Women in all branches of the military soon will have unprecedented opportunities to serve on the front lines of the nation´s wars. Leon Panetta, in one of his last acts as President Obama´s defense secretary, is preparing to announce the policy change, which would open hundreds of thousands of front-line positions and potentially elite commando jobs after more than a decade at war, the Pentagon confirmed Wednesday. The groundbreaking move recommended by the Joint Chiefs of Staff overturns a 1994 rule banning women from being assigned to smaller ground combat units. Panetta´s decision gives the military services until
OMG...think of the law suits...everytime a man says something he will get sued...these woman are looking for trouble and they should not be on the front lines...they got their noses in everything....and yes I am a woman.....
Øvomit is living his ultimate dream -- to totally and completely destroy the armed forces of the United States of America!!!
Even since he was just a young boy, listening to the rantings of every ultra-lie-beral adult that he looked up to, he has been taught how evil our military is. Now he gets to do what every lie-beral has only dreamed of, and actually get to completely destroy it.
Comrade Stalin is smiling from the very bowles of Hell right now!!!
This is another one of those head-fakes and end-around by 0bama. He gets his Defense Secretary, Leon Panetta, who´s a failure at it and leaving, to do something despicable. Like gays marrying in the Washington Cathedral. This is part of the price to negotiate budget money from GOP House and closing GITMO.
Rough days ahead just beginning. You saw it in the way we were "kind" in Congress today to PIAPS. Brace yourselves.
Im sick of fighting it. Good for them. Go to combat, get your pu++y shot off like our guys are getting their penises shot off. Get gang raped. Mentally scarred. You women, mostly lesbians are going to get what you ask for. I for one am glad the women in the military will be more than baby machines in the US navy and army. Go out and get your butt shot then come back and destroy the country. I give up.
Another step in the destruction of the American family unit. The feminist movement, IMHO, is probably the most destructive social development to afflict the USA.
A woman is uniquely created to raise and nurture children, and this critical role has been minimized and cheapened by the feminists and liberal organizations. Families have been devalued and ignored by the actions of, in this instance,Hussein Obama and Panetta.
Yes, by all means put them into combat. Let them kill. There is nothing like talking a life to say "we have arrived". But make them carry the full load during a prolonged, dynamic operation, and keep up. I´m not saying by this that they can´t do it physically, because I imagine there are some that can. Nor am I saying they don´t have the guts for it, because I imagine there are some who do. But what I am saying is no breaks. If they want in combat they must be able do it all.
As I said before this is just another attack by Democrats to destroy the greatest army on earth. First gays and now women. This is purposeful and destructive. I would not go into combat with women period! I don´t care what anyone thinks of this post I wouldn´t do it. It won´t be long before all the physical strength requirements will be revised downward to accomodate women. The result will be more combat deaths just to be pc. It´s discusting what the Democrats are doing to this country!
Many callers (mostly military, ex-military) to Mark Levin´s show tonight are objecting to this, for good reason. Ironically, earlier this afternoon, Valerie Jarrett tweeted, "If there´s one thing we should all agree on, it´s protecting women from violence. Congress needs to pass the Violence Against Women Act."

First of all there are no "front lines" anymore. The battlefield is 360 degrees and female soldiers have already been engaged in the fight.
Secondly, if women think they could be placed in a combat union it will cause a lot to get out or potential recruits to reconsider.
Years ago when women started working the flight line in the Air Force, & my husband was a shop chief, they had to build new latrines for the women. The pink & blue F-15 on the doors wasn´t working. My husband assigned one of the WAFS to paint the new potty. She came back & asked to have someone help her put up the scaffolding, so he tapped another WAF. They probably didn´t think it was funny, but I thought it was hilarious, when he came home & told me.
It´s company command level officers and senior NCO´s who will have to deal with all this once the liberals insert two or three females into each infantry fire team or squad, and the multitude of personal and professional problems that will arise are not going to be pretty or career enhancing.
