| After reviewing President Obama‘s 23 “executive actions” signed into law yesterday, Joe Scarborough said Thursday morning that his Republican Party had better proceed with caution, seeing as how he believes the policy proposals have the “overwhelming” support of the American people. The president’s plan included universal background checks on gun purchases, which Scarborough said has the support of at least “85% of Americans.” The president’s call for a restoration the “military-style assault weapons” ban, the MSNBC host said, enjoys at least “60/40? support. “Almost 7 in 10 americans support” limiting

Comments: This moron is more detrimental to the party than the RINO´s because he is in the media daily. "Treading lightly" is what has gotten the Republicans in the fix we are in. The last election is a perfect example. Shut up Joe.

With all due respect to the parents who lost loved ones at the Sandy Hook shooting if I had a child in school today, and I will have grandchildren there shortly, I want them protected. I want guards, or armed personnel on campus trained and willing to defend lives. I do not want the ability to defend my young ones stripped from me. If it´s about protecting our children it is about being armed to the teeth to do so. If anyone had been armed the outcome could have been vastly different. I have been telling everyone I talk to my position. I do not know why that is so hard to understand.

Just who does RINO Joe think is buying up all those guns and ammo? I think folks are really demonstrating "overwhelming Support" for the Constitution and specifically "shall not infringe". But then Scarborough is suffering from the "Stockholm Syndrome". He´s been too close to the Left for so long he has become one of them.

Most of the people in the United States don´t know who Joe Scarborough, have never heard of him.
I first heard of him here and can´t get rid of him as he pops up here daily, usually in multiple posts.
Have we unwittingly given him celebrity he doesn´t deserve?

At the risk of being out-of-step again - it´s good to separate the message from the messenger. I think he´s right. No one but the most hardcore conservative purists (like most here) objects to background checks for gun purchases at this point. To me, it´s kind of like the voter ID issue - like voting, guns are a privilege, and why would one object if there is nothing objectionable in one´s background? I know it could lead to abuses, but then everything can, and they could be addressed.
Everyone knows everything anyway! I called last night regarding resetting user ID and PW for a credit card, and I was shocked by the multiple choice questions the agent was asking me. I asked her how she knew these things, and she said, "Public records"!

A couple of thgs need to be clarified. UNLIKE voting, owning a firearm is NOT a privilege, Sir. It is a RIGHT, recognized in the Constitution. Not conferred- RECOGNIZED as existing, specificlly to instruct government NOT to interfere.
Arguably, we have agreed as a society that there are certain persons, under certain circumstances, who have forfeited that right - felons for example, who have ALSO forfeited their right to vote. But a word to the wise - a RIGHT does not become a privilege because you say so.
Secondly with very limited exceptions virtually ALL firearm transfers involve a background check. In certain states, firearms inherited, transferred from parent to child, (of legal age to possess) or between spouse do not.
Statements to the contrary do not change those facts. Finally, statements by faux pundits lke Scarborough, about what "the majority of the American people" want are not rendered factual by repeating them.
There is a prescribed method for altering the Constitution. It is VERY difficult to achieve, as it should be. Until then It doesn´t matter what you or anyone else "wants". It is a Bill of RIGHTS, not a Bill of ´Wants´ or Needs´. /Rant

Left wingers have a truly symbiotic relationship with mainstream/´progressive´ reporters: The media like to project their own opinions and concerns onto others, and their Liberal audience love to be told what they believe or feel by intellectual elites whose opinions and feelings they trust.
Seeing "sources say", "experts report", "research reveals", or "the people support/oppose" makes me growl now. Because nobody with any integrity lets another person tell them what they believe, think, or feel.

Owning a gun is not a privilege. It is a RIGHT guaranteed to us by the United States Constitution. We have the legal right to bare arms. Driving a car on public highways is not a right and you must have a license to do so.

IMHO, UNIVERSAL BACKGROUND CHECKS is code for NATIONAL DATABASE, which is what they really want. With that they will have the ability to pick us off one subset at a time. If you are on that database will they come for your gun if you are accused of domestic violence, or go through a personal tragedy and need to see a doctor, or if you get a traffic ticket and might want to shoot up a courthouse etc....

#21, you are correct, I suspect. And if you combine that database with the mandatory medical records computerization, (which was added to the 2009 stimulus bill, with 35 billion dollars of funding) the federal government will be able to identify anyone taking any kind of ´psychiatric´ drug, and deny them the right to purchase a firearm. How bad is this? Hypothetical - death of a loved one, prescription for valium to take to get through the funeral? doesn´t matter -- psychiatric label on you.

