´Deddy. What is this strange white
stuff falling from the sky?´

Telegraph [UK], by James Delingpole

Original Article

Posted By:Attercliffe, 1/18/2013 11:32:58 AM

On days like this it seems positively churlish not to remind the Independent of its most famous comedy headline ever: Snowfalls are now just a thing of the past. Problem is, I don´t think they meant it as a comedy headline.[Snip] According to Dr David Viner, a senior research scientist at the climatic research unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia, within a few years winter snowfall will become "a very rare and exciting event". "Children just aren´t going to know what snow is," he said. Actually they are, as Anthony Watts notes at Watts Up With That?

Comments:
Delingpole is overjoyed at the "weeks to thaw" prognosis seen in another article.

Humans are naturally ´herd´ types. Belonging to something bigger than one´s self, gives individuals a sense of security. Belief in global warming, recycling, conserving and preaching environmentalism, are all activities of the Ghia group. It´s members are not only secure, but feel superior to non-members.

NEVER point out gaps in their reasoning or actual facts. You will be loudly and emotionally labeled a ´denier´, then shunned.

Delingpole is up there with Mark Steyn.

Now...Hurricane Sandy is climate. But a foot of snow is weather. Just ask the Warmists. They are so stupid. But the said thing is...they think we are dumber than they are. Get it? Buy an assault rifle. Get ten 30 round magazines and a big telescopic sight. You´re gonna need it if the 47% hits 51%. That will be the last election.

A small Idaho grocery chain has been dubbed ´Wal-Mart´s worst nightmare´ after recording huge profits at its 100 stores. The no frills Western-based chain WinCo offers cheaper prices as well as better employee conditions than its giant rival, according to experts who claim that the small chain could one day be national competitor. [Snip] It keeps its costs low by eliminating the middleman and buying direct from suppliers often sending their own trucks to collect produce which means they get a better price. Customers are also expected to bag their own groceries and credit cards are not accepted, bringing prices

It´s in an excellent location, within reach of local schools, has very low maintenance costs and the transport links are to die for. But nevertheless, even the most cunning of estate agents would have trouble selling this Greek Revival brownstone townhouse... because it´s not a house at all. In fact, it´s just a front--literally. Behind the rustic red-brick facade of 58 Joralemon Street, in the heart of Brooklyn, lies a gaping void of nothing whatsoever. It is actually a secret subway exit and ventilation point disguised as a terraced family home which towers above the New York City subway tracks

They are thought to be the site of the Garden of Eden, but Saddam Hussein turned them into hell on earth. Yet now, largely through one man’s vision and sacrifice, the Mesopotamian marshes have been sufficiently restored for much of them to have been designated as Iraq’s first national park. Fed by the great Tigris and Euphrates rivers, the marshes were once the largest and richest in wildlife in the Middle East, and--at some 7,700 square miles--the third most extensive in the world. More than five millennia ago, much of the modern human story began around their shores

U.S. Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., will deliver the Republican Weekly Address tomorrow, and he will talk about how the nation’s energy policy and jobs picture are tied together. For the freshman Senator, the address will be his highest profile speech to date, with the possible exception of his speech in Tampa at last year’s Republican presidential convention. The address is typically run by ABC, CBS, and other national radio networks. Scott took office in January, filling the vacancy created by Sen. Jim DeMint’s resignation. The Clintons have decided to rent a different house in the Hamptons this summer after they only received a small portion of their security deposit back from the home they rented last year. The famous Democrats have been frequent visitors to the expensive summer getaway in Long Island, and rented the same beachfront house in 2011 and 2012. An Arizona jail officer has been gunned down in front of his own home on his way to work, leading to a furious search for the man who killed him Thursday. Hours after the murder of Jorge Vargas, a 27-year-old married father of a little boy, his boss, Maricopa County Sheriff´s Joe Arpaio announced that he is issuing every deputy in his department an AR-15 assault rifle and commanding them to carry loaded guns at all times--even when off duty. Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump said Vargas succumbed to his injuries Thursday about an hour after the 4am shooting.

But when that day finally comes, whatever you do, just don´t ask him to do the weather. In his latest cringe-worthy performance in front of the cameras, the former Congressman attempted to deflect a tough question from an English reporter in New York yesterday by answering in a bizarre fake-British accent. Two men have been arrested in Saudi Arabia on suspicion of planning terrorist attacks which forced the closure of several foreign embassies in the region in recent weeks. The arrests come as the U.S. sharply escalated its drone attacks on neighbouring Yemen on Thursday with 12 militants killed in three separate strikes. Saudi officials claim the two men arrested, from Yemen and Chad, were planning suicide attacks connected to recent al Qaeda threats on American and British embassies which forced their closures this week. The pair were detained in late July after they exchanged information on social media about imminent

The 30,000 inhabitants of Gibraltar are bravely standing up to a futile campaign of intimidation by Spain. As The Telegraph reported earlier this week, the Spanish government is threatening “to impose a new border tax, close its airspace to planes using the British overseas territory’s airport, and investigate the affairs of Gibraltarians with Spanish economic interests,” all in an effort to harass the people of Gibraltar, the vast majority of whom are British citizens. This follows no less than 200 unlawful incursions by Spanish state vessels in British Gibraltar Territorial Waters last year. Madrid is acting like a schoolyard bully

That O´Donnell interrupted and harangued and mansplained and was generally an angry grandpa at me is not what I take issue with, however. What bothers me is that, look: your producers take the time to find experts to come on the show, answer your questions, and, hopefully, clarify the issue at hand.

President Barack Obama announced Friday afternoon that the White House will publicly release a summary of the legal authorities through which the National Security Agency conducts its controversial surveillance programs. ´Given the history of abuse by governments,´ he said, it is important to explain how such a program is managed, and - equally important - what it may not do. He described his working relationship with Vladimir Putin as ´candid´ and ´blunt,´ and seemed to dismiss concerns that the Russian president´s body language indicated a lack of willingness to work with the United States.
