word on the cause of her death at her home in Wrotham, Kent, southeast England. Her father said in a statement Monday: "Peaches has died. We are beyond pain." "She was the wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us," he said. "Writing 'was' destroys me afresh. What a beautiful child. How is this possible that we will not see her again? How is that bearable? We loved her and will cherish her forever."

A few weeks ago, the liberal comedian Bill Maher and conservative strategist and pundit Bill Kristol had a brief spat on Maher’s HBO show, putatively over what instigated the tea party but ultimately over the psychic wound that has divided red America and blue America in the Obama years. The rise of the tea party, explained Maher in a let’s-get-real moment, closing his eyes for a second the way one does when saying something everybody knows but nobody wants to say, “was about a black president.” Both Maher and Kristol carry themselves with a weary cynicism that allows them to

A married freshman Republican congressman who campaigned on his Christian, conservative values apologized Monday after surveillance video surfaced purportedly showing him in a lengthy liplock with a staffer. In the Dec. 23 footage, obtained by a local newspaper, Rep. Vance McAllister, R-La. - who ahead of his election last fall ran multiple campaign ads trumpeting his faith and family - is seen kissing and embracing a woman for about 20 seconds at his Monroe, La., district office. The Ouachita Citizen reports the woman is the congressman´s 33-year-old part-time scheduler, who is also married.

Call it the million-worker mystery. A large chunk of American adults are no longer in the labor force. That has left economists divided over how many of them are voluntarily not working-or even looking for work-because they wanted to retire, go to school or take care of family members, versus how many have been forced out because they couldn´t find a job. (snip) Shierholz estimates that there are currently more than 5 million missing workers who are not included in the unemployment rate because they are neither working nor looking for work, but who might be if the job market

The Democratic National Committee is furious by a conservative website’s ad campaign that depicts Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi clad in a bikini in a provocative pose with her tongue sticking out. The chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee says investigators have uncovered evidence that a former Internal Revenue Service official may have committed crimes as part of the agency´s tea party controversy. Rep. Dave Camp set a committee vote for Wednesday on whether to refer Lois Lerner, who used to head the agency´s tax-exempt division, to the Justice Department "for possible criminal prosecution." Camp, R-Mich., did not specify which laws Lerner may have broken. Lerner´s lawyer, William W. Taylor III, has said she broke no laws. Add Bryan Cranston, the star of TV´s recent hit "Breaking Bad" and a new Broadway play about former President Lyndon B. Johnson, to Team Obamacare. In an interview with Yahoo News “global anchor” Katie Couric, the actor called Obamacare the highlight of President Obama´s legacy. “Now’s the time to stake a claim to leave your legacy,” he encouraged Obama. “I personally believe that his health care program is fantastic.
