Forty years after the legalization of abortion in the United States, just four doctors offer controversial late-term procedures, and are the subject of a documentary at the Sundance film festival. "After Tiller," named for physician George Tiller, a prominent practitioner of late-term abortions shot dead by an extremist in 2009, focuses on the few remaining doctors who perform abortions in the third trimester of a pregnancy. The Supreme Court legalized abortion exactly 40 years ago -- on January 22, 1973 -- but granted states the right to limit abortions in the final three months of a pregnancy.
Comments: A movie celebrating genocide...the murder of 50million babies in 40 years...
With reference to Clarice Feldman´s article today advising, no, begging, the RNC and Conservatives to seize the language in framing an issue:
Protectors of the Second Amendment are referred to as "gun lovers" to make them sound menacing. Turn about: Supporters of abortion on demand must be referred to as "abortion lovers". Get that term into the argument and see what happens. /SP/
Look up "Kermit Gosnell" and see how things have gone in this industry before, during and after Tiller. There were two reasons for the msm to ignore this horror story: Dr. Gosnell is a "minority" and his clinic puts the lie to guarantees of safe, hygenic and professional abortions.
"We are thrilled. We would cheerfully train more doctors."
Absolute evil. They are SO excited about murdering infants with a knife, and getting others to join them. Regardless of whether you think life begins at conception, third trimester babies survive prematurely now. So clearly, you are murdering infants, not embryos, not some "unborn" non-entity.
The article starts with the statement that "physician" Tiller was shot dead by an "extremist". The same man, should he stop a guy using the same sharp instruments to murder premature newborns in a nursery, would be called a hero. So tell me "Agence France-Presse" what exactly is the difference? No answer?
I´ll go out on a limb. Scott Roeder, Tiller´s killer, apparently had mental issues, and suffered problems. However, he stated that he killed Tiller because infant´s lives were in immediate danger.
As an acquaintence said , if death comes when the heart stops beating, then life begins when the heart starts beating, which is only days after conception. There is life at conception as well because if there wasn´t, then the fertilization would never take place.
Does this film show how nasty most abortion clinics are? I wouldn´t take a dog to the ones I´ve seen. They are dingy and dirty looking. They are usually located in ethnic neighborhoods. I´m sure this documentary doesn´t mention Kermit Gosnell´s collection of baby feet in jars, or the biohazard bags stacked on top of each other, leaking.
If these brave doctors want a voice, I want them to appear on national television and describe what they do.
Nice try, frog. First, there are at least 30 million fewer tax payers in the US today because they were aborted 20-40 years ago. Second, every one of those children who were aborted would have been adopted. How do I know this? I´m and adoptive mother. The year we adopted our daughter ( 1990 ) there were 50,000 adoptions in the US. for every couple who were lucky enough to get one of those children, there were 250 couples who could not get a child. Do the math.
How about calling them abortion loving baby killers? Sounds good to me.
I read where in the Bible that God says it is better to have a millstone around your neck and drown in the sea than face His punishment for hurting little ones. My mind can´t begin to wrap around that kind of anger.
Once upon a time I thought children who were not aborted would be given up for adoption. Then I worked with young pregnant women, while abortion was considered distasteful, adoption was considered totally, unforgivably immoral. I admire the decision to give a child up for adoption instead of abortion, but I know in the real world that would not happen very often. There would simply be more poorly parented children needing public services, and as is so often pointed out, they would not be paying income taxes.
Tiller got what he deserved. He should have been in jail for his breaking of the law. But he was protected by Governor Kathleen Sebelius and another liberal Democrat Attorney General Paul Morrison. I am glad that Tiller is dead - we call that Frontier Justice here in Kansas.
Just like pedophiles gravitate towards careers involving children, murderers and sadists gravitate towards this line of work call abortion. After med school and GYN specializaition, it´s abortion heaven. Imagine killing a newborn while it is sanctioned by the state. Next is euthanesia. You know these people are having a ball in the Netherlands.
hey frog abortion is killing of innocent life a child, and every nation in history that has killed of their young (infanticide) have come to an abrupt end. Amazing that people got so upset over 20 young children by a crazed young man, but don´t say one word about the killing of 500,000 children every year by abortion and to date over 50 million young lives, I wonder which one of them had the cure for cancer, the genius to make cars more fuel efficient, or be the one who could preach from his heart to turn a nation back to God. Just saying
What has always appalled me about Tiller is that he would regularly receive communion at his ELCA church. They knew what he did for a living and offered him communion? That is disgusting.
With regard to Gosnell, I read the full GJ report. I was staggered. There was a 15 year old girl helping with abortions. One baby who was born alive was played with by an assistant who then finished by slitting the baby´s throat. This happens in America. I can hardly believe what we´ve become as a nation. It´s so foul - environmentalists are always worried about pollution - what of the pollution of the soul? What is a humanist´s remedy for that?
#32, I know you are appalled, as we all are, that so many women think abortion is "distasteful" OK but placing the child for adoption is unforgivably "immoral."
And yet, this is an irrational view. It is very much like preferring husband- or wife--murder to divorce.
We can change these attitudes. There should be pervasive artistic portrayals of people valuable to the whole human race --- from Jesus Christ to Johann Sebastian Bach, to Steve Jobs! --- who were adopted; and sensitive support for the birth-mothers who made this spiritually sensitive decision.
The most beautiful thing is to honor and protect your child´s life, even if it means placing him tenderly in someone else´s loving arms.
We don´t know that late term abortions only make up one percent because that is a figure that is supplied to us only by the abortion industry which is notoriously secretive and deceptive. Plus they have a history of perjury in congressional hearings about such matters as was revealed in a case about 15 years ago when the guy that testified admitted later that he lied lied lied. He, of course, suffered no punishment for his lies.
A sex tape that Monica Lewinsky recorded for Bill Clinton at the height of their scandalous affair has leaked, during which the former White House intern is heard planning a secret sexual rendezvous with the president and declaring she is “too cute and adorable” to be ignored. On the audio tape obtained by The National Enquirer, Lewinsky at one point tries to seduce the commander in chief: “I could take my clothes off and start… well… I know you wouldn’t enjoy that? I hope to see you later and I hope you will follow my script and do what
Nigella Lawson and Charles Saatchi will divorce tomorrow - just weeks after the multi-millionaire was pictured choking his estranged wife. Nigella, 53, is the applicant in the case at London´s High Court to be heard before District Judge Aitken, MailOnline can reveal. The ´quickie divorce´ will be heard at 10.30am - and means the couple´s 10-year-marriage could be over in a matter of minutes. The federal government has responded with near adequate conviction, the pressure by Western countries to impose the perverted culture of legalising homosexual lifestyles in Nigeria. The two arms of the National Assembly have taken uncompromising stands, making a law prescribing a fourteen-year jail term for people caught, tried and sentenced for practising homosexual acts in Nigeria. Our President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, has also made it clear that he would align with the feelings of the Nigerian people and its supreme legislature in ensuring that the law is implemented. The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has warned that new oil discoveries across various countries pose threats to the nation´s revenue. (Snip) “US Energy Information Agency (EIA) forecasts the US oil imports to 6mbpd, roughly a third of what it uses, by 2014 as the country moves closer to oil dependence by 2035,” he said. In his words, “Over the fifteen-month period to July 2012, US crude oil imports from Nigeria dropped to about 333,000 bpd from over 1.1mbpd, displacing West African oil from the US market. This will probably put downward pressure on price
Members of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), excluding Iran, recorded about $982 billion, or five per cent increase in net oil export revenue in 2012, according to recent estimates of the United States Energy Information Administration (EIA). The Western energy watchdog noted that the amount was estimated to be the largest level over the 1975—2012 period. In its newly-released revenue fact sheet, the EIA estimated that Saudi Arabia earned the largest share of these earnings, $311 billion in 2012, or approximately 32 per cent of total OPEC revenues. OPEC members are Nigeria, Algeria, Angola, Ecuador, Iran,
House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA), a proponent of tenets of the “Dream Act” for young illegal immigrants spoke before attendees at the Jewish Center of Jackson Heights in Queens, New York on Saturday. Cantor and Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL) were the only two Republicans at the event, which was organized by the Faith & Politics Institute. The stop at the temple was part of a bipartisan tour of New York City over the weekend in which members of Congress supporting comprehensive immigration reform participated. Other lawmakers at the Jewish Center in Jackson Heights were Reps. Joe Crowley (D-NY), Carolyn
