Clinton´s Testimony & Case
for More Embassy Security

International Business Times, by Joanne Butler

Original Article

Posted By:JoanneButler, 1/23/2013 4:41:41 PM

Secretary of State Clinton’s testimony Wednesday is really about the need for more funding to physically strengthen United States embassies. As a penny-pinching Republican, you might be surprised to learn I think this is a good idea. Having worked with a former Iranian U.S. hostage from 1979 -- the Canadians smuggled him out -- and a lucky U.S. foreign affairs officer who happened to be in a meeting elsewhere when our embassy in Kenya was blown up in 1998, this matter is personal to me. And when I think what it was like working at the U.S. House on Sept.11, my feelings grow that much

What´s the point of us having a consulate in a war zone like Benghazi?
Isn´t that like the Libyans having a consulate in a war zone like Chicago?

Is it just my imagination, or is Congress afraid to put this lying whore under oath?

If you want to go to work for the government, just go ahead and do it, but you´d better understand that none of the people in Washington, of any strip, color or party, really give a damn about about you any ore than they do the people who are footing the bill. If there´s any money, power or prestige for them attached to some event, you can bet they´ll shoot the legs out from under you in a heartbeat just to be able to obtain it. That´s how it all really works.

Appears her testimony makes a case for her to be held for psychiatric observation.

The money was never a factor in the decisions made. That was admitted by the State Dept. not long after the attack.

That fact makes this article suspect from the "git go".

They have the money but chose to spend it on parties and waste. So now they want more money. No thanks on that deal

What percentage of us (who even cared) were under the impression that US Marines guarded our embassies and foreign service personnel in hostile lands?

Especially near "the shores of Tripoli"!

Reply 9 - Posted by: lakerman1, 1/23/2013 8:47:02 PM     (No. 9135328)

#8,most of us thoought the marines were armed guards. but the reality is that they are mostly symbols of security, with unloaded weapons.
And hillary said something was was truthful, among her lie, and here it is.
The u.s. embassy folks are really at the mercy of the host country. but the additional truth to that is that we never should have our embassy folks in an unstable country. That is just plain stupid, with lots of wishful thinking by the U.S. added in.
The brits bailed out of benghazi, as did the international red cross. perhaps hillary missed out on that critical information while she was doing wine tasting in various countries.
No one was in charge at State. No one!
And that Board that investigated the benghazi mess didn´t interview Hillary!
Why not? Hillary said that if the Board thought she could add information to their findings, they would have requested an interview with her! How crazy is that??

Will this continue throughout Obama´s presidency! He has caused more turmoil and discontent than all the previous occupants of the White House.

Seems the only sin for the Libs is "getting caught"!

Obama has continually done all he is able to, knowing exactly what he is doing, to destroy America.

Congress needs to stand up for righteousness, not political-correctness!

Hillary may think she got by today, but her day is still ahead of her when God has the last word and she won´t like it. He knows the truth and mostly, He knows her heart/mind/soul/spirit!

Congress, the White House as well as the Judiciary all need to know that they are supposed to represent US, their employer and the one who pays their salaries!

Prayer alone is our own salvation, knowing God hears and will act when we sincerely, humbly come to Him for His intercesson.

Obama may think he is above the law, but God is still sovereign and He will have the last word. Amen (So be it) The sooner the better!

An Easier Fix for Medicare

The latest Republican pronouncements on saving Medicare, via Rep. Paul Ryan’s upcoming budget plan, reminds me of a Roger Rabbit cartoon -- characters careening around, some just missing the vat of acid, others not. Last year, certain Republicans told us if you were 55 or older, your Medicare benefits would be “safe,” but today’s rumors revise that age to be upward of 57. I can smell that vat of acid getting closer. But there’s a much easier way to reduce Medicare costs. Honestly, it won’t hurt a bit.

