Seat of Liberalism
American Spectator, by Jeff Walton

Is the Washington National Cathedral the spiritual center of the nation? In the mind of the liberal Episcopal cathedral’s new dean, it should be. Such an assertion would surprise many of America’s churchgoers, the vast majority of whom are not even Oldline Protestants, let alone Episcopalians. But since assuming leadership of the Cathedral in October, Dean Gary R. Hall has frequently spoken of the church’s role as being “at the center” of American public life.

Comments:
Until her death two years ago, my mother was a dedicated contributor to the Washington Cathedral. I´m glad she didn´t live to see how it has been desecrated.

Desecrated: perfect word for the Washington Cathedral as it is today. And, no, it never was, is, or will be "at the center" of American public life. It´s one far-left, highly politicized church... only one among many in this country... sadly.

Breathtaking architecture, but the place is lifeless as a tomb. It is the center of nothing.

Is that the same Episcopal Church that has seen its churches and membership flee due to its leaders´ PC agenda?

Typical DC arrogance. The Episcopal church (Catholic lite) has lost all relevance to 90% of American Christians, not sure it ever had much more than that to begin with.

I found myself wondering, who picks the deans? I also found myself wondering, who picked Senator Obama as the candidate for President all those miserable years ago? In both cases there was nothing in the way of accomplishments but a heap of ideology known only to a few.

That´s the one #3. The elites at the head of the church are mostly non-believers anyway. They see the church as a vehicle to do what they consider good.....that is to push their socialist and Marxist beliefs on the rest of us hicks.

It´s not just the Episcopal Church losing funds and members. We just had a huge break-up in my city of a large Presbyterian church. Most of the members got fed up with PCUSA and pulled the church out altogether. Quite a traumatic event but it shows how desperate traditional Christians are becoming.

Jefferson County, Colo. - A judge ruled on Friday that there is enough evidence for a teen to stand trial for murder and attempted abduction about an hour after prosecutors played a 911 tape where Austin Sigg admitted to killing 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway and to trying to kidnap a female jogger. The five-minute recording played during a Friday preliminary hearing began with the teen´s mother, Mindy Sigg, calling 911 on the night of Oct. 23, 2012. "I need you to come to my house, my son wants to turn himself in for Jessica Ridgeway's murder," the mother tells a dispatcher.

Only four doctors in the U.S. offer third-trimester abortions, knowing they risk their own lives every day to carry out such controversial procedures. These doctors are the subject of a documentary screened at the Sundance film festival last weekend, forty years after the legalization of abortion in the U.S. and four years after Dr Tiller. Physician George Tiller was a prominent practitioner of late-term abortions shot dead by an extremist in 2009. The documentary After Tiller is named for him and focuses on the few remaining doctors who perform abortions in the third trimester of a pregnancy. The Supreme Court granted states the right to limit abortions in the final three months of a pregnancy.

It was reported today the disgraced politician and Hunter get so frisky and loud during their bedtime trysts, they have received complaints about the noise. The former presidential candidate, 59, is said to spend most nights at the Chapel Hill home he recently bought for Rielle and a source told The National Enquirer: ´It has pretty much turned into his booze and sex romp hideaway.´

He then saw his father collect an aluminum bat from the garage, go to the bedroom and then came ´three whacks´. When it comes to becoming a physician, the academic rigors, years of schooling, and personal sacrifice common to the effort are well-known. This process is a sort of rite of passage, an intellectual marathon that only the best and brightest can complete. As such, medical schools should select candidates best-suited to excel throughout school and cultivate the skills that will allow them to practice in the best health care system in the world. The process by which these candidates are selected, however, may come as a shock.

When Joe Parker was a young, newly married public-school administrator who wanted to buy a home in 1974, he didn’t even think about leaving Prince George’s County, Maryland. It was where he and his parents had grown up. But when Parker first tried to bid on a house in a new development in Mitchellville, a small farming community that was sprouting ranch and split-level homes on old plantation lands, the real-estate agent demurred, claiming there were other buyers. In truth, the development had been built to lure white, middle-class families to the county

He said: “Impatient? Me? What a thing to suggest! Yes of course I am.” He added: “I’ll run out of time soon. I shall have snuffed it if I’m not careful.”

President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. But I´ve long felt we lack a solid theoretical underpinning for easily discussing these issues, and why precisely it is that

No one is more preoccupied these days with Hillary Clinton´s 2016 plans than the Beltway political class—not even the former presidential candidate herself. To hear some tell it, her decision will be dispositive for all other Democrats thinking of entering the race. Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank
