Washington – A Pentagon investigation has cleared Gen. John Allen, the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, of professional misconduct in exchanging emails with a civilian woman linked to the sex scandal that led retired Gen. David Petraeus to resign as CIA director. Pentagon press secretary George Little said Tuesday that Defense Secretary Leon Panetta was informed of the conclusion by the Pentagon´s inspector general. "The secretary was pleased to learn that allegations of professional misconduct were not substantiated by the investigation," Little said, adding that Panetta has "complete confidence in the continued leadership" of Allen.

Because that mendacious wack job Broadwell decided that Petraeus belonged to her and stirred up a bunch of bogus hornet´s nests, that´s why. It would not have been fair to leave General Allen under a cloud. There was no cloud.

Tel Aviv-Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said on Sunday a $10 billion arms deal planned with Arab and Israeli allies sent a "very clear signal" to Iran that military options remain on the table over its nuclear program. "The bottom line is that Iran is a threat, a real threat," Hagel, who arrived in Israel on Sunday on his first visit there as defense secretary, told reporters on his plane. "The Iranians must be prevented from developing that capacity to build a nuclear weapon and deliver it," he said. Hagel was due to meet Israeli Defence Minister Moshe Yaalon

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, was in "very serious" condition at a Boston hospital after being captured Friday night, Menino told ABC´s "This Week" program. New York – Built in to President Obama’s budget proposal for 2014 is a $580 million contingency fund to address the turmoil roiling the Middle East and North Africa, to be spent across the region over the course of the year at the discretion of the White House and the State Department. That sum is striking some members of the Congress as too large for an administration without a coherent policy toward the Arab Spring. A crowd of marijuana smokers expected to swell to 80,000 gathered Saturday in Denver to mark the counterculture holiday known as 4/20 on the first celebration since Colorado and Washington made pot legal for recreation use. Reggae music filled the air, and so did the smell of marijuana, as celebrants gathered by mid-morning in a park just beside the state Capitol. Few police were in sight, though public marijuana use is still prohibited here. "People aren´t afraid to come out and celebrate it, the way they used to be," said 52-year-old Charles Bade of Denver.

The older of the suspected marathon bombers was the black sheep of the family who ´used his younger brother´ and had fallen out with an uncle he called on the eve of his death, relatives have said. It has emerged the terror suspect´s best friend died in a gruesome unsolved murder two years ago, just after Tamerlan said he had ´one single American friend´.

The most intriguing nugget from the big Boston Globe profile of the Tsarnaev Brothers (the brothers suspected of carrying out the Boston Marathon attack) is this one: Gym owner Allan said that Tamerlan had once introduced him to an American, Brendan Mess, whom Tamerlan described as his best friend. Two years ago, Mess and two other men were brutally killed in a Waltham apartment where they were found by police with their throats slit and their bodies covered with marijuana. The murders remain unsolved. Nobody states that there´s a connection, but obviously now everyone´s wondering if there is one.

In 1962, at the Carlyle Hotel in New York, a man “peeled off his clothing and began prancing around his hotel suite.” His bodyguards were cautiously amused, until the man “left the suite and began roaming through the corridor of the Carlyle.” The man in question was delusional, paranoid and suffering a “psychotic break” from the effects of an overdose of methamphetamine. He was also the president of the United States. The reason for John F. Kennedy’s bizarre behavior was that, according to an explosive new book, the president was — unbeknownst to him, at first — a meth addict.

So once again, no good deed goes unpunished. Uncle Sam lets another bunch of leeching future terrorists into the country who have absolutely no business being here, gives them “asylum,” making them immediately eligible for welfare, and this is the thanks we get? They turn into mass murderers. We bring in thousands of Muslims from a primitive society that has been battling Christians for centuries, and put them into a peaceful Christian society — what could possible go wrong? This is what I was thinking about yesterday, with much of the city under what amounted to martial law.