Back in the 1980s, a friend of mine was laid off from a defense contractor. That night he unplugged the cable box to his TV — to send his family a message that things were going to be tough for a while. I suggest that, especially in light of the sequester, the federal government follow my friend’s example and get busy pulling the plug on unnecessary televisions and cable TV contracts.

From my perch in Delaware, I can only marvel at how faded pols suddenly become white-hot in the blink of an eye. Take former Senator Chuck Hagel, for instance. I met him once back in 1999, early in his first Senate term. I’ve met many politicians in my career, but I won’t soon forget that afternoon in Hagel’s office.

RUSH: Folks, I don´t know how else to categorize this. We are living in a dying country. I don´t know how else to categorize what´s happening -- 88,000 new jobs. The unemployment rate, because of a terrible statistic, is down to 7.6%. The number of people in this country who are not working is shameful. Ninety million Americans are no longer in the workforce. Ninety million. People not in the labor force grew by 663,000, and now 90 million. That´s the labor force participation rate. This is 1979 levels.

President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. But I´ve long felt we lack a solid theoretical underpinning for easily discussing these issues, and why precisely it is that

No one is more preoccupied these days with Hillary Clinton´s 2016 plans than the Beltway political class—not even the former presidential candidate herself. To hear some tell it, her decision will be dispositive for all other Democrats thinking of entering the race. And pundits and reporters aren´t the only ones positing the "The Hillary Factor": No less than the House Democratic whip, Steny Hoyer, told BuzzFeed, “I don´t know that anybody would run against Hillary…. If she runs, she clears the field.” It´s an understandable conclusion, given Clinton´s stature in the Democratic Party and her 70 percent

I hope all will look at a lifetime of service over some poorly chosen words.” Carson will remain as commencement speaker at Johns Hopkins,

Michelle Obama has admitted that she is already tired of the bangs she first sported in January. The First Lady said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight: ´Bangs are a day-by-day proposition. They´re starting to grow out, get a little irritating.´ Still, she hasn´t let her hairdo woes get her down. ´It´s okay,´ she said after her initial complaint. ´We´ll be good.´ The first indication that her hairstyle was becoming a burden came about last weekend, when Malia, 14, was spotted adjusting her mother´s hair during the White House Easter Egg Roll.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton explained to the Women in the World summit in New York today that the clock is turning back for women in America. Clinton praised her own mother for helping empower her to success and marveled at the opportunities that her own daughter Chelsea has pursued. But Clinton warned that there is still so much to do to promote women´s rights in America. "As I look at all these young women that I am privileged to work with, or know through Chelsea, and its hard to imagine turning the clock on them," Clinton said.

The Obama White House is scrambling to blame Friday’s abysmal March jobs numbers on the sequester’s trimming of the rate of growth in federal budgets that have yet to fully commence. After the Labor Department announced that a mass exodus of 663,000 workers left the U.S. workforce last month and that job creation fell 112,000 jobs short of projections, Obama’s top economic adviser Alan B. Krueger, took to the White House blog to blame the sequester: It is important to bear in mind that the March household and payroll surveys are the first monthly surveys to look

SANFORD - Trayvon Martin´s parents have settled a wrongful death claim for an amount believed to be more than $1 million against the homeowners association of the Sanford subdivision where their teenage son was killed. Their attorney, Benjamin Crump, filed that paperwork at the Seminole County Courthouse, a portion of which was made public today. In the five pages of the settlement that were available for public review, the settlement amount had been marked out. Lower in the agreement, the parties specified that they would keep that amount confidential. When asked during an earlier interview whether the amount was

On Friday, Sean Hannity brought Pat Smith, mother of the late Sean Smith, on his radio program. The 34-year-old information management officer was one of four Americans murdered in the Benghazi embassy attack on September 11, 2012. In the chilling interview, a distraught Ms. Smith, in tears, pleaded for answers and spoke of the efforts to silence her. Ms. Smith first relayed how her son, prior to the attack, requested additional security in advance and warned the State Department: He did tell them, ahead of time, he typed it into his little typewriter over there,
