Inaugurating President Chamberlain
National Review Online, by Roger Kimball

Original Article

Posted By:Dreadnought, 1/21/2013 10:46:05 PM

Obama’s speech: Very long on gaseous generalities; exiguous with details. “Par for the course,” you say. Yes and no. Yes, an inaugural speech is intended to set the tone for an administration rather than spell out in detail a policy program. I appreciated, as must every American of good will, his promise that his oath of office was before “God and country, not party or faction.” I wish I could believe it. Most leftist commentators I’ve checked in on have regarded the speech as they regard Barack Obama, as a consummate example of “pragmatism.”

Chamberlain was a naive useful idiot who ultimately saw the light. Obama is in league with our jihadist enemies. A traitor.

There used to be a penalty to be paid for that.

Yeah, BO is a terrorist who never solves any problems, because he doesn´t want to land the plane. Just crash it into something hard. That´s why he borrows with abandon; counsels that spending is the key; demonizes all who propose a more prudent way. Today we found out that Stinky the Gunrunner provided the weapons for the Algerian massacre via Libya. Mexico, Libya, Syria, and now Mali. And like a good gunrunner, Stinky tried to profit from both sides of the conflict by charging the French to haul their troops. Heard this before? Of course you have.

Obama is the closest thing to a potential dictator in the Oval Office in all American history. He definitely fits the profile. Obama and Hitler could be related they have so much in common.

A good catch. There is no way the "peace in our time" phrase was not intentional. Obama is signaling to freedom´s Islamist enemies that he is Chamberlain, not Churchill. But didn´t they already know that?

#6, they may realize he´s on their side, but they hate him anyway! I wonder about that ´private´ swearing in Sunday. I imagine him swearing eternal loyalty to Allah, Mao, the prophet Muhammad, etc, on a Koran once owned by Osama himself. And oh yeah, instead of "So help me God", I imagine he said "So help me, Me!" [like George Burns in Oh, God]

In his speech, he told us that he would fundamentally transform our country to his liking despite anything the Constitution says.

Tis hard to discern the basis of Roosevelt´s dislike foe Joe Kennedy. Yes, Joe Kennedy was an isolationist, but so was Charles Lindberg. I suspect FDR´s dislike of old Joe was his potential foe being a political rival. As for the ´Bamster, I think he is trying to insulate himself from a serious case of karma that is going to explode on his second watch.

Obama is so fundamentally wrong in his thinking. I am astounded that he has the guts to say what he does, but when your whole life you have had people telling you how wonderful you are and then without any real qualifications or accomplishments you rise to the highest office in the land, apparently he is as gullible as the rest of the wacky left are. It must be something in their DNA because they believe the most absurd and easily rebutted political philosophy to come down the pike. They care nothing for facts. It all comes down to how they "feel" and people can get very passionate about their feelings. The RNC needs to produce short hip clever 30 second spots on TV and use social media to try and educate those who think and do what they are told. Once the pain hits, and it will, they will be more open to listen. The RNC desperately needs needs some new blood when it comes to reaching the Obama voters. They expect nasty and stubborn but they don´t expect anything effective. Humor with bite and truth will make them squeal. We have to beat them at their own game. Please, I am begging the Republicans think outside the box or Obama´s dreams of his father will become reality.

Aarghhh!!!
It was Richard Nixon. "Peace in our time, and in our children´s time." Much more recent than Chamberlain.
Obama is remarkably Nixonian in many ways. His making (and then breaking) promises. His excessive desire for pomp and ceremony. His coterie of crooked advisors.
Now the question: what will cause the collapse? Benghazi? Fast and Furious? Somalia? Syria? Blagoievich and the Senate seat sale? Where is the Zippy Whitewater? Or maybe the payoff to Rev. Wright?
So many cans of worms. So little time.

Stay tuned, folks.
It is going to be a rough ride.

When I heard that phrase yesterday, I said "Neville Obama".

“Peace in our time,” the president said, “requires the constant advance of those principles that our common creed describes: tolerance and opportunity; human dignity and justice.”

The problem with the Left´s "tolerance" and "opportunity" is that it´s always for evil. Human dignity cannot come from that, but, justice will come one day for those who do evil and those who do right.

Yes what Obama is doing to the country real time makes it hard to watch him under any circumstances. Why rub it in? If one does watch, get the foam tv brick ready. The amazing aspect is the royal treatment he got even though he has numerous scandals on his record. You suck and full steam ahead!

If you want to get under a liberal´s skin, when they say things like the economy is better under Obama, just mention the credit downgrade and it being the first under any president; they get livid and blame it on pubs. Bringing up the execution style killing of the gay members of his church such as Young also sets them off, when libs mention how he´s on the rainbow people´s side. More so if one posts the link about Young´s mother(former cop) speaking out to say Obama had it done to protect his reputation pre-election.

I opened up on the libs like a Vulcan cannon on the 21st. I wanted it on record on inauguration day just why this man doesn´t deserve another term.

#19 - brilliant! We can all call to mind the photographs of Obama with a flunky holding the Imperial Bumbershoot over Caesar Obama´s Imperial Cranium.

