| Professional golfer Phil Mickelson told reporters Sunday that he is considering “drastic changes” in response to state and federal income tax hikes — including possibly leaving the United States. “It’s been an interesting off-season. And I’m going to have to make some drastic changes. I’m not going to jump the gun and do it right away, but I will be making some drastic changes,” Mickelson said during a press conference following the Humana Challenge golf tournament in La Quinta, Calif.

We will be seeing more of these kinds of stories as long as demagogue Obama and his ´´Fairness´´ ilk promote higher tax rates over growth and actual revenue. In his economic ignorance and ideology, hellbent Obama would have us explore ever more punishing sections of the Laffer Curve.

One effective argument I´ve used with Obamanomics fans is the fact that if Obama´s big government, big benefits plan worked, then Greece should be a booming economic paradise today, or at minimum a pleasant viable place to live. I´ve yet to get get a reasonable response when I´ve made that point.

Honestly, if a few percentage points causes you to turn your back on our nation then don´t let the door hit you in the arse. Someone remind me, exactly what sacrifice has Phil made for our freedoms and this nation? Remember when he worked hard to support fiscal conservatism and against big-spending liberalism? I don´t either, but I could be wrong.

#6 should recall that taxes are the reason many, many athletes live in Florida. Mickelson is probably considering a move to that state or maybe Texas.
I have many liberal friends who will scream bloody murder about this; Phil is just saying out loud what many are thinking. Thoughts and words are still legal in this country...unless saying you are leaving a state because of oppressive taxes is now akin to shouting "Fire!" in a crowded theater.
Good for you, Phil. Do what is best for you and your family...don´t worry about California because they certainly are not worrying about you.

Good for Mickelson. I would not blame any rich person for taking his money and moving out of the country entirely. Why should they submit to being shorn like a bunch of sheep? Take your money away, don´t let Obama get it. Come back after the inevitable collapse and help us pick up the pieces.

Greedy Capitalist Pig! He should pay his fair share. IThe purist form of patriotism is for those with the money to give to those without the money. Our collectivism wellbeing is centered on the few supporting the many. How dare he consider his own greed above the needs of the middle class. Where is he going? The last bastion of open capitalism, Communist China?

Yeah, isn´t it true and obvious that Mickelson stole all his money from the little guys? I mean, none of his wealth has anything to do with him or his talent, right? His wealth started with government who built the roads.
And if anything #6, "his country" has turned its back on him. Remember it was Obama who said he has made to much money anyway. Do you really think he should work hard to earn that money just to have Obama take it for a vacation to Hawaii?

#6 Are you one of those people that think that people with a lot of money just have that money piled up in one big room? No, that money is actually out working, invested in companies that create jobs. Yes, in the process they make a profit (pardon me for using that nasty word). The article mentions that he pays Workmans Comp so he employs people as well. Jobs created by this filty rich man, golly gee.

The phrase Taxation Without Representation keeps running though my head and I’ll bet Phil feels the same way. How many of us voted to have our tax money bail out solar panel companies that went bankrupt but still managed to contribute to BO’s reelection campaign? Or wanted relief money legislation for Sandy victims to be laden with pork for Alaska and other non-storm related states? I’ll be interested in Phil’s decision and the discussions it spurs.

A read of the article tells us he is unhappy with Jerry Brown´s new tax on those earning millions. That he is could leave the state. The part about leavint the country is dropped in after his saying "or even".
The headline writer picked up the most sensational thing he could out of an otherwise blah article about an athlete´s contemplating moving from the place where he was born and raised to another place where taxes are not so high.

All proceeding according to the leftists plans. They drive away the productive (their only real competition), leaving themselves in control by default. Wherever Democrats/Leftists/Statists seize control the place turns into Cuba, North Korea, Detroit, Venezuela, etc. Some go quicker, some slower but they all go to the same place. That´s why the low info voter is key (gotta love that education establishment). Leftists are the political vultures, the bottom feeders, everything seems alright while there´s still a lot of meat left on the body politic carcass for them to feed on. The true enormity of the mistaken actions of giving them control only becomes more apparent when there are no more crown jewels left to sell. Take Venezuela for example, Chavez and his group have been stripping that country since 1999 and there´s still much more deprivation to be meted out to those poor people. Phil Mickelson is just another signpost. One other thing, it appears from the article that not only will his additional tax revenue be leaving, his much larger and longer term investment capital will be leaving as well. That´s a signpost of note too...

It is not Phil Mickelson´s job to be political. His sponsors may even forbid it. The fact is that Mr. Mickelson is generous. He and his wife fund an educational foundation. With no fanfare he underwrote former NFL player Conrad Dobler´s daughter´s college education at an expensive school. No matter though, as there will always be resentful, naive individuals who demand that people like Phil Mickelson "pay their fair share."