Former Rep. Lindy Boggs, who filled her husband´s seat in the House of Representatives after his plane disappeared and went on to serve 18 years as a tireless advocate for women and minorities, died today at the age of 97. "She was remarkable in every way," ABC´s Cokie Roberts, one of Boggs´s three children, said. "She was able to accomplish a great deal for a great many people around the country and around the world, but doing it in an always gracious, always pleasant way that would serve as a great lesson for folks of today
Former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn is to face trial on pimping charges, French prosecutors say. Investigating magistrates have decided he should be tried in connection with an alleged prostitution ring at a hotel in Lille. The former presidential hopeful has admitted attending sex parties there, but says he did not know that some of the women were paid prostitutes. The case is the last of the sex-related allegations faced by Mr Strauss-Kahn. A series of lurid claims have been made about the high profile French figure since he was arrested in New York in May 2011 after a hotel maid
Five Russians and a Ukrainian face federal criminal charges of hacking into the computers of major payment processors, retailers and financial institutions, stealing more than 160 million credit card numbers and causing hundreds of millions of dollars in losses. It is the largest such scheme ever prosecuted in the United States, federal authorities said in unsealing indictments Thursday in Newark, N.J., and Manhattan. Victimized firms ranged from 7-Eleven, Wet Seal and JetBlue to Visa Jordan, Diners Singapore and the Nasdaq stock market, authorities said. Three corporate victims alone lost more than $300 million, and the alleged scheme caused
Los Angeles — Thanks to his recent wins at both The Open Championship and the Scottish Open, Phil Mickelson pocketed more than $2.16 million in just two weeks. The world’s top golfer —who came under fire earlier this year when he complained about his supposed 60 percent tax rate as a California resident — is taking another hit on his recent earnings. According to Forbes, Mickelson has been subjected to the United Kingdom’s 45 percent tax rate for those who make more than £150,000 a year. In addition, the magazine reports, he will be taxed on a portion
Washington — President Barack Obama’s choice to be the No. 2 official at the Homeland Security Department is under investigation for his role in helping a company secure an international investor visa for a Chinese executive, the Associated Press has learned. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Alejandro Mayorkas, who has been nominated to be the department’s No. 2 leader, was named by the DHS Inspector General’s Office as a target in an ongoing investigation about the foreign investor program run by USCIS. According to an email sent to lawmakers Monday evening, the IG’s office initially starting investigating
Foreign policy achievements have thus far stood out for their absence during President Obama´s tenure. The engagement with Iran, the "reset" of relations with Russia, the intermediation in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the protestations against cyber-attacks coming from China against U.S. firms, the pressures on North Korea and the "red line" warnings to the Syrian regime over chemical weapons, have all failed to advance peace or democracy in the world or to strengthen the American hand in international relations. U.S. foreign policy initiatives have, in no small measure, been subordinated to the
Conservative bloggers went wild Monday when they got wind of the Congressional Black Caucus’ suggestion that President Obama pick Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee of Houston for the post of Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. Rich Cooper, avid blogger for Security Debrief, responded to the news of the Jackson Lee recommendation in a post by saying, “Apparently, it is not a joke. For reasons that baffle any sense of reality, it is a serious gesture on the part of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) to encourage President Obama to nominate Rep. Jackson Lee
There have been days since her son Ezekiel was born 11 months ago that Los Angeles mom Beth Capper has gone without food to keep up her supply. One friend was arrested for stealing some. It´s not drugs or alcohol or even baby formula that has put her in such a bind. It´s diapers. "There´s no way around buying them," said Capper, a 41-year-old single mother who doesn´t work because of a disability. Across the country, mothers like Capper are facing the same predicament. According to a report published Monday in the
America is in great shape energy-wise. We have more gas and oil reserves than ever before. Indeed, the United States could shortly become the world’s largest exporter of coal. Our cheaper power rates may bring energy-intensive industry back from Europe and Asia. If America’s small colleges are nearly broke and our public schools failing, nonetheless our blue-chip universities’ math, science, and engineering departments, and professional schools, remain the best in the world. It is a small Alaskan village whose inhabitants have relied on the sea for countless generations. But within a decade, it is expected that the ocean which the village of Kivalina has so relied on will completely destroy it--creating America´s first climate change refugees. Temperatures in the Arctic region of Alaska are warming twice as fast as the rest of the U.S, causing ice to retreat, sea levels to rise and coastal erosion to increase. Gotta figure her lead would be even bigger without Joe Miller in the field here. Her nomination for the taking? Alaska should be a top tier pick up opportunity for Senate Republicans next year…but their top choice of a candidate is Sarah Palin. 36% of GOP primary voters in the state say they’d like Palin to be their standard bearer against Mark Begich to 26% for Mead Treadwell, 15% for Dan Sullivan, and 12% for Joe Miller.
