The Reality That Awaits
Women in Combat

Wall Street Journal, by Ryan Smith

Original Article

Posted By:Desert Fox, 1/23/2013 9:21:20 PM

America has been creeping closer and closer to allowing women in combat, so Wednesday´s news that the decision has now been made is not a surprise. It appears that female soldiers will be allowed on the battlefield but not in the infantry. Yet it is a distinction without much difference: Infantry units serve side-by-side in combat with artillery, engineers, drivers, medics and others who will likely now include women. The Pentagon would do well to consider realities of life in combat as it pushes to mix men and women on the battlefield.

Now is the Time for all good men to come to the aid of the Male Party....you had better stand up before it is too late....you know you will not be able to look sideways at the woman or you will be sued for harassment...they have gone too far as it is...and yes I am a woman but I don´t agree that woman can do anything she wants....

Saw this in the Navy in the mid 1980s. One ship, a submarine tender, was scheduled for a (rare) deployment of just 3 months.
About 50% of the females in the crew came up with various reasons (most of them pregnancy) in the weeks leading up to the departure date. With the sudden lack of enough sailors, the group commander started plucking shore-duty sailors - men only - to fill those vacated billets.

When will these idiots stop treating the military as some social petri dish?

I was an infantry officer in the Army and served in Vietnam on a brigade staff. Service in the field in combat will devastate these women and destroy unit cohesion.//I also served on a hospital ship as a naval judge advocate in the Gulf War. A high percentage of the crew was female and they were great shipmates and very good at what they did in a relatively comfortable environment with good food and daily showers. In my judgment from my ship a very few long serving regular female officers and a few others who were almost all dykes and toughs could have hacked it in the field until worn down through lack of body strength. These few could not have lasted nearly as long as the men.//Horrible, if politically correct, decision by Panetta and another reason for straight males to avoid military service.

I doubt the men are carrying extra maxy pads

These arguments are extremely short-sighted. In our culture, women have served as the guardians of civil behavior. We´ve told our children "Never hit a lady" and "Watch your language, there are ladies present". Traditionally, women have been the standard-bearers of manners, dedication, love and peace. Ideally, men are honored to care for them and protect them. Such behaviors civilize us and allow us to fulfill satisfying social roles.

But, the woman warrior chips away at our civil veneer. It destroys both man-and-womanhood.

In the end, they will scratch their heads in wonder and ask why there are no real men left, only boys and animals.

This article tells it like it is in army and marine combat infantry units. The liberal Democrats can only get away with such ludicrous policy changes because only about 1% of the country has served in the military these days, and the other 99% does not have a clue as to what really happens in sustained ground combat operations.

And some fool in the comments stated that "the Israelis are already there."

No they aren´t. They tried it in one conflict and found it unworkable. And that was in ´74. They do draft women.

I´ll believe they´re serious when all women have to register for the Selective Service.

Reply 10 - Posted by: bighambone, 1/24/2013 1:43:44 AM     (No. 9135712)

There are only a very small percentage of the women in the army and marines who have any desire to serve in infantry ground combat units. If they were to start generally assigning women to those units they would find that they have created the perfect recipe for a lot of quick pregnancies in order to get the heck out of those units ASAP.

WASHINGTON — Moved by the Assad regime’s rapid advance, the Obama administration could decide this week to approve lethal aid for the beleaguered Syrian rebels and will weigh the merits of a less likely move to send in U.S. airpower to enforce a no-fly zone over the civil war-wracked nation, officials said Sunday. White House meetings are planned over the coming days, as Syrian President Bashar Assad’s government forces are apparently poised for an attack on the key city of Homs, which could cut off Syria’s armed opposition from the south of the country.

Another hot summer week in Washington, another scandal for President Obama. And this one was a shocker: Turns out the president has been doing — Wait, what? Exactly what presidents have been doing since 1978? Stop the presses! A breathless report from a British paper last week declared that the Obama administration “is currently collecting the telephone records of millions of U.S. customers of Verizon.” The telecom giant, following a secret order from the National Security Agency, is handing over info for a three-month period, starting in April, ending in July. Except, not. No one’s listening to phone calls, just

Edward Snowden, the self-revealed whistle-blower at the National Security Agency, explains that part of the reason he decided to come forward was because President Obama did not roll back the surveillance measures put into place by the Bush Administration. “A lot of people in 2008 voted for Obama. I did not vote for him. I voted for a third party,” Snowden said in an interview with the Guardian. “But I believed in Obama’s promises. I was going to disclose it [but waited because of his election]. He continued with the policies of his predecessor.”

Once again, the tanks-have-rolled left and the black-helicopters right have joined together in howls of protest. They were set off by last week´s revelations that the U.S. government has been collecting data that disclose the fact, but not the content, of electronic communications within the country, as well as some content data outside the U.S. that does not focus on American citizens. Once again, the outrage of the left-right coalition is misdirected. Libertarian Republicans and liberal—progressive, if you prefer—Democrats see the specter of George Orwell´s "1984" in what they claim is pervasive and unlawful government spying.

The chief critic of a bipartisan immigration reform proposal took to the floor Friday to decry the role of foreign governments and other groups in crafting the Senate bill. Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), a top member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, cited reporting from The Hill in arguing that the Mexican embassy and other foreign entities have had access to lawmakers, while the law enforcement community has been shut out. Sessions voted against the bill that was reported out of committee last month. “We got this bill off to the wrong track in the beginning,” Sessions said on the Senate floor.

Liberals are like Bizarro-World conservatives; that is, liberals do everything backwards. While conservatives believe that the guilty should be punished and those who are irresponsible should suffer the consequences of their bad choices, liberals believe that the guilty and irresponsible should be rewarded at the expense of the innocent and responsible people in America. Susan Rice either lied about Benghazi or was irresponsible for not knowing the truth. Obama is rewarding her with a promotion. Samantha Power said that America is evil and should apologize for its actions, and she is being rewarded by being named U.S.

The New York Times is the fountainhead of the Leftist propaganda machine in the United States. It is therefore significant that its Editorial Board, stocked with Boomer radicals, has just made a fundamental admission against interest. In reaction to Obama´s massive and systematic abuse of executive power, the NYT editorialized that Mr. Obama is proving the truism that the executive branch will use any power it is given and very likely abuse it. That is one reason we have long argued that the Patriot Act, enacted in the heat of fear after the

One of the more effective arguments used by those arguing for same-sex marriage and sexual orientation anti-discrimination laws is that homosexuals have no choice in the matter -- that sexual orientation is something that you are born with, and you can´t change it. The claim is that this is a natural part of human variability, no different from skin color or hair color or how tall you are.
