WaPo: Gun Control Debate
´May´ Be Driving Higher Sales

Breitbart´s Big Journalism, by John Nolte

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 1/18/2013 3:56:24 PM

The Washington Post seems a tad uncomfortable admitting that left-wingery, in the form of gun-grabbing, might have back-fired in ways that could only surprise effete, left-wing, Blue State-dwelling metrosexuals. Gun control debate may be driving higher sales LAS VEGAS — The United States appears to be experiencing a record run on military-style assault weapons, high-capacity magazines and some kinds of ammunition as buyers deluge stores in search of guns and bullets they fear will be banned by the Obama administration, according to firearms industry executives and market analysts. Even allowing for spikes in gun sales that follow

Which is why you can do nothing but scoff at Cuomo´s dictat that the unconstitutional steaming pile they rushed thru in under 24 hours the other night in Albany was only done so because he feared there would be a "rush" to purchase the very firearms he intended to take away from law abiding citizens.

There´s one problem - even if there were three days of review and debate on teh bill - as required by law in NY - there is virtually nothing left on the shelves at brick & mortar and online firearms and ammunition retailers!

Why?

Well, when an oppressor and usurper seeks to take away arms that the Founders of this nation wanted to insure that individuals would have to oppose such an oppressor and usurper, people will act to protect their interests and their nation.

People are arming up because we have a person in the White House who doesn´t respect liberty.

Ran into a group of vocal little old ladies the other day. They all agreed they never had a gun, never saw a need for one, were afraid of them, etc. Then the loudest of the group shot out that she was going out to buy the biggest gun she could find just because the Democrats were trying to tell her she couldn´t have one!

When it was apparent to me that Obama was going to get elected the first time, I purchased a number of firearms in anticipation of his seeking irrational anti gun legislation. So, yeah, I think it is safe to say the left´s hysteria about guns is driving sales. My only regret wasn´t buying stock in Ruger and Smith & Wesson.

A husband & wife I´ve known for many years, he a Civil Engineer, she a University Professor, never owned any firearms to my knowledge, went out last month, took a concealed weapons class and applied for their permits. Both are now proud owners of a S&W 38 revolver, for starters. Both told me they were afraid of our government and the coming civil unrest. Must be thousands of stories like this.

A domino that will fall after this gun rush is the following gun rush, when people who´d never owned a gun before bought one, started practicing with it... and were hooked.
"This one is fine for the range, but I need something better for home defense."
"This one is fine for home defense, but I need something smaller to carry comfortably."
"These are fine for home defense and carry, but I need similar ones in .22 to practice with because the ammo is kind of costly."

It´s astonishing that the left would not expect sales to skyrocket and the more they threaten the more we buy. It´s just common sense.

Sort of like JFK just before he embargoed Cuba he sent Pierre Salinger to buy two cases of the fine Cuban cigars he loved. It hacked me off when I first read about it but in retrospect I guess I can´t blame him.

Difficult to assess if these fools are actually THAT stupid, or just whistling past a graveyard. Either is believable.

Lots of folks are getting scared of being without the ability to provide for their own security.

Truth has ALWAYS been that you have exactly as much security as you bring with you. Tools, skills and situational awareness.

Cops are always there right after it happens - no fault of theirs in most cases, just reality, ask any cop. They sometimes get there in time, but not so often.

As to the engineer and prof that have purchased .38 revolvers -- good start, they should be commended but depending on the scenario, more quantity and power should be considered. Why do these morons think that the AR15s and 20 or 30 round magazines are so popular?

Sending scores of armed agents along with helicopters and dogs to confront an elderly Nevada rancher over grazing fees may seem like overkill, but critics say it’s not inconsistent with the federal government’s recent approach to environmental enforcement. The simmering truce between the Bundys and the Bureau of Land Management comes after high-profile raids last year by armed federal agents on small-time gold miners in tiny Chicken, Alaska, and guitar makers at the Gibson Guitar facilities in Tennessee. That doesn’t include more subtle threats, such as recent efforts by the Obama administration to raise grazing fees or pressure

Rep. Joe Garcia (D-Fla.) is among the Democrats pressing Congress to take up immigration reform. On Tuesday, he told a conference call that deportations are breaking families apart and leaving children in foster care. "So the human toll has been horrific. This president, by implementation of existing law, has been forced to deport a huge number of Americans." Although Garcia may consider the deportees to be "Americans," legally they are not. But they might become citizens if Garcia and other immigration advocates get their way. Democrats are urging Republicans to sign their discharge petition, which would force a House vote on

The government claims they haven’t paid grazing fees for 20 years. The result was a government assault on the ranch- including snipers with assault rifles, SUV’s, helicopters, airplanes and over 200 heavily armed troops. No

Thank God for Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration J. Russell George. His investigation of what turned out to be the IRS abuse scandal may well have saved the Constitution and the nation. For his fair and impartial investigation into the Internal Revenue Service’s abuse of Americans who dissent from President Obama’s agenda, Democrats have called for an investigation of him. George should not be investigated, but perhaps the Democrats who want him investigated — Reps. Gerry Connolly (D-VA) and Matt Cartwright (D-PA) — should be. Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports. How do you ensure that you won’t be ostracized, denounced, or fired if you are a media celebrity, captain of industry, or high public official? For some, sexist banter is certainly no problem. Stand-up comedian Bill Maher called Sarah Palin a c–t and a tw-t, but suffered no ill consequences. David Letterman joked on air that Sarah Palin’s 14-year-old daughter had had sex with Alex Rodriguez during a New York Yankees game. There was no downside to that either.
