Axelrod On Gun Control:
"There´s An Opportunity
That Didn´t Exist Before"

Real Clear Politics, by Ian Schwartz

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 1/21/2013 10:41:41 AM

DAVID AXELROD: One thing that gives me hope is that I see 85, 90% of Americans saying, yes, we should have universal background checks for anyone who buys a gun. That would be an enormous step forward. And frankly, I don´t think even the NRA can defeat that. because I think that there´s such a consensus among the American people for that. 65% of Americans think we ought to limit the size of these magazines to a reasonable number of rounds so that we don´t have situations where people can open fire on a crowd

Comments:
What he meant to say was never let a crisis go to waste. He just can´t resist in again making reference to the "fringe" represented by the NRA. In truth this regime contains the members of the radical fringe, including the leader of them all, 0bama.

It´s not "gun control."

It´s "citizen disarmamement."

Words have power. Recast the argument.

Most people, when asked whether everyone who buys a gun should have a background check, are thinking about buying from someone who makes money from selling guns, or at least has not really thought it through. They do not think about situations like one a couple of friends of mine used to do on a regular basis. The two hunted together regularly. One of them however was very bad at managing his money and would be short of cash early in the year. So, my other friend would buy one of his guns from him with the agreement to sell it back for the same price come hunting season (the first would always decide he wanted a different gun come hunting season and thus buy a new gun each year, allowing my other friend to get new guns on a regular basis for well below market price).

FTA: DAVID AXELROD: One thing that gives me hope is that I see 85, 90% of Americans saying, yes, we should have universal background checks for anyone who buys a gun. Does that include the 87@ of murders committed by black and brown people in Chicago?
To my knowledge background checks are required in a great majority of states. I know Florida requires a 3 day waiting period for checks. His problem is gun shows or private sales. If I were to buy a gun it would be at a gun show.

There is an "opportunity" for normal Americans to see just what will happen if they do not defend their rights and their Constitution. They will be rolled over by lawbreaking fools
circumventing the Constitution every chance they get, making their OWN rules, and attempting to take as much as they can away from you for their own desires.

I´ve bought guns at gun shows and been robbed as often as not. Like used car dealers, these guys buy at the cheapest price possible, know nothing about the gun and sell it to some sucker like me. By the time I know it doesn´t work the dealer is long gone. I only buy accessories and ammunition at shows now.
Gun shops are good but a little pricey. Still, I only got a bad one once from a gun shop.
Private sales are better because there is no government paper trail. I usually have the seller give me a bill of sale (if it is a stranger) but otherwise nothing. They cant come and get a gun if they don´t know who has it.
The best way is to inherit them.

This is misdirection, just like a magician wants you looking at his right hand while his left hand is hiding the coin.

First point: There is NO GUN SHOW LOOPHOLE. It is a lie. All sales at gun shows meet EXACTLY the same rules as at any other location or time.

If you sell guns to make a living, you MUST be a Federally licensed gun dealers and ALL sales ANYWHERE require paperwork and a FBI background check.
If I go to a gun show with a rifle over my shoulder, I can sell it to someone there, no different than I can sell a used computer. Most states have no laws about private gun sales. Since most newspapers will no longer take firearms ads, and neither will Craig´s List, gun shows becomes the only way to easily bring sellers and buyers together. 20 yrs ago, guns were sold privately mostly thru ads in the newspapers, now they are forced to gun shows.

HERE IS THE KEY MISDIRECTION:

Banning private sales is GUN REGISTRATION. If all sales are through dealers, then eventually ALL guns are registered. Gun registration has been the Holy Grail of the gun banners because they need to know where they are to confiscate them or say you have the wrong kind of guns or too many guns, etc.

This is about gun registration. There is NO "gun show loophole"; everything works EXACTLY the same at a gun show as at any other location. There are dealer sales and private sales, anywhere, any time.

The proliferation of federal agencies with armed agents is one of the most worrisome aspects of the growth in government. Seniors are the GOP’s most reliable voting bloc in midterm years, turning out in higher numbers than Democratic base voters.