You have to wonder just who is going to be humping the machine guns and all the ammo that the infantry needs to survive in sustained ground combat. I can tell you that in Korea all that stuff was big time heavy. I was a BAR man and the weapon itself weighed in at over 20 lbs, then add on about fifteen 20 round magazines of ammunition, with the mountains (yamas) being very steep and always only going in one direction, up! All that is a recipe for getting pregnant damn quick and bugging out ASAP.
The only reason that the liberal Democrats can institute such ludicrous policy changes is that these days only about 1% of the US population ever serves in the military, with the other 99% not having a clue as to the extreme hardships that marines and soldiers experience during sustained ground combat operations.
Russian President Vladimir Putin believes he can “dis” the United States without repercussions, the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee said in an interview with CNN. Rep. Ed Royce (R-Calif.) told Wolf Blitzer late Friday that Putin “intends to stick his thumb in the eye of the United States every time he can.” “I think there was an opportunity with the past leadership in Russia,” Royce said. “But right now, clearly, Putin intends to ... stick his thumb in the eye of the United States every time he can. And so it´s a difficult situation.
WASHINGTON — PRESIDENT OBAMA proved himself a great segue artist Friday, as he smoothly glided from his previously unassailable position on the matter of surveillance to his new unassailable position on the matter of surveillance. There is no moral high ground that he does not seek to occupy. As with drones and gay marriage, he seems peeved that we were insufficiently patient with his own private study of the matter. Why won’t the country agree to entrust itself to his fine mind? Yet while Barry is in the thick of it, the air is thick with Hillary.
What really happened to Navy SEAL Team 6? In August 2011, the elite special forces unit suffered the worst battlefield calamity in its history. A Taliban fighter shot down a Chinook helicopter carrying 22 Navy SEAL Team 6 members in Afghanistan. All 38 persons on board — the Navy SEAL warriors, other U.S. military personnel and seven Afghan soldiers — were killed. Grieving family members have been demanding answers. They may now get some as Congress finally opens an investigation. Navy SEAL Team 6 has attained international prominence for one reason: They were responsible for killing
The Obamas are getting ready for their annual eight-day vacation to Martha´s Vineyard, where they will stay in a $7.6 million vacation home with views of the Atlantic. The First Family have been vacationing in the Vineyard for years, but this is the first time they will stay at the luxury four-bedroom Chilmark House designed by architect Rick Sundberg. With wall-to-ceiling windows, the 5,000sq ft home has stunning views over the ocean, as well as an infinity pool, tennis courts and a half basketball court. Half the cost of the President´s holiday is met by the
The Muslim world is always ready to fragment, following the traditional Bedouin saying, "I against my brother, my brothers and I against my cousins, then my cousins and I against strangers". This is the war logic of the desert, and it appears everywhere in Muslim history. In Libya, NATO and the United States foolishly knocked over Gadaffi´s tribal federation that ruled that country for decades, so that Libya today is back to civil war between tribes, families, terrorist gangs, and brothers. Most Muslim nations still preserve the primacy of brothers and cousins, because in case of trouble --
Many things are not remarkable about the growing list of names bandied about in the 2016 presidential speculation sweepstakes - you´ve got your governors, your senators, your ambitious House members, your former elected officials and cabinet members, your vice president. Most have been in politics for a long time, and a lot of them have the gray hair to prove it. One thing that is remarkable about the field, though, is the number of women identified as plausible candidates. It´s not just Hillary Clinton, who obviously looms over the race in a way no other candidate, woman or man, does.
There is widespread acceptance of the proposition that the mainstream media is fully in the tank for Barack Obama, and all his vague but pleasant-sounding initiatives. Even when you discount the fact that the president generally makes himself unavailable to take questions from the media in the first place, and carefully pre-selects those few from whom he actually does take questions, this sycophancy is not completely understandable.
