Figure skating champion Michelle
Kwan marries political scion
in Rhode Island ceremony

Daily Mail [UK], by Mike Jaccarino

Original Article

Figure-skating sensation Michelle Kwan and the scion of a Rhode Island political family have married in Rhode Island. Kwan - a two-time Olympic medalist - and Clay Pell exchanged vows at the First Unitarian Church in Providence on Saturday. About 250 guests attended the ceremony, including Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee and his wife, Stephani, as well as Olympic champions Brian Boitano, Dick Button and Dorothy Hamill, according to People Magazine. ´You could feel the love Michelle and Clay have for each other, a guest told the magazine´s website. ´They are truly a perfect match.´

Comments:
She looks so beautiful. I´ve always liked her but I´m sorry to see her so firmly ensconsed in the 0bama regime in the State Department. You have to give the Daily Mail credit. They offer some of the best photographs of any news source.

Armed police officers for the wedding? WIth real guns?
The best the police could do for us, when I married Mrs. Lakerman, was a set of bags to place over parking meters in front of the church. Those spaces were then reserved.
And we had to pay for that.
But, after all, we are the little people.

House probes veteran bias, whistle-blower

A House committee is set to examine hiring practices at a Department of Energy agency in Oregon that allegedly discriminated against veterans and retaliated against whistle-blowers. The Committee on Oversight and Government Reform is holding a Thursday morning hearing regarding allegations of illegal personnel practices at the Bonneville Power Administration, a component of the federal agency that generates roughly one-third of all power used in the Northwest. Bonneville officials, according to a July 16 management alert report by the Department of Energy’s Office of Inspector General, engaged in “prohibited personnel practices”

Newly-installed Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz said Thursday that the threat of a cyber attack shutting down the U.S. electric grid is the biggest worry of the Obama administration, not an electromagnetic pulse like the one the Earth barely avoided two weeks ago. "What I have to say is that the whole set of issues that could disrupt the grid are ones that we do look at. But our biggest focus, not surprisingly, is on cyber security in terms of disruption of the grid," Moniz told Secrets during a media breakfast hosted by the Christian Science Monitor.

If Congress passes a continuing resolution (CR) that defunds President Obama´s signature health care law, and the president refuses to sign it, any resulting government shutdown will be Obama’s fault, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said Tuesday on the Senate floor. "If we pass a budget that pays for everything except for Obamacare, and the President says he´ll veto that, it is he who wants to shut down the government. It is he who is basically saying, ´I will shut down the government unless it pays for Obamacare.´ And that is an unreasonable position.

If the IRS scandal is “phony” as President Obama claims it is, then why is the agency redacting the documents that it is sending to Congress like this? That’s among the questions that Rep. Jim Jordan is asking. Jordan sits on the House Oversight Committee, which is investigating the IRS’ abuse of conservative groups — abuse to which it confessed on May 10. Jordan says that many of the 13,000 pages that the IRS sent the committee look like the ones above. Which are totally blacked out. “How do you get to the truth, when this is the kind

President Obama has been rolling up his sleeves campaigning across the country delivering a surreal stump speech message supposedly aimed at the middle class: big government works, Obamacare is manna from heaven, the wave of recent scandals are “phony” figments of the imagination, and all economic problems are the fault of the Republicans. Conveniently, he leaves out the bankruptcy of Detroit, a city run by his own party for more than half a century. His message is so stale and unconvincing, that even The New York Times and Washington Post have noticed. Both papers, usually loyal to Obama, remarked that

The correspondence suggests the discrimination of conservative groups extended beyond the IRS and into the FEC, where an attorney from the agency’s enforcement division in at least one case sought and received tax information about the status of a conservative group,

Sen. John McCain — a Democrat? There was confusion Wednesday after the Arizona Republican mistakenly strolled into President Obama’s meeting with Senate Democrats at the Capitol. The room full of Democrats — who happened to be meeting in the same room where the Senate GOP usually holds their weekly policy luncheons — erupted in applause and laughter as the former Republican presidential candidate made his entrance. As McCain, 76, walked out of the Dem-filled space, reporters pressed him as to why he stepped foot in the room.

No matter how much you may hope for it, it seems unlikely that you´ll be using the phrase "Senator Sarah Palin" with any great regularity in 2015. A new poll indicates that the former Alaska governor is about as popular in the state as Barack Obama — which is to say, not very popular at all.