If Mickelson wants to move to another state or out of the country, I say fine - going Galt is the only thing that will have any impact. Why should his money go to fund corrupt politicians and their pork boondoggles? There is plenty of money in the country to fund the necessary, yet our politicians have figured out a way to buy votes with the treasury.
I watched the History Channel´s shows yesterday about the history of the presidency. George Washington had an $2 million budget. That won´t even cover one of the Poseur´s vacations. (I know you have to adjust for inflation, but the point is still valid.)

Maybe it’s not just the money the Phil is upset about. Maybe being sneered at by his president as a greedy one percenter who doesn’t so his fair share has something to do with it. Perhaps while we’re on the subject of money and fair share, we could compare Phil’s and Obama’s charitable contributions. Maybe the it is the whole direction and tone of this national conversation that Phil doesn’t appreciate. I’m with Phil.

Secretary of State John Kerry is worth some $200 million, give or take a yacht. So his decision to slap a 5% pay cut on himself in solidarity with government employees squeezed by sequestration won’t likely hurt him much. But he’s saving taxpayers another way, too — if unintentionally. And it’s downright troubling. How else is Kerry saving money? He’s failing to hire folks to fill key spots at his agency. Terrific. Think about it: With the North Koreans threatening nuclear strikes against America — and Kerry himself preparing to visit South Korea this week — wouldn’t it be a tad helpful

In March, the number of Americans who dropped out of the labor force increased by 663,000 which adds up to a record 90 million Americans who are no longer looking for employment. Zero Hedge reported: This was the biggest monthly increase in people dropping out of the labor force since January 2012, when the BLS did its census recast of the labor numbers. And even worse, the labor force participation rate plunged from an already abysmal 63.5% to 63.3% - the lowest since 1979!But at least it helped with the now painfully grotesque propaganda

After 69 years, Newt Gingrich is wealthy, a celebrity, and the owner of a tony home in Northern Virginia. His place in the history books, as the leader of the Republican revolution, has long been established. But the former House speaker isn’t ready to fade away. “I don’t rule it out,” he said on Thursday over breakfast, when asked about a future presidential run. He spoke excitedly about his company, Gingrich Productions, and his upcoming trip to South Carolina, where he won the Republican primary last year. Gingrich’s unflagging energy isn’t surprising.

Going with his parental gut, President Obama applauded in 2011 when Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius barred girls under 17 from obtaining the morning-after pill without a prescription. He pictured 10- and 11-year-olds buying pregnancy prevention medicine as easily as bubble gum and drew a line. “As the father of two daughters, it makes sense to apply some common sense,” the President said. Now, a Brooklyn federal judge has ruled that moms and dads — including the ones in the White House — are owed no legal say over whether very young daughters can pop a hormonal contraceptive

It would take superspin powers to portray the March jobs report as anything other than a huge step in the wrong direction. The US economy added just 88,000 jobs last month, 95,000 in the private sector as public payrolls fell by 7,000. The official unemployment rate ticked down a tenth of a point to 7.6%. 1. That is a paltry number of jobs, more or less matching assumed labor force growth per month. So the economy must add at least that many jobs just to keep the labor market at current depressed levels.

James Lohr was taken into custody early Friday, said El Paso County sheriff´s spokesman Jeff Kramer. Lohr was wanted for questioning in the killing of Colorado Corrections Director Tom Clements. It´s unclear if Lohr has been charged. Authorities believe Lohr was in contact with gang associate Evan Ebel days before the slayings of Clements and pizza delivery man Nate Leon.

Senator Marco Rubio is the man of the hour. He has deftly positioned himself as the indispensable figure in this year’s immigration debate. His participation has given the Gang of Eight approach to amnesty some insulation from grassroots conservative criticism, at least for a time. Liberals in Congress understand that his imprimatur is essential to get Republican votes for the amnesty. But Rubio’s position as a bridge between the parties on immigration means he faces conflicting demands. He wants to ride success on immigration to the 2016 presidential nomination but has also made hard commitments to conservatives

Last week, the Society of Actuaries warned about sticker shock ahead for individuals and families buying health insurance. How did the White House respond? In its usual Orwellian fashion, saying “healthcare costs are falling thanks to the reform law.” Falling is correct only if you’re standing on your head. President Obama repeatedly promised that insurance exchanges will save families up to $2,300 a year. He couldn’t possibly have believed it. From day one, it was obvious the law would push up premiums. That’s because it requires insurers to cover services

The rites of spring are: daylight savings time... cherry blossoms and daffodils… and another North Korean military crisis. Every year, come spring, the North Korean people run low on their stocks of food, fuel and fear. Their leaders manage the situation by manufacturing a crisis. They threaten war, their people forget about hardships to rally round the flag, and the world trembles. Everyone agrees to consultations, the North Koreans get assistance, and the crisis is averted….until the same time next year. The annual North Korean display of braggadocio and brinksmanship is so predictable you can practically set your iCalendar to auto-renew.

