McDonald´s pays out $700k

McDonald´s has paid out $700,000 to members of the Muslim community after one of its franchise restaurants in Michigan falsely advertised its food had been prepared according to Islamic dietary laws. A Muslim Detroit resident, Ahmed Ahmed, claimed he bought a chicken sandwich in September 2011 at a Dearborn McDonald´s but found it was not halal - meaning it did not meet Islamic requirements for preparing food. The restaurant is one of two in Dearborn which sells halal products to cater for an area with one of the nation´s largest Arab and Muslim communities. Mr Ahmed then approached lawyer Kassem

Comments:
I´m almost afraid to ask what prizes come with the Happy Meal.

They should sell what they claim to sell, but I wonder when we´ll see lawsuits about multicultural conundrums such as not being offered the choice to press "1" for Language X, and so forth.

Halal means slitting the animal´s throat and letting it bleed to death. Where is PETA? More and more items are showing up in our supermarkets marked as being Halal. Be careful what you purchase. Read the labels. Don´t support these barbarians.

When I was a kid in the 50´s,my dad took me to a local guy who butchered chickens on a small factory basis. He cut off the heads and drained them by sticking them in a funnel. If that ain´t halal, what is?

Excuse me but why should those people complain about "fake" halal when they helped put a FAKE president in the White House?

Oh wait...I forgot. Its Islam. It isnt about the draining, people, its about the defecation that is Islamic "prayer."

And exactly how did he find out his sandwich wasn´t halal ? From his inside source ? Did he get notification that they ran out that day and hop on over ?

Inch by inch it´s a chinch. Keep catering to them and see where it goes. I was in the grocery store tonight and some kids were testing the crowd.

Micky D´s should out up a sign that says We no longer sell halal to make up for the guy that screwed us.

When the government approved letting states experiment with new ways to deliver Medicaid services, it promised the innovations wouldn’t cost taxpayers any extra money. Somebody in the bureaucracy, however, failed to keep track. A new report by the chief watchdog for Congress finds that the so-called demonstration projects have cost taxpayers as much as $32 billion more than if the program has just been left alone over the last five years. The overages include $21 billion in overpayments by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to individual states, and another $11 billion in extra spending by the states,

The department reversed after earlier saying no such review had taken place. On Wednesday, Arnn told lawmakers during testimony against the state’s adoption of Common Core standards in reading, writing and math that his college had been approached by the Department of Education because it “didn’t have enough dark ones,” referring to minority students. Philadelphia — New Jersey´s law requiring residents show a "justifiable need" to get a permit to carry a handgun in public was upheld by a federal appeals court. A mandate that residents demonstrate an "urgent necessity for self-protection" to get authorization to publicly carry a handgun doesn´t run afoul of U.S. constitutional protections of the right to bear firearms, a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals in Philadelphia ruled Wednesday. "The justifiable need standard is a longstanding regulation that enjoys presumptive constitutionality," the panel wrote. The ruling comes more than four months after the U.S. Supreme Court rebuffed

Critics of the president are convinced that Barack Obama will do lasting damage to the U.S. I doubt it. Obama came to power in the third year of large Democratic congressional majorities. In his first referendum, he lost the House and he may soon lose the Senate; in other words, there followed a somewhat normal reaction against a majority party. Obama’s popularity rating is well below 50%, despite an obsequious media and a brilliantly negative billion-dollar campaign that long ago turned Mitt Romney into a veritable elevator-using, equestrian-marrying, canine-hating monster. Ending a war is a good thing. Killing civilians a bad thing. Deliberately targeting civilians is murder, and is never morally licit, even in pursuit of a good thing such as ending a war. The tens of thousands of Japanese non-combatants we killed 68 years ago this week with two nuclear bombs were not “collateral damage” of military strikes. They were the intended targets. We hoped that mass murder would bring the Japanese emperor to surrender. It worked, and American and Japanese soldiers’ lives were probably saved by it —

In a rare diplomatic snub, President Obama is canceling plans to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow next month. The decision reflects both U.S. anger over Russia´s harboring of National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden and growing frustration within the Obama administration over what it sees as Moscow´s stubbornness on other key issues, including missile defense and human rights. Obama will still attend the Group of 20 economic summit in St. Petersburg, Russia, but a top White House official said the president had no plans to hold one-on-one talks with Putin while there.
