A woman was brutally stabbed in the chest more than a dozen times while shopping with her infant child at a Bed, Bath & Beyond. Reports say authorities are holding 19-year-old Tyrik Haynes in connection with the Thursday evening attack in Middletown, New Jersey. Haynes allegedly rushed upon Kerri Dalton with no warning as she pushed her son´s stroller through the store and he´s accused of then stabbing Dalton repeatedly in the chest, puncturing both her lungs. He is now charged with attempted murder. Dalton experienced significant blood loss and was airlifted from the Middletown store

Very sad for the young woman and her family.
The scourge of mentally ill people roaming the streets continues. Not much news coverage since no gun was involved.
It is past time to get serious about getting these sorts of folks restrained in mental hospitals. Hear that Mr. President? That´s a plan to stop the violence.
Instead of trying to disarm the whole country, why don´t we have a real conversation about the criminally mentally ill?

More proof that we don´t have a gun problem in this problem but a mental health problem. And the problem is that there too many mentally ill people are allowed to roam free without restraint.

From another source: "Last month, the Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said Haynes was arrested for torching a cat in Middletown. Monmouth County SPCA Chief Victor “Buddy” Amato told the Asbury Park Press Haynes took one of two cats he bought online, brought it out to the woods in a cat carrier and used matches and aerosol to set the carrier on fire."

No doubt these two incidents are the only blots on an otherwise-saintly life. Ahem.

#2: Maybe specialty stores are the real problem?

#6: He´s certainly volunteered to [let´s say] "reside elsewhere." He surely doesn´t belong around human beings. Or cats.

#7: And let´s ask when the "advocates" for the mentally-ill [who got them away from supervision] will answer for the lives and blood?

#9: I´d suggest we have a surprisingly-small but wildly over-publicized violence and unaccountability problem. And a huge lack of perspective on the part of pundits, pols, and the media. Violent crime is found in clearly-defined locales around the country. And not found in huge parts of the US.

I think the trigger was the baby stroller. I know they irritate me. Big as a locomotive and, by God, don´t get in their way. I´ve seen some at the mall that had to have been delivered by an 18 wheeler.

It´s probably time to ban baby strollers. Carry the kid on the momma´s hip. Or, better yet, leave the kid at home with dad, assuming you have any idea who he is.

Lots of articles posted here from UK papers actually report events in the US. For some inexplicable reason, lots of US events seem to be undetectable by the US media. Odd....

BEIJING — Forty ships and more than 20 airplanes were searching for a missing Malaysia Airlines jet Sunday but by nightfall had not found any wreckage, Malaysian authorities said. Meanwhile, Interpol confirmed that two stolen passports—one Italian, one Austrian—used by passengers on the plane had been entered into the agency’s database following their thefts in Thailand in 2012 and 2013. However, the agency said no checks of those passport numbers were made by any country between the time they were entered into Interpol’s database and the time that Flight MH370 departed Kuala Lumpur early Saturday. “Whilst it is too soon

Hers, however, is an eloquent silence. The most intrusive and potentially most punitive federal agency has been politicized; the IRS has become an appendage of Barack Obama’s party. Furthermore, congruent with exhortations from some congressional Democrats, it is intensifying its efforts to suffocate groups critical of progressives, by delaying what once was the swift, routine granting of tax-exempt status. One of the most seismic changes in American politics over the last decade has been the emergence of a sharp generational split among the electorate. The Democratic Party owes its success in the last two presidential elections almost entirely to overwhelming support among the very young, which has overcome continued conservatism among older voters. The Pew Research Institute has dominated the field of exploring the ideological cleavages among different generations. And its latest survey shows again how the liberalism of the youngest voting cohort, millennials, remains firm, and likely to continue to recast the electorate. A few charts from the survey
