| It has become conventional wisdom that Republicans are suffering an internal split that President Obama is successfully exploiting to neuter the Republican House. It is not true, however, that the Republican split is philosophical and fundamental, and that a hopelessly divided GOP is therefore headed for decline, perhaps irrelevance. In fact, the split is tactical, not philosophical; short-term, not fundamental. And therefore quite solvable. How do we know? Simple thought experiment: Imagine that we had a Republican president. Would the party be deeply divided over policy, at war with itself in Congress? Not at all.

What is a tactical split? Why would a party want to employee such a split. Or any split?
Granted, the GOP can´t govern while they control only the House. So what? Is it therefore better to divide and be even weaker?

Republicans can still be the party of NO. They cannot impose their will on 0bama, but they hold the purse strings. Refuse to pass Continuing Resolutions and force the Senate to address a House passed budget. Bargain with the Democrats but don´t give up their power to shape spending.

#7 - what is turning off many former Republican voters is their acting Like Democrats. My Congressman voted to raise my taxes and not cut government spending (and I´m not one of the so-called rich).
If the end result is the same, what difference does it make which party we vote for. Higher taxes and no spending cut is the same, whether Dem or Repub. I can´t see how the repubs will ever get my vote back again.

If the Dems wind up owning what they create and enact, the voters will have an easy choice to make.
However, the Dem-Media tag team is pretty good at covering their tracks. The Dems know they can usually create a problem, then jump in front of the subsequent protest parade, and the media will ensure the low-info voter believes it.

Yes 11, but when Clinton was President we had the House and the Senate. Even so, we failed to impeach Clinton. The House voted to impeach but the Senate would not and so it died. So much for a different and better kind of leadership. It didn´t exist in the Senate.

Republicans don´t have the power because they have too broad a consensus. Perhaps I should say Republicans won´t excercise power because they have too broad a concensus. They don´t dare risk alienating anyone so, like the miller and his son, they do foolish and dangerous things that will end in disaster if they continue.
The idea that the party will automatically rally around fellow Republicans 100% is ludicrous. Did the party rally around Reagan? Did they rally around Newt? Sarah Palin? Allen West, Ted Cruz, Joe Miller? The philosophical and fundamental differences will not go away just because people stick their fingers in their ears and pretend they aren´t there.
Here´s a thought experiment. If all the fools and children who think the party should stand on its original principles of small government and rigid constitutionality were to get fed up enough to withdraw from the party, would the Republicans win? If so, then you have no worries. You are free to ignore us and quit pretending that we are needed in the ´big tent´. If not, then perhaps you´d better find a way to include us (Hint: ´Quit whining and vote for the Republican´, is not inclusion) because it should be clear by now that we don´t back down. It´s not in our nature. So deal with it or move on.

It will doubtless project a reduction in the federal budget deficit—a projection that journalists, commentators and policy makers should ignore. To do otherwise is to be complicit in fraud. Strong statement? Not really. For 50 years or so the federal government has deliberately and to an increasing extent misstated probable future budget deficits. Democrats and Republicans are guilty. The White House is guilty. And so is Congress. Private firms that deliberately misrepresent their financial statements in this fashion would be guilty of a crime. North Korea’s young leader Kim Jong-un is waiting for United States President Barack Obama to make a phone call to Pyongyang to discuss easing tensions on the Korean peninsula, according to Russia’s news agency Itar-Tass. Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”
