| Today in his second inaugural address, President Obama became the progressive leader that many liberals thought they were getting when they voted him into office four years ago. Couched in rhetoric about the need to come together as a country was a strong — and surprisingly pointed — invocation of a laundry list of progressive principles: gay rights, voting rights, climate change and the inherent value of entitlement programs like Medicare and Social Security.

Never in my life have I been as afraid of my government or as uneasy about the future. I have seceded from the liberals I know. I refuse to talk to them or patronize their businesses. They can force me to follow their laws and steal my money, but they cannot force me to like it.

Yes, #3 in total agreement here. Even liberal family members. No contact or interaction. Felt once 2012 arrived I could crawl out from under the bed. Unfortunately, it did not happen.

#3 I´m with you. I don´t like them either, to put it mildly. I did stop associating with them years ago. They are a nasty mean people and before its over they will feel the pain of supporting this want to be Dictator. He is at his peak 51% right now 30% here we come.

Same attitude as #3. With years of experience in software development and computer systems I am the go to guy when friends, family and their friends have difficult computer problems. At least I was. Now I draw a firm line and will not provide support or even tips to known liberals and I´m fairly blunt in my refusals.
I´m a producer. They voted with the moochers. End of story.

I feel like Romans 1:28-32 "... God gave them over to a depraved mind...." Much of the incivility in the political arena comes from the "progressive" side filled with "every kind of wickedness". Not saying that conservatives are morally perfect but OWS perfectly captures the lawless power-hungry spirit behind liberalism.

It may not turn out as bad as it seems. Remember, Obama does not like his job. He´s not good at negotiating. He hands tough jobs to blue ribon commissions, Biden or others who then compromise. Obama´s not good at his job. Expect him to spend even more time on the golf course and vacations.

Over the weekend, the Saddleback Valley Community Church announced the sad news that Pastor Rick Warren‘s youngest son, Matthew, committed suicide at the age of 27, after a long struggle with mental illness. On Monday, Megyn Kelly‘s panel took on some of the “despicable” reaction that followed — questioning why the pastor isn’t afforded basic compassion by some of his critics. Noting the “shocking” and “disgusting” vitriol directed at the pastor following the news, Kelly declined to “give a voice to the haters.” Father Jonathan Morris, a Fox News contributor, agreed, deeming the attacks “ridiculous,” “tasteless,” and simply “very sad.”

Bernard Anderson, a pathbreaking African-American economist, understands the importance of rhetoric. He was up front at the Lincoln Memorial when Martin Luther King Jr. gave his historic “I Have a Dream” speech in 1963. And he was in the audience on the Howard University campus in 1965 to hear President Johnson deliver a grim view of the state of black America and declare war on “past injustice and present prejudice.” So Anderson had high hopes as he sat at home in Pennsylvania watching President Obama deliver his second Inaugural Address this year.

Washington is edging closer to a budget deal, thanks to a gutsy change in strategy at the White House. Next week, President Obama will propose specific cuts to Social Security and Medicare in his annual budget, according to senior White House officials. WASHINGTON — The North Korean army warned the United States on Wednesday it has been cleared to wage nuclear war using “smaller, lighter and diversified weapons.” In a speech earlier in the day, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel noted that North Korea has both the nuclear weapons and the delivery system “now.” It’s the latest round in an escalation of rhetoric and actions that began with a North Korean nuclear test in February. Still, military officials and experts don’t expect North Korea to launch an attack on the United States.

Two breaking news alerts came through the wire this afternoon: First, the AP sent word that Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel has called North Korea´s latest rhetoric a real, clear danger and threat to the U.S. and its allies. Within minutes, CNBC announced that the Pentagon has sent a new missile defense to Guam. The reports that followed those alerts added some meat to the storty -- "Hagel´s comments come as tensions continue to rise between North and South Korea," etc. -- but they are notably lacking in context. How serious is the threat, really? Are the North and South on the verge of war, or is this yet another bluff?

In a bizarre new twist to the saga of Sen. Bob Menendez and his donor-friend Salomon Melgen, members of Melgen’s circle are now hurling accusations at FBI agents investigating the pair’s relationship. During an appearance on the weekly Dominican TV show La Respuesta last week, Melgen’s uncle Vincho Castillo accused the FBI of threatening and kidnapping two of Melgen’s maids. In addition to being the Dominican Republic’s top drug cop and founder of a far right-wing political party, Vincho Castillo is also the father of Vinicito Castillo, a lawyer who allegedly participated in sex parties organized by Melgen.

My nephew’s high school government class is studying propaganda, a word most students associated with Hitler, Goebbels, and the like. “I deal with propagandists every day,” I told the class in the Detroit area last week. “They work in the White House and in Congress--Republicans and Democrats alike.” The kids were a bit surprised. “Are you calling them Nazis?” one asked. Of course not, I replied, but politicians today are using new communications tools to spread their version of the truth, much of it misleading. A smart piece by Nancy Benac of the Associated Press describes how the Obama White House “image machine” works--“serving up a stream of words, images, and videos that invariably cast the president as commanding, compassionate, and on the ball.

North Korea’s young leader Kim Jong-un is waiting for United States President Barack Obama to make a phone call to Pyongyang to discuss easing tensions on the Korean peninsula, according to Russia’s news agency Itar-Tass. The report cited United Kingdom diplomats, saying Pyongyang was demanding the U.S. president personally call Kim Jong-un as one of the conditions to relieve the current conflict at hand. Itar-Tass also quoted the U.K.’s Sky News as saying North Korea currently has eight nuclear warheads.

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”