Things change. I´d bet an ´overwhelming´ number of Americans would really like to know who organized and ran Operation Fast And Furious. There would be ´support´ for finding who it was that instructed the AZ gun store to sell ´assault´ weapons to obvious drug dealers, breaking several gun control laws in the process.

The problems with the background is arbitrary denials and false negatives. You should be automatically approved if there is any doubt as this is the stronger right. The opposite is the way they want to implement it. Also, it creates a database that by it´s nature is not private and can be used against you. If a majority of people want to stop paying taxes will they go along with that? I didn´t realize Joe was so dumb. I have never watched him. Has he always been like this?

The tens of thousands (and more) who are waiting in long, long lines willing to shell over hundreds of thousands of dollars might disagree with you. This will do nothing to stop the black on black crime of the inner cities (Chicago, NY are you listening?). It´s the breakdown of the family, the absent fathers and trashy mothers. They are the problem first and foremost. Joe is a boil that needs to be lanced.

FTA: The president’s plan included universal background checks on gun purchases, which Scarborough said has the support of at least "85% of Americans."
So what?
Self-defense, armed [that is, effective] self-defense, is an inalienable right recognized in the Constitution, and recognized by the Constitution as beyond reach of any gov´t we may establish.
There´s simply no discussion that can be had that counters that fact.
But yes, criminals can be stripped of weapons, but that is because they forfeit the right to arms by actions that damage the legitimate rights of the law-abiding.
All it takes is a little knowledge and some careful, disciplined reasoning to "get" this stuff. But it ain´t rocket surgery, friends. It just ain´t.

# 14 you are wrong about guns a voting. They are both rights. A privilege is a drivers license or credit card. As for background checks, that makes sense, but kind of like you said; who sets the standards for what is and is not objectionable? Seems simple enough not to let convicted murderers and psychos have guns, but some mass murderers are neither before they act.

Several snippets of the audio from the February strategy sessions were published Tuesday by Mother Jones magazine, along with a lengthy article. One of the first political issues negotiators must tackle in crafting an immigration reform bill is among the most important: what to name it. It’s a decision that will bruise egos, create legacies and deeply affect subsequent messaging battles. “Every time the bill is mentioned in the press, you either have a brand that´s positive or a brand that doesn´t mean anything or even hurts you,” said Frank Sharry, the executive director of the pro-immigration reform group America’s Voice. The murder trial of abortionist Kermit Gosnell largely is being ignored by the mainstream media, even in the face of grisly testimony, such as what we heard yesterday. Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”

Chelsea Clinton has raised her profile in the last few days, which sparked the inevitable question about the former first daughter´s future: Will she ever be like Mom and Dad and run for office? Clinton, 33, essentially said "maybe" in an interview that aired Monday on NBC´s Today show. "Right now I´m grateful to live in a city, a state and a country where I strongly support my mayor, my governor, my president and my senators and my representative," said Clinton, whose father, Bill, was president from 1993-2001 and her mother, Hillary

More than 700 Special Operations veterans are urging members of Congress to back a select committee to investigate last year’s Benghazi terrorist attack, according to a letter first obtained by Fox News. The letter from the group, “Special Operations Speaks,” supports the appointment of a special committee tasked with the single mission of investigating the attack that left Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans dead, and shut down the CIA operation in an annex of the Benghazi consulate, in the Sept. 11, 2012 attack. “Congress must show some leadership and provide answers to the public

There was growing buzz over the weekend that a bipartisan agreement on gun control — a deal that would expand background checks — could hit the floor as early as this week. However, any deal could be derailed by the looming threat of a Republican filibuster involving Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. With Cruz standing proudly in the way of any gun legislation, Democrats are trying to make him pay a political price — and even a couple of high-profile Republicans are questioning his tactics.

Amid all of the very real threats of war and stuff from North Korea, you´d think American intelligence officers want as much video footage of the enemy as possible. Well, here is one video featuring North Korean exercises and Kim Jong-Un holding a gun, and we´ll say this: they certainly get points for presentation. Remember the clap-happy report from Dennis Rodman´s diplomatic basketball vacation? This video comes courtesy of the same Youtube channel that gave us that Rodman video. It appears to be the same state news channel.(Snip for video)This latest dispatch from North Korea´s state television

The case of a same-sex Connecticut couple accused of repeatedly raping and abusing two of their nine adopted boys is headed for trial. Married couple George Harasz and Douglas Wirth of Glastonbury were supposed to be sentenced Friday in Hartford Superior Court under a plea deal, but instead withdrew from their agreement with prosecutors. The men had already pleaded no contest in January to one felony count each of risk of injury to a minor — a reduction from even more serious charges related to sexual assault....
