Tiger Wooods did this YEARS ago. He grew up in southern Californin and played briefly at Stanford but moved to a lower tax jurisdiction (Florida) when he turned pro. I expect Phil will do the same thing although a few star athletes do establish residency offshore as well.

It is not Phil Mickelson´s job to be political. His sponsors may even forbid it. The fact is that Mr. Mickelson is generous. He and his wife fund an educational foundation. With no fanfare he underwrote former NFL player Conrad Dobler´s daughter´s college education at an expensive school. No matter though, as there will always be resentful, naive individuals who demand that people like Phil Mickelson "pay their fair share."

When a person complains about others turning their back on our nation and sacrificing, I can almost guarantee I know who they voted for.

If you can afford an island by all means. Yes we don´t point out enough that by taking capital out of our country jobs aren´t only things lost.

If Mickelson wants to move to another state or out of the country, I say fine - going Galt is the only thing that will have any impact. Why should his money go to fund corrupt politicians and their pork boondoggles? There is plenty of money in the country to fund the necessary, yet our politicians have figured out a way to buy votes with the treasury.

I watched the History Channel´s shows yesterday about the history of the presidency. George Washington had an $2 million budget. That won´t even cover one of the Poseur´s vacations. (I know you have to adjust for inflation, but the point is still valid.)

Maybe it’s not just the money the Phil is upset about. Maybe being sneered at by his president as a greedy one percenter who doesn’t so his fair share has something to do with it. Perhaps while we’re on the subject of money and fair share, we could compare Phil’s and Obama’s charitable contributions. Phil is not a tax accountant, or he might know that if he earns it here, he is going to pay taxes on it here, but he can move out of California.