A certain very erudite and always entertaining social critic remarked the other day that he always thought the worst of people. He went on to say -- perhaps, at most, half jokingly -- that he was always right about them, too. He then revealed that he actually had been very trusting as a boy, that he believed everyone and often got taken advantage of. He certainly doesn´t get taken advantage of much now, I´m sure. But what he doesn´t know is that in one significant way he hasn´t changed at all.
Diana West comes charging in at a furious gallop unfurling the banner of treason in her recent book American Betrayal. The Secret Assault on our Nation´s Character. She arrives late to the subject of Soviet infiltration of the United States. But she brings attitude, wearing her outrage on her sleeve as she recounts the duplicitous activities of key American communists and sympathizers who allegedly transformed U.S. policy to conform with Stalin´s ambitions. Despite her hyperbolic, exclamation point, italicized febrile style, the awful truth appears to materialize, like a photographic image in a pan of developing
President Barack Obama on Friday denied he has poor relations with Vladimir Putin after canceling their Moscow talks, but said the Russian president can sometimes appear "like a bored kid in the back of the classroom." U.S.-Russian relations plunged to one of their lowest points since the Cold War this week after Russia granted temporary asylum to fugitive former U.S. spy contractor Edward Snowden. Obama retaliated by abruptly canceling a Moscow summit with Putin planned for early next month. At a White House news conference on Friday, Obama insisted that he does not have bad personal relations with Putin. Staff repaired link.
America, President Barack Obama said Friday, you’re just like my wife. You’re always on my case. Obama’s patronizing attitude has never been far from the surface, or from the minds of his political opponents. But not since he said two years ago that his daughters did a better job than Congress in getting their homework done has he been this explicit. It’s the flip side of “I got this”: everyone else doesn’t. That more than anything was the theme of Obama’s brusque, brisk pre-summer vacation press conference. On Obamacare implementation, immigration reform, the Benghazi investigation and the other topics he was
Associated Press reporter Julie Pace told the Special Report panel on Fox News that his clipped response when asked about Benghazi Friday showed his discomfort with the topic that has beleaguered his administration for nearly a year. Fox News correspondent Ed Henry asked Obama about his promise to hold the attackers responsible for the Benghazi terrorist attack last September: BRET BAIER: Julie, Ed Henry asked about Benghazi and the president September 12th of last year saying that those responsible will be brought to justice. Take a listen to his answer. OBAMA: I also said that we’d get bin Laden and i
The owner of a shop in Zurich where US talk show host Oprah Winfrey says she encountered racism has called the incident a "misunderstanding". Winfrey, one of the world´s richest women, claimed an assistant refused to serve her in an upmarket handbag shop. She was apparently told one of the bags on display was "too expensive" for her. Shop owner Trudie Gotz told the BBC that Winfrey was "absolutely allowed" to look at the $35,000 (£22,500) bag, which was kept behind a screen. "My salesperson wanted to give her the handbag in her hand. But she didn´t want
Nobody tells Oprah she can´t afford a handbag. Oprah Winfrey is one of the richest entertainers in the world, thanks to her willdly successful 25-season run on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" and her latest media foray with the newly revitalized Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN). The entertainer earned an estimated $77 million from June 2012 to June 2013 alone, according to Forbes, but she says she still experiences racism because she is African American. Take this latest incident in Switzerland, where "The Butler" star went to attend the nuptials of good friend and singer Tina Turner last month.
At a White House press conference Friday afternoon, President Obama said that health insurance plans offered under Obamacare will be "significantly cheaper" than plans currently on the market, but a string of recent reports say that isn´t true. "What happens on October 1, in 53 days, is for the remaining 15 percent of the population that doesn´t have health insurance, they´re going to be able to go on a website or call up a call center and sign up for affordable, quality health insurance at a significantly cheaper rate than what they can get right now on
The Washington Post is a legend in the minds of the Washington elite, so its financial decline has caused quiet panic. As NPR media reporter David Folkenflik put it, “You think of stories like the Pentagon Papers, Watergate, these are all stories where The Washington Post led the nation’s understanding, the world’s understanding of some major issues.” Outside the liberal media, you wonder how long Post fans can wallow in their Nixon-crumbling polyester “glory days” in the early 1970s. But nostalgia ruled as the Graham family sold the Post to Jeff Bezos, the billionaire founder of Amazon.com.
