Who is Ronaiah Tuiasosopo, the man
allegedly behind Lennay Kekua, Manti
Te´o´s non-existent dead girlfriend?
(Updated)

Deseret News [Salt Lake City, UT], by Landon Hemsley

Original Article

Posted By:earlybird, 1/19/2013 8:50:39 AM

A Deadspin.com report earlier this week asserted that Lennay Kekua, the alleged dead girlfriend of Notre Dame football star Manti Te´o, was a figment of someone´s imagination, and the name that Deadspin proposed as the mastermind behind the Kekua persona is Ronaiah Tuiasosopo.(Snip)The authors of the original Deadspin report assert that Tuaisosopo and Te´o know each other, a fact confirmed by Manti Te´o´s uncle, Alema Te´o. Alema Te´o runs the All-Poly football camp, a high school football camp in Salt Lake City, and a similar camp run in American Samoa on behalf of Troy Polamalu,

Then Lance Armstrong lied to Oprah?

I find this story fascinating. I just do not understand it at all and need to know more so that it can make sense to me. After that, perhaps I will be bored with it. I would love to see someone truly get to the bottom of this story. Then perhaps journalists will get around to uncovering our President and his girlfriend who was a compilation.

#8 is right. The sad part is that those who doubt a story are told to shut up. Once an exotic story is in the public domain, the LIVs don´t want the story to be a lie, so they attack those who insist on having facts. Those who insist on more facts are ridiculed into silence by giving them disparaging names, such as "birthers" Unfortunately, it works.

#1 that name, thanks to our fellow Ldotter who coined it, will become part of the Ldott lexicon - much like PIAPS.

It´s funny how many comments this and the Lance Armstrong story get by folks bemoaning the low info nature of our honey boo boo culture, claiming they don´t care about such non-stories.

Yet they sit here with the rest of us in front of a screen drinking coffee in their jammies, spending precious time typing on a Saturday morning blogging with people they don´t know about things they can´t control and claiming they don´t care when they could be out there solving the myriad mysteries of the universe instead.

Today´s around-the-clock media coverage has too much time to fill. Therefore they grab on to non-stories like Te´o. Or they fill the hours with MSNBC-like dribble.

Obama MyRA proposal unlikely
to boost retirement savings
Los Angeles Times, by Walter Hamilton    Original Article

President Obama´s plan to tackle the U.S. retirement crisis is ambitious and well-intentioned but unlikely to have much of an effect, experts say. In his State of the Union address, Obama proposed a new type of retirement account for the 4 in 10 Americans who don´t have access to 401(k) plans at their jobs. The accounts, dubbed MyRA, would offer guaranteed investment returns, no fees and tax-free profits. But Obama´s proposal rests on a pair of uncertain assumptions: that employers would be willing to offer the accounts and that financially stretched low-income workers would agree to participate in them.

WASHINGTON — Representative Henry A. Waxman of California, a diminutive Democratic giant whose 40 years in the House produced some of the most important legislation of the era, will announce on Thursday that he is retiring at the end of the year. Mr. Waxman, 74, joins the growing list of House members who are calling it quits, many in disappointment over the partisanship and ineffectiveness of a Congress that may end up as the least productive in history. “It’s been frustrating because of the extremism of Tea Party Republicans,” Mr. Waxman said

By now, you may have heard about MyRA. The acronym, which President Barack Obama stumbled over in his State of the Union speech Tuesday night, stands for My Retirement Account. Obama introduced the new plan like this: “MyRA guarantees a decent return with no risk of losing what you put in.” On Wednesday, the administration said it will launch a pilot program of the "new, simple, safe and affordable ‘starter’ retirement savings account” by the end of the year. Bloomberg’s Richard Rubin has the details here. The early verdict: MyRA is intriguing but limited.

A little more than a year after President Obama confidently declared on the campaign trail that Al Qaeda was on the run, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper testified Wednesday that he can´t say the threat from the terror network "is any less" than it was a decade ago. Further, he said Al Qaeda probably poses an even bigger challenge today -- because its franchises are "much more globally dispersed" and the organization recently has benefited from the massive leak of U.S. intelligence information. Clapper made the blunt statements during the annual worldwide threat hearing before the Senate Intelligence Committee

A Los Angeles jury on Tuesday convicted state Sen. Roderick D. Wright on all eight counts in his perjury and voter fraud trial. The Inglewood Democrat was indicted by a Los Angeles County grand jury in September 2010. In a trial that began Jan. 8, prosecutors accused Wright of faking a move to a rental property he owned in Inglewood so he could run in what was then

KIEV, Ukraine — Mykola Azarov, the prime minister of Ukraine, resigned on Tuesday, hours before a planned vote of no confidence in Parliament that could have stripped him of his powers. The resignation came shortly after the pro-government Party of Regions joined with opposition lawmakers on Tuesday to repeal most of the laws in a package of legislation restricting freedom of speech and assembly that was enacted only last week. Together, the resignation and repeals were significant concessions by Ukraine’s embattled president, Viktor F. Yanukovych, as well as clear signs of the building momentum of opposition to his rule. A group of bipartisan lawmakers on Monday agreed to a deal on a farm bill that would end direct subsidies to farms in favor of crop insurance. The deal could trim as much as $90 a month from food stamps for 850,000 recipients. The farm bill would last five years and needs to pass both chambers and then be signed by the president. The bill could be passed before the spring planting season. That´s significant because farmers need to know early how it might affect prices and what to expect for their corn, wheat or tobacco yields. The bill changes the current agricultural subsidy

President Barack Obama delivered a State of the Union Address on Tuesday that was important less for what he said than for what it says about him. The speech was long, more than an hour. At times it was defiant, at others it felt almost conciliatory. But mostly the speech was forgettable, disposable – a long list of modest policy proposals that will not be remembered for much longer than their echo in the House chamber. On domestic policy, we knew what to expect. The stars of last year’s speech – immigration and gun control – were mere afterthoughts this year,

Obama won’t give it up. If you also suffered through the State of the Union address, you heard him praise Obamacare, claim he would slash bureaucracy, and of course, fight for income equality. Obama pandered to the ladies, his tone becoming more passionate with every overly emotional word: Today, women make up about half our workforce. But they still make 77 cents for every dollar a man earns. That is wrong, and in 2014, it’s an embarrassment. A woman deserves equal pay for equal work.
