Liberal Host Thom Hartmann Says
‘Second Amendment Was Passed
To Protect Slavery’

It’s a popular talking point with conservatives that the purpose of the Second Amendment is to act as a check on a tyrannical government, our own government. According to liberal radio and TV host Thom Hartman, though, the original purpose of the amendment was to act as a check on rebellious slaves, which might just put a kink in Gun Appreciation Day founder Larry Ward‘s theory about Martin Luther King. On Hartmann’s The Big Picture with Thom Hartmann, Hartmann laid it out. “Gun-crazy America is arming up,” he said. ”While Vice President Biden and his gun task force think of

Ironically, the TRUTH is gun control laws was enacted in the South and New York City (see the Sullivan Act) to prevent former slaves and (in NY´s case) immigrants from exercising their Second Amendment-protected rights.

This was an article posted on "Truthout" and Lcom deleted it -- unapproved news source, I assume.

The Thom Hartmann article is so stupid, it´s pure Howard Zinn history rewriting. Some grabs of data that have absolutely no link to the 2nd Amendment, but this guy puts them together in a pompous manner so a bunch of posters act like he´s accomplished some scholarly act. Unbelievable.

Without God, men´s minds goes off into a million different directions, each thought just as "valid" as the other. Example: Pilate said, "what is truth?". They simply cannot know what is the truth about anything. This individual´s thinking is no different than any other´s who reject the Light of the World.

This type of thing can either be dealt with, and put into proper perspective, or "young skulls full of mush", and others, will be indoctrinated by leftists into believing their twisted version of history.

The counterculturists of the 1960s and 70s were crazies too, but they are running the country today. That is, in large part, because the "silent majority" saw the stupidity for what it was and never believed that it would displace common sense.

After all, Adam and Eve walked in the paradise of the Garden of Eden with God, but Satan, in the form of a serpent, added one little word to the truth that God had told them. ["Thou shalt (not) surely die."]
Eve believed Satan. She persuaded Adam. They didn´t die immediately, but ... .

Point: People will believe the lies of the devil even when they have been told the truth by God.

What´s to make us think they won´t continue to believe the lies of leftists, if the truth isn´t pointed out to them - no matter how obvious that truth may seem to us?

With a bitter war against the British fresh in their minds, remembrance of the sacrifices made by regular citizens to defeat the Redcoats of King George..thinking back to the crushing control of King George..the Founders knew they had to protect future citizens of the United States and wrote the 2nd amendment from a Government gone wild.

More fake history. Lefist fascists of course make up lies that are exactly opposite of the truth.

Gun control came about after the Civil War to prevent freed slaves from owning weapons for self protection against the Klan and such. Whites were automatically exempted by law enforcement up until the 40s and 50s when the laws began to be slowly applied to whites, too.

The NRA needs to get some of their Civil Rights partners (Roy Innis at CORE a long time NRA LEADER) to make some commercials pointing this out across the board, maybe focussing on black oriented media by preference to squelch this lie ASAP. NRA is totally colorblind. Gun rights are civil rights.

The passage quoted is wildly out of context. A slave insurrection is merely an example, a thought experiment, about domestic insurrection, not the driving and sole reason for militias. And the passage isn´t even talking about the Second Amendment, it´s talking about who has the duty to call out the militia to suppress domestic insurrections -- the federal government or the individual state. To connect the (non-existent) dots from slave insurrection to militias to Second Amendment is outrageous.

The Justice Department is taking the first steps toward carrying out President Obama’s executive actions on gun control. Attorney General Eric Holder on Friday released three proposals to strengthen the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), which was one of the 23 actions ordered by Obama last week to tackle gun violence. The proposed regulations would give local law-enforcement agencies access to the gun-sale database that is maintained by the FBI. The rules would also preserve records of denied weapons sales indefinitely. The Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act already requires federal background checks for gun purchases, but not every firearm

Why can’t Reid be charged with something? Or perhaps a lawsuit be brought? The answer is the law requiring Congress to pass an annual budget, the Congressional Budget Act
