Rand Paul: Obama ‘arrogant and

In a conference call today with a small group of journalists, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said that President Obama was “arrogant and presumptuous” in saying in recent weeks that Israel “doesn’t know what its own best interests are.” “That’s an arrogant and presumptuous point of view and doesn’t further progress on anything,” the senator said, and he returned to that view throughout the call as he discussed the location of Israel’s capital and Israeli settlements. Paul decried U.S. politicians who display “this flippant and arrogant” attitude about internal Israeli affairs,

Thanks, Rand.

Rand should have went further and said that the WH is totally behind furthering the koran and the muslim brotherhood and Israel is standing in their way.

Nearly eight years after her son was killed in the crossfire of a Santa Monica gang´s violence, Armita Lopez found justice Thursday in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom. But not before her son´s killer seized one last opportunity to torment her. "I was waiting for this day because it was not fair that they killed my son," a tearful Lopez said of Jose Contreras Zapien Jr. and his fellow gang members. Zapien mocked her with a dismissive chuckle and smirk. The judge snapped at Zapien, telling him to "stop smiling." Minutes later, he sentenced the 25-year-old to life in prison

Politics: New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie took responsibility for a politically motivated shutdown of a major bridge artery Thursday, as political heat boiled. What´s infuriating is how this kind of politics is becoming the norm. It was the sort of thing that infuriates voters: With little warning last Sept. 9, two lanes of the George Washington Bridge were shut down for four days for a supposed "traffic study" — forcing commuters on the world´s busiest bridge road to wait in traffic for up to four hours. The 276,000 vehicles that cross into New York from New Jersey each day had one

CARACAS, Venezuela — Venezuelans kill one another by the tens of thousands every year, making this South American nation one of the world’s most violent. But the slaying of former Miss Venezuela Mónica Spear at the hands of roadside bandits Monday night has shaken this country like no other recent crime. Beauty queens are as revered here as top athletes and movie stars, and the government of President Nicolás Maduro is scrambling to contain the public outrage. Disgusted Venezuelans berated the government on social media and in street protests Wednesday, while Maduro summoned the country’s governors and big-city mayors to an

The Border: Twenty years ago, Mexico threw open its doors to free trade, creating a big middle class on its border with the U.S. But now it´s chasing that same middle class into this country, thanks to a foolish tax hike. It was on the anniversary of the North American Free Trade Agreement, one of the country´s smartest moves, that Mexico has made one of the dumbest — one that can´t help but do the opposite of what NAFTA did and drive trade north. As part of the government´s economic package for 2014, Mexico´s legislature approved a measure to raise

Another midterm election beckons, and over the next 10 months we’ll see headlines about a thousand supposedly critical developments—the “game changers” and the “tipping points.” But we all know there aren’t a thousand powerful drivers of the vote. I’d argue that three factors are paramount: the president, the economy and the election playing field. And, at least preliminarily, those three factors seem to be pointing toward Republican gains in both houses in the 2014 midterms. Why? 1. The president. His job approval numbers are perhaps the best indicator of the public’s overall political orientation at any given time, a kind of summary

In a long statement recalling the 181st anniversary of the ´usurpation of our Malvinas, South Georgia, South Sandwich Islands and the adjoining maritime spaces´ (almost three million square kilometers) the Argentine Foreign ministry contrasts Buenos Aires peaceful, dialogue attitude with the verbal aggressiveness from British officials when referring to the Malvinas issue. The release accuses the UK of ignoring UN resolutions, International Law and growing world public opinion favorable to Argentina and sovereignty negotiations, which is the best evidence that in the Malvinas issue, “the lion still roars but no longer frightens”.

New research by the European Commission predicts that water shortages will be made worse by population growth and increased demand. Drought can have a serious economic and social impact and is thought to have cost Europe over €100billion (or £83billion) in the past three decades alone. Researchers used computer models to predict which parts of Europe could be worst hit by increasing temperatures and intensive
