A New Anti-Terror Front?
Yes, the Government Thinks

National Review Online, by John Fund

The world is beset by terrorists — witness the American hostages taken in Algeria this week — but portions of our federal government continue to obsess about alleged home-grown threats from the “far right.” The Combating Terrorism Center, which is based at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, has issued a new report on its website entitled “Challengers from the Sidelines: Understanding America’s Violent Far-Right.” Normally, the center’s activities are focused on al-Qaeda and other violent Islamic groups seeking to topple governments around the world. But

Liberals (aka Marxists, socialists, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, etc.) are mentally ill, most terminally, and should be excluded from the political process.

Deport them all to Cuba, where they want to be anyway, to get the treatment they deserve.

Time for some aggressive class action lawsuit on behalf of conservatives & Tea Partiers. Returning military from combat assignments should join too, as Big Sis is trying to get them classified as mentally damaged... and not fit for a gun license.

It´s also why he was allowed to spew Islamist hatred wherever he was assigned, without ever getting written up. Comrads in high places.

From the second source in #19, a sample of Perliger´s commission´s report in which militias and the patriot movement are relabeled the "Anti-Federalist Movement".

The important point is that Perliger has managed, by describing these "violent right-wing extremists" as "anti-federalist", to expand, elide and conflate these perceived enemies and, I´m sure, to present to the cadets at West Point the specter of "constitutionalist terrorists."

Democrats Go Searching for White Guys

The New York Times reports on a new effort by Democrats to recruit working-class white men. Since this is a group that turns out better in midterm elections than the women, minorities and college kids in the Obama base, the party is desperate to win over more white guys in this fall´s congressional contests. But the Times says Democrats are discouraged to find that "men´s attitudes shaped over generations — through debates over civil rights, anti-Communism, Vietnam, feminism, gun control and dislocations from lost manufacturing jobs and stagnant wages in a global economy — are not easily altered." Matthew McConaughey completed his journey from rom-com washout to Oscar winner Sunday night. And he made sure to acknowledge God´s role in that trek during his Best Actor acceptance speech for the film Dallas Buyers Club. "First off, I want to thank God because that´s who I look up to," the new Oscar winner said. The assembled actors, directors and industry heavy hitters grew rather quiet, unsure how to react to his overt religious praise. McConaughey, who dropped an alarming amount of weight to play a man suffering from AIDS, reverted to his aw-shucks persona from there. He thanked his

Prominent Republicans see no evidence that their party’s electoral successes have advanced the cause of limited government and moral governance. “Today, our party’s leaders act like thermometers measuring the temperature of the electorate. We need to be the thermostats and set the temperature,” said Rob McCoy, pastor of Calvary Chapel, a few minutes’ drive from the Reagan presidential library in Simi Valley, Calif. For Republicans like Mr. McCoy, who is running for a state Assembly seat, the national party has racked up decades of compromises that have led to relentless government expansion, ever-increasing spending growth, continually mounting national debt and

As a direct counter to President Obama’s recent emphasis on the gap between rich and poor, the upcoming House Republican budget will focus on welfare reform and recommend a sweeping overhaul of social programs, including Head Start and Medicaid. The push, led by Rep. Paul Ryan, returns the GOP’s attention to a policy front that animated the party in the 1990s and signals Republicans’ desire to expand their pitch to voters ahead of this year’s midterm elections. This new effort comes after the party spent months fixated on combating the federal health-care law and engaged in intraparty squabbles over fiscal

FOR FIVE YEARS, President Obama has led a foreign policy based more on how he thinks the world should operate than on reality. It was a world in which “the tide of war is receding” and the United States could, without much risk, radically reduce the size of its armed forces. Other leaders, in this vision, would behave rationally and in the interest of their people and the world. Invasions, brute force, great-power games and shifting alliances — these were things of the past. Secretary of State John F. Kerry displayed this mindset on ABC’s “This Week” Sunday when he

It’s well known that Bush and Putin got on well at first. But when the relationship soured, Bush became exasperated by his talks with the Russian bully. Putin seemed to delight in debating Bush. Russian President Vladimir Putin moved to officially deploy Russian troops in Ukraine Saturday, defying warnings not to intervene issued a day earlier by his U.S. and other western counterparts. Though a major escalation in the openness of Russia´s commitment, Saturday´s move comes as Russian troops and their local allies have already largely taken control of Crimea, a restive province of Ukraine that belonged to Russia until 1954 and remains predominantly pro-Russian. Heavily armed troops, many from Russia´s Black Sea Fleet, which is based in the Crimean port of Sevastopol, surrounded key facilities across the region

The goal of the president’s newest racially divisive effort, “My Brother’s Keeper,” is to set black and Latino male youth apart from white male youth. It centers on recruiting businesses and foundations to donate $200 million over five years towards programs that will benefit young males of color. Apparently, much like Barack Obama’s real brothers, needy boys with little or ‘no color,’ as well women and girls of any color, will have to tough it out on their own. In the Bible Cain responded to God’s question concerning the whereabouts of the brother he had just murdered with “Am I my brother’s keeper?”

In the ceremonies, the Russian Olympic Committee representative called the games the greatest ever and said the world got to see “the New Face of Russia.” This week we learned the new face of Russia looks quite a bit like the old face of Russia – paranoid, belligerent and skillful in exploiting moments of American weakness. WASHINGTON—Police arrested hundreds of people who strapped themselves to the White House fence on Sunday to protest the proposed Keystone XL oil pipeline. The protesters were mostly college students who participated in a peaceful march that began at Georgetown University and ended outside the White House. They chanted "climate justice now" and carried signs with slogans such as "don´t tarnish the earth" in an effort to persuade President Barack Obama to reject the pipeline. They say it will worsen global warming. Protesters were passionate but quite orderly. Police were waiting for them with buses and vans to speed the process.

President Obama´s proclaimed strategy to "bypass Congress" — most conspicuously his broad rewriting of the Affordable Care Act — has given unusual prominence to a fairly arcane legal doctrine: standing. Standing is what is preventing a potential blizzard of litigation against the president´s unilateral decrees, and ironically, it´s a doctrine liberal jurists have long decried. To challenge the government in federal court, it isn´t enough to simply believe that the government´s conduct is illegal or even unconstitutional. Federal courts can hear only specific disputes about the law as applied to particular people. To be heard in court, a person must have