White House officials are now openly conceding that President Obama´s gun control package could die on Capitol Hill, a development analysts said would cast a pall over the president´s second-term agenda and weaken his leverage with Republicans. The president´s trek to Denver on Wednesday was his latest attempt to regain momentum on the issue of gun violence, on which Obama has so far failed to close a deal despite a substantial investment of political capital. "There doesn´t have to be a conflict between protecting our citizens and protecting our Second Amendment rights," Obama said,

The unemployment rate, because of a terrible statistic, is down to 7.6%. The number of people in this country who are not working is shameful. Ninety million Americans are no longer in the workforce. Ninety million. People not in the labor force grew by 663,000, and now 90 million. That´s the labor force participation rate. This is 1979 levels.

President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. But I´ve long felt we lack a solid theoretical underpinning for easily discussing these issues, and why precisely it is that

No one is more preoccupied these days with Hillary Clinton´s 2016 plans than the Beltway political class—not even the former presidential candidate herself. To hear some tell it, her decision will be dispositive for all other Democrats thinking of entering the race. And pundits and reporters aren´t the only ones positing the "The Hillary Factor": No less than the House Democratic whip, Steny Hoyer, told BuzzFeed, “I don´t know that anybody would run against Hillary…. If she runs, she clears the field.” It´s an understandable conclusion, given Clinton´s stature in the Democratic Party and her 70 percent

I hope all will look at a lifetime of service over some poorly chosen words.” Carson will remain as commencement speaker at Johns Hopkins,

Michelle Obama has admitted that she is already tired of the bangs she first sported in January. The First Lady said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight: ´Bangs are a day-by-day proposition. They´re starting to grow out, get a little irritating.´ Still, she hasn´t let her hairdo woes get her down. ´It´s okay,´ she said after her initial complaint. ´We´ll be good.´ The first indication that her hairstyle was becoming a burden came about last weekend, when Malia, 14, was spotted adjusting her mother´s hair during the White House Easter Egg Roll.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton explained to the Women in the World summit in New York today that the clock is turning back for women in America. Clinton praised her own mother for helping empower her to success and marveled at the opportunities that her own daughter Chelsea has pursued. But Clinton warned that there is still so much to do to promote women´s rights in America. "As I look at all these young women that I am privileged to work with, or know through Chelsea, and its hard to imagine turning the clock on them," Clinton said.

The Obama White House is scrambling to blame Friday’s abysmal March jobs numbers on the sequester’s trimming of the rate of growth in federal budgets that have yet to fully commence. After the Labor Department announced that a mass exodus of 663,000 workers left the U.S. workforce last month and that job creation fell 112,000 jobs short of projections, Obama’s top economic adviser Alan B. Krueger, took to the White House blog to blame the sequester: It is important to bear in mind that the March household and payroll surveys are the first monthly surveys to look

Get ready for the last straw. First, though, I´d like to suggest that anyone reading this column in a local newspaper or news site pat the editor on the back for publishing what in our neo-medieval world of fear amounts to a forbidden column. Yup, I am about to say something about the Great Barack Obama Identity/Eligibility Scandal again. I know that this is one rich and urgent topic that doesn´t see the light of day in certain so-called news outlets -- and I say that from the experience of watching my own syndicated columns

SANFORD - Trayvon Martin´s parents have settled a wrongful death claim for an amount believed to be more than $1 million against the homeowners association of the Sanford subdivision where their teenage son was killed. Beyonce and Jay-Z celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary in Cuba this week. The couple, who married on April 4, 2008, took in the sights of Old Havana, visited a school, dined on a rooftop terrace and strolled the fan-filled streets in their island best.(snip).The power couple declined to answer journalists´ questions about their visit to the island nation, but some outlets are reporting that the moguls are there as tourists, though that would be illegal because of the half-century embargo the U.S. has on the Communist country. However, the Miami Herald said Washington has issued special licenses for

On Friday, Sean Hannity brought Pat Smith, mother of the late Sean Smith, on his radio program. The 34-year-old information management officer was one of four Americans murdered in the Benghazi embassy attack on September 11, 2012. In the chilling interview, a distraught Ms. Smith, in tears, pleaded for answers and spoke of the efforts to silence her. Ms. Smith first relayed how her son, prior to the attack, requested additional security in advance and warned the State Department: He did tell them, ahead of time, he typed it into his little typewriter over there,
