Leno on Obama´s Birthday
Gift to Michelle: ‘He´s
Very Responsible When He´s
Spending His Own Money’

Newsbusters, by Noel Sheppard

Original Article

NBC Tonight Show host Jay Leno took a fiscal poke at President Obama Thursday. After mentioning that it was Michelle Obama’s birthday, and that she told reporters that she wanted “a nice gift from Barack, but nothing extravagant,” Leno quipped, “Oh, don´t worry. Obama is very responsible when he´s spending his own money. Don´t have worry about that. No problem there” (video follows with commentary): Wouldn’t it be nice if others in the media were willing to mock Obama’s fiscal indiscipline rather than support and/or cover it up?

His priority is jobs/economy so he repeatedly says.... Here come new gun laws.

Obama´s jobs council hasn´t had an official meeting in over a year.

Leno does seem to be more traditionally mainstream, approaching fair and balanced in his political comments, especially in contrast to his "competition."

Exactly why entitlements/welfare are not "policy" problems.

Leno is probably being critical because he feels the higher Obama taxes and the extreme California taxes hitting his pocketbook. He has a high salary and apparently much wealth. He has an expensive vintage car collection. He is very much a member of the one percent. When it is your money being taken it is different.

Leno also had to cut his salary and staff.
He was too easy on Obama pre election.
Buyers remorse?

I thought the Obamas did not exchange birthday gifts. I seem toremember something about that from the first campaign.

BTW, #1, black diamonds are industrial diamonds -- little value.

Forgive this tired response, but who is Jay Leno, and why does his opinion merit publication?

Out of the mouth of Jay. Obama is like all leftists, he´s generous with taxpayer money but cheap when it comes from his own pocket.

As he continues guiding the Senate toward eventual consideration of proposals to curb gun violence, Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) invoked his father’s suicide Tuesday as he once again pleaded with Republicans not to block legislation under consideration. During his morning remarks on the Senate floor, Reid recalled receiving a 12-gauge shotgun ordered from a Sears catalog for his 12th birthday and made reference to incidents of gun violence in his home state of Nevada, including the 2010 shooting at a Las Vegas federal building. He also noted that as a young state legislator, he sponsored a bill

He won a second term, but Barack Obama isn’t done fund-raising. The president will appear at a cozy reception for fewer than 65 guests with tickets priced at $32,400 per couple at the Manhattan home of movie mogul Harvey Weinstein and his designer wife Georgina Chapman on May 13, Page Six has exclusively learned. The invitation explains attendees get “a frank and intimate discussion with the president” where they can ask questions, and afterward Obama will “say thank you to each guest and take a photo with them.” A Weinstein-hosted fundraiser in August brought out

A homeless man, oblivious to President Obama’s passing motorcade, took BB gun practice in the nearby woods and refused to drop his weapon when confronted by Connecticut cops, officials said today. Obama was speaking yesterday at the University of Hartford when police, stationed along the president’s route to Bradley International Airport, heard noises coming from a nearby wooded area around 5:50 p.m., said Bloomfield police Capt. Stephen Hajdasz. A detective from the neighboring town of Simsbury ordered the man — identified as 27-year-old Joseph Stravinskas — to drop what appeared to be a rifle, according to Hajdasz.

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”

However, any deal could be derailed by the looming threat of a Republican filibuster involving Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.