As for the rest -- Obama seems to be a practitioner of the Inverted Truth. We all know, for example, that when he talks about "civility" he means to ramp up his partisan nastiness. If he says, "Peace in Our Time" he really means he intends to embroil us in conflict, defeat, and humiliation abroad. In other words, just take anything he says, invert the meaning, and you will have his real meaning.

I dug this out in absolutely fabulous Martin Amis´s book: Koba the Dread: laughter and the twenty million. This is the quote:
[..] is unhappy at not being able to convince everyone, himself included that he is greater than everyone; and this unhappiness of his may be his most human trait, perhaps the only human trait in him. But what is not human, but rather something devilish, is that because of this unhappiness he cannot help taking revenge on people, on all people but especially those who are in any way better or higher than he.
Whose name is in braces? Stalin´s - that´s what his party comrade Bukharin said about him in 1936. In 1938 he was killed by stalin.

I guess I will have to though and besides that, I think he wants to be a president (with a very small "p") for more than four years. I think the people who elected him will be very sorry for their vote in a not too distant future.

President Obama defiantly defended his reluctance to increase the U.S.intervention in Syria, saying he has yet to receive clear, corroborated evidence to back up initial intelligence reports of small-scale use of chemical weapons by the Syrian regime and would not make a decision based on a “hope and a prayer.” Mr. Obama last summer said chemical use by Syrian leader Bashar Assad would be a “red line” that would change his calculus about authorizing U.S. action in that country’s civil war. After four years of trillion-dollar deficits, the red ink is receding rapidly in Washington, easing pressure on policymakers but shattering hopes for a summertime budget deal. Federal tax revenue is up and spending is down thanks to an improving economy, tax hikes enacted in January and the automatic budget cuts known as the sequester. The sunnier outlook means that President Obama will be able to pay the nation’s bills for months without seeking additional borrowing authority from Congress — probably until Oct. 1, according to independent forecasts.

The Democrats already had control of the House of Representatives, and in July they would get their 60th vote in the Senate as well. The sky was the limit. Yet it turned out to be, for Reid, a curse more than a blessing. The Democrats had spent most of the previous decade smearing George W. Benghazi was never about a movie. Ever. On the day of the attack in Benghazi, the US embassy in Cairo, Egypt had come under siege at the encouragement of al Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood. While the riot in Cairo was being blamed on the Nakoula Nakoula YouTube movie in the media, the Cairo riot was never really about the movie. Ever. The “Innocence of Muslims” movie, which the vast majority of the Cairo mob had never seen, was used by the riot’s leaders to stir up anger and bring out the crowd. But on September 10, 2012

I hope military and civilian policy makers carefully read Bing West’s post responding to various excuses advanced for failing to aid embattled Americans in Benghazi on September 11, 2012. I could never improve on a Bing West military analysis, but let me also add that September 11, 2012, was a profound moral failure. The degree of courage displayed that night was apparently inversely proportional to the decision-maker’s distance from Libya. The Americans on the scene fought valiantly, outgunned (by a rag-tag band of terrorists, no less; thanks to inexcusably negligent decisions to drawdown before the attack),

When it first became clear that the CIA’s Benghazi talking points had been altered, many of us viewed the White House as the prime suspect. After all, it served President Obama’s political purposes to claim, at the height of a political campaign in which he was taking credit for the fall of al Qaeda, that the death of a U.S. ambassador was down to spontaneous outrage over a video, rather than pre-planned terrorism. It turns out, however, that the State Department was the prime culprit. It was State that pushed back hard against the original talking points.

Republican lawmakers, who have spent months seeking to tie President Obama to last year’s deadly attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, are increasingly focusing their probe on a new target: former secretary of state Hillary Rodham Clinton. The GOP-led investigation of the Sept. 11, 2012, assaults that killed U.S. Ambassador J. Three State Department officials are scheduled to testify before a House committee on Wednesday about the Benghazi attack and its aftermath.

Sanford, who has never lost an election, returns to the 1st District seat he held for three terms from 1995-2001. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee took to the House floor Monday night and implied that the right to health care and education exists in the Constitution. Ms. Jackson Lee, Texas Democrat, also made the case that the moral authority for such services is also derived from the Declaration of Independence. “One might argue that education and health care fall into those provisions of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness,” she said. Ms. Jackson Lee added, “I think that what should be continuously emphasized is the president’s leadership on one single point: that although health care was not

On the air and online, Attkisson has questioned the administration’s timeline and its response. (Snip) While other media, particularly Fox News, have been similarly skeptical about the official narrative about Benghazi, Attkisson and CBS might put the story in a different light. As a much-decorated reporter from a news

“We´ve had a tough go of it this last year,” Cumulus CEO Lew Dickey said Tuesday morning. “The facts are indisputable regarding the impact certain things have had on ad dollars." Dickey told analysts on the earnings call that his radio empire’s revenue was down $5.6 million in the first quarter of 2013 on top of a boatload of debt. Why? Parse the weasel words (“the impact of certain things”) and you’ll see that Dickey is blaming one man for the precipitous decline of right-wing talk radio’s profitability: Rush Limbaugh. El Rushbo is still a giant in the industry,
