Obama eyes a legacy:
´You can make it if you try´

Associated Press, by Ben Feller

WASHINGTON -- Presidential terms are measured by sweeping laws and stirring events, but legacies are about enduring ideas. The one Barack Obama has in mind will drive most everything he tries to do in the next four years: assuring that America is a place where anyone can make it. There is no moonshot here, no call to end tyranny in our time. What Obama wants written in the first paragraph of history is that he helped deliver a better life for the people struggling in the richest nation on earth.

Comment 2 nails it - we have a president (and Justice Dept) that circumvent law with impunity.

This will be Obama´s legacy - ´He got away with it´.

Obama makes Slick Willie look downright angelic.

Oh please no! I remember the last 4 years of Horn Dog´s term. All we heard about from the sycophant mainstream media was Horn Dog´s legacy this and Horn Dog´s legacy that.

Please, please not again.

Never in history has there been a group of people as far in over their heads as the members of the mainstream media.

~~Even discussing one´s legacy can be politically tricky for any White House.

The word itself can convey that the president is too focused on his place in history, or too close to nearing dreaded lame-duck status.
~~

´Legacy´.....have been hearing it over and over and over....must be the word of the day.

Yes, a better life for these people who choose not to work. They will always have their 0bama phones, Food Stamps, EBT cards where they can get cash at the local strip club, and each and every one of them has many tattoos and body piercings. They have always gotten free health care, but now 0bama has made it even easier for them to get their healthcare any time they want. They have many, many babies with all the programs to feed their babies, taxis to take them to the doctor, and free housing that is heated and cooled with nearly free heat and air conditioning. Yes, America, isn´t this grand?

Everybody resenting everyone else for it.

Re: "Almost forgotten, by now, is the symbolism of Obama´s presidency itself. He was the first black man to win the office"

Curious statement from DNC historian Brinkley. Almost every criticism of Obama has been met by calling critic a racist. Or, claiming that charges of massive debt, expensive vacations or cronyism were never leveled against a white president, just a black. Or, that almost 100% of blacks voted for Obama . Finally, how is a man with a white mother consistently referred to as black?

Obama´s legacy will be that he impoverished blacks, whites and browns more than any president before him.

I do think that Obama is competing with Robert Mugabe, President of Zimbabwe for a legacy of destroying the economy, redistribution of resources from the white producers to the looters, and effectively lowering the standard of living for the country of which he holds the title "President". I think Obama can achieve that legacy.

Not as long as he is in charge. It is those that don´t try that will make it under Zippy. And he certainly didn´t have to try hard. In four years we will look like South Africa.

As a side note. I read a prayer request this week that prayed for the wealthy in this country to give their money to the poor. See how the dumbed down are fully indoctrinated and could arrive on your doorstep to take what you have ?

Peter Beilenson dreamed of bright, affordable health-care centers in working-class neighborhoods, staffed with doctors paid a flat salary — rather than per patient — and lifestyle coaches encouraging healthier living. Tiny waiting rooms would reinforce the message that all patients would be seen quickly. A human would always answer the phone. Specialists could immediately be consulted by videoconference. And there would be free yoga. Such common-sense approaches, Beilenson believes, will eventually drive down health-care costs. Buried in President Obama’s newly enacted Affordable Care Act, he found a way to test that theory. But because of hard-to-resolve problems with Maryland’s new

Many of the headlines after day two of the Conservative Political Action Conference were about Rick Perry’s well-received speech, in which he harped on what he deemed the “two Americas”: red-state America and blue-state America. But as much as the Texas governor’s morning address impressed the crowd, it was the second event in which he participated Friday that will be far more important if the Republican Party is serious about winning more swing voters in 2016. Perry appeared alongside several other conservatives, including Grover Norquist, on a panel about criminal justice reform and how those reforms are being pushed by

Paul Ryan, addressing the Conservative Political Action Conference this week, disputed the notion that “the Republican Party is in this big, massive civil war.” “I don’t see this great divide in our party,” the GOP’s 2012 vice presidential nominee said. Ryan had a point. The notion of “civil war,” often used to describe the clash between the Republican establishment and the tea party, implies a conflict with identifiable sides. In reality, the GOP condition is more of a free-for-all. The annual CPAC gathering, conservatism’s trade show, provides a snapshot of the anarchy: The group’s much-celebrated straw poll of presidential candidates

BEIRUT — Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is taking advantage of the rift between Russia and the United States over Ukraine to press ahead with plans to crush the rebellion against his rule and secure his reelection for another seven-year term, unencumbered by pressure to compromise with his opponents. The collapse last month of peace talks in Geneva, jointly sponsored by Russia and the United States, had already eroded the slim prospects that a negotiated settlement to the Syrian war might be possible. With backers of the peace process now at odds over the outcome of the popular uprising in Ukraine,

Congressional Republicans immediately rejected the request for fiscal 2015, saying that the proposal would bust limits on agency spending that the White House endorsed in December. One of the most seismic changes in American politics over the last decade has been the emergence of a sharp generational split among the electorate. The Pew Research Institute has dominated the field of exploring the ideological cleavages among different generations.