Tonight, I went on Lawrence O´Donnell´s show, and Lawrence O´Donnell yelled at me. Or, rather, he O´Reilly´d at me. That O´Donnell interrupted and harangued and mansplained and was generally an angry grandpa at me is not what I take issue with, however. What bothers me is that, look: your producers take the time to find experts to come on the show, answer your questions, and, hopefully, clarify the issue at hand.
“IQ is a metric of such dubiousness that almost no serious educational researcher uses it anymore,” the Guardian’s Ana Marie Cox wrote back in May. It was a breathtakingly ignorant statement. Psychologist Jelte Wicherts noted in response that a search for “IQ test” in Google’s academic database yielded more than 10,000 hits — just for the year 2013. (Snip) There is a large discrepancy between what educated laypeople believe about cognitive science and what experts actually know. Journalists are steeped in the lay wisdom, so they are repeatedly surprised when someone forthrightly discusses the real science of mental ability.
The Clintons have decided to rent a different house in the Hamptons this summer after they only received a small portion of their security deposit back from the home they rented last year. The famous Democrats have been frequent visitors to the expensive summer getaway in Long Island, and rented the same beachfront house in 2011 and 2012. [Snip] When it comes to rentals in the Hamptons, many owners use the security deposits as a way to pay for the utility fees like heat and grounds-keeping charges. It should be little surprise then that the Lily Pond Lane home
Justice: The wife of a Fort Hood survivor claims the Defense Department is "slapping victims with gag orders" and telling family members not to talk to the press following testimony in the trial of Nidal Hasan. One of the great scandals of the Obama administration has been its shameful designation of the Nov. 5, 2009, rampage at the Army base in Killeen, Texas, by Maj. Nidal Hasan as "workplace violence." It has only compounded the pain and suffering of the victims and their families who have now apparently been ordered to shut up about it.
Forty to 50 House Republicans will support immigration reform, Rep. Luis Gutiérrez (D-Ill.) predicted Thursday. Gutiérrez said many of the Republicans supportive of immigration reform don’t want to be identified, but he insisted they would support comprehensive immigration reform. “If they ask me today, go find those 40 to 50 Republicans, I’ll tell them I found them. I know where they’re at,” Gutiérrez said in an interview with Ed O’Keefe at The Washington Post.
President Barack Obama announced Friday afternoon that the White House will publicly release a summary of the legal authorities through which the National Security Agency conducts its controversial surveillance programs. ´Given the history of abuse by governments,´ he said, it is important to explain how such a program is managed, and - equally important - what it may not do. He described his working relationship with Vladimir Putin as ´candid´ and ´blunt,´ and seemed to dismiss concerns that the Russian president´s body language indicated a lack of willingness to work with the United States.
Middle and high school students in San Diego, California will be encouraged to vent their frustration that the world lacks justice when they return to school and participate in the “Trayvon Martin dialogues” this fall. The board of San Diego Unified Schools unanimously approved a proposal recently to establish classroom forums to discuss the death of Trayvon Martin, a black teenager who was shot during an altercation with a Hispanic man, George Zimmerman, in Florida last year. A jury recently acquitted Zimmerman, who claimed that Martin struck first and shot him in self-defense.
Here’s a live log of the questions the media asked after President Obama’s scoldy opening statement regarding four reforms he is proposing to rein in his own domestic surveillance. First question, Julie Pace of AP — Pace asked Obama about the US-Russian relationship after Putin granted Edward Snowden asylum. Obama manages to work in another statement in favor of gay rights after taking a swing or two at Putin. Oh, and the US won’t boycott the Olympics in Russia. Don’t call Barack Obama another Jimmy Carter! Second question, Chuck Todd of NBC — Todd asked Obama whether he now thinks
