Additions to be made to gun

A troubling oversight has been found within New York State´s sweeping new gun laws. The ban on having high-capacity magazines, as it´s written, would also include law enforcement officers. Magazines with more than seven rounds will be illegal under the new law when that part takes effect in March. As the statute is currently written, it does not exempt law enforcement officers. Nearly every law enforcement agency in the state carries hand guns that have a 15 round capacity. #1, your attitude is pretty poor. I know first hand that the police cannot respond to crimes as they are initiated in most cases. That doesn´t mean that it doesn´t happen and when it does they don´t hesitate to put their life in danger to protect the innocent victims. They are also a pretty easy target for whoever wishes to target them and it does happen, unfortunately, too often.

Since criminals and crazy people heading out on their own personal suicide mission don´t obey laws, all the liberal NY politicians have done is harass law abiding New Yorkers, and have created a black market for the classes of guns and magazines that they have banned.

New York gun owners can certainly show their disdain for what the politicians have done there by moving to other more gun owner friendly States, or if they don´t want to do that, vote the politicians out in the next election who supported that over reaching gun control law.

Not so fast, friends.

The Left "knows" that what they call high-capacity magazines and semi-auto weapons are the problem. If not, why would they want to deny them to every citizen? And if the danger comes from the hi-cap magazines and the semi-auto mechanisms [and is not a product of criminal choices and acts], then yes, even law officers, Secret Service, even members of the military will have to be limited to 7-round magazines and non-auto-loaders.

Reply 10 - Posted by: BaseballFan, 1/17/2013 9:39:43 PM     (No. 9123288)

I´m with you, #8.
This phony baloney legislation was cooked up behind closed doors, NEVER debated on the floor of the NY legislature, and then voted on and signed in just 48 hours.
And now this.

Way to go, Mario, you MUTT!

Reply 11 - Posted by: Michaelus, 1/17/2013 9:57:14 PM     (No. 9123315)

Nope. If a responsible citizen does not need a rifle for self defense then the civilian police force has no need for it either. The police are not the military.

Let´s get Cuomo to explain why the civilian police need military assault rifles.

Great question, #11. I like how the Democrats can just ´declare´ that LEs are exempt, because of their own misguided laws.

Let´s see if I have this right. Cops have a need for "assault rifles with 30 round magazines to protect us and themselves from the "bad guys" but private law abiding citizens don´t need them for the same purposes? Only in New York is that kind of rationale even deemed sane.

An authoritative new poll of more than 15,000 cops released on the eve of this week´s Senate anti-gun debate shows that a sweeping majority of officers don´t believe gun control will work or keep them safer, and nearly nine in 10 believe having more armed citizens would curb gun violence. Standard & Poor´s Ratings Service downgraded Illinois in what is the latest fallout over the $96.8 billion debt to five state pension systems.