In an interview on National Public Radio (NPR), House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said her new agenda for women will give mothers access to day care so they can “earn without carrying the burden of child care.” During the interview, aired on Weekend Edition Sunday, Pelosi spoke about her newly announced agenda, which is on her website, and is titled, “When Women Succeed, America Succeeds: An Economic Agenda for Women and Families,” a plan that includes universal pre-school and access to day care for working women, and an increase in the minimum wage.
Many low-income families receive government assistance to help them purchase food and housing. Diapers are another story, a new study suggests. In what they are calling the first peer-reviewed study to quantify diaper need, Yale University researchers have found nearly a third of mothers cannot afford to purchase their infants diapers, raising health risks for not only babies but for moms who become stressed over the finances. "Notably absent from the antipoverty efforts targeting families is an essential staple for the health of children, diapers," wrote the researchers, led by Dr. Megan Smith,
President Obama has been rolling up his sleeves campaigning across the country delivering a surreal stump speech message supposedly aimed at the middle class: big government works, Obamacare is manna from heaven, the wave of recent scandals are “phony” figments of the imagination, and all economic problems are the fault of the Republicans. Conveniently, he leaves out the bankruptcy of Detroit, a city run by his own party for more than half a century. His message is so stale and unconvincing, that even The New York Times and Washington Post have noticed. Both papers, usually loyal to Obama, remarked that
Mideast: The sequester has "cost jobs," says President Obama, and "gutted investments in education and science and medical research." But somehow he´s earmarked $500 million for Hamas terrorists. Circumventing Congress and with no fanfare, President Obama last week issued an executive order enabling him to send an additional $500 million directly to the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank — much of which you can bet will wind up going to the Iranian-backed Hamas terrorist organization. According to Obama, "it is important to the national security interests of the United States to waive the provisions of" Congress´ legislative restrictions "in
The mother of Trayvon Martin said Monday that she believed Florida’s Stand Your Ground law played a role in her son’s shooting death, but she wasn’t ready to support a boycott of the state for not changing the self-defense law. “The thing about this law is I just think it assisted the person who killed my son to get away with murder,” Sybrina Fulton, the mother of the 17-year-old from Miami Gardens, said at a National Bar Association event in Miami Beach. “I think we have to change these laws so people don’t get
A group of experts advising the nation’s premier cancer research institution has recommended sweeping changes in the approach to cancer detection and treatment, including changes in the very definition of cancer and eliminating the word entirely from some common diagnoses. Karl Rove and more than one hundred Republican donors sent a letter to Republican members of Congress on Tuesday, urging them to pass a comprehensive immigration reform bill that would include, among other provisions, granting "legal status" to illegal aliens who meet certain criteria. Anticipating that lawmakers will face resistance to the bill when they go home for the August recess, the letter marks the escalation of a campaign in which Republican leaders and donors are pressuring House Republicans to act on an immigration reform bill.
