| The following is a list, provided by the White House, of executive actions President Obama plans to take to address gun violence. 1. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal agencies to make relevant data available to the federal background check system. 2. Address unnecessary legal barriers, particularly relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, that may prevent states from making information available to the background check system. 3. Improve incentives for states to share information with the background check system. 4. Direct the Attorney General to review categories of individuals prohibited

Comments: 0bama just had the gall to say this is the land of the free and always will be. What a pathological liar he is. It won´t be the land of the free while he is ruling. When you see a sentence beginning with "Direct the Attorney General" you should be very afraid.

I note that Obama´s DOJ has an important part to play in these new gun contorl rules and regulations. This is the same DOJ that continues to coverup and stonewall regarding the DOJ´s illegal transfer of thousands of so-called assault weapons to Mexican drug cartels. Something smells of long dead fish.

With some exceptions, there´s not much on this list that is too onerous. HOWEVER, the list does not address severe prosecution of those who commit crimes with guns. Stop those creatures, and you´ll stop maybe 85% of all crime. And, there´s thankfully nothing addressing types of guns.

Don´t see anything really outstanding here one way or the other. Mainly telling Federal agencies to do what they are already empowered to do. Must be content to leave the tough stuff in Congress´ lap--where it belongs, actually.

What the list tells me is that he is not interested in gun violence. If he were he would address mental health issues with congress to enact more stringent laws. This is a photo op for the low info to confuse the low info crowd into thinking he is doing something. This is just a list of things to spend money on.

We never answer questions regarding possession of guns on medical forms. If the question is on a form we leave it blank, and if someone ever asks, we will refuse to answer the question. Actually, my husband did have a conversation with a doctor, who agreed that it is not an appropriate question. It is no one´s business, including physicians, if you have guns in your home.

I love it when 0bama touts Reagan´s 1994 letter on "assault weapons." Don´t forget that Ron Reagan said that his father´s dementia started during his second term and that his doctors diagnosed it in 1992. Did Reagan have the mental capacity to make an informed decision on this in 1994?

I see these as just another way for Barry to create more bureaucrasy and red tape. The Doctor references should be disobeyed by everyone - refuse to ask if you´re a Dr., and refuse to answer if you´re a patient.
Any patient with psychiatric problems will now resist going to a doctor now that they have to be snitches.

What an incredible load of meaningless nothing, Presidential memorandums, DOJ reports, reminders about what agencies are already doing? Talk about a waste of breath.
One made me laugh out loud
17. Release a letter to health care providers clarifying that no federal law prohibits them from reporting threats of violence to law enforcement authorities.
Let me rephrase
Remind doctors that the Dr Patient confidentiality respected by all legal precedant in the US is VOLUNTARY and that a Dr can tell the government anything he wants to about his patients.
What a tool. Notice, not one call for any actual legislative action, or more directly, no call for any kind of public debate on the matter.

Just another grandstand by Obama. As far as my doctor asking me about guns, who cares? I will either tell him to MYOB, or that I have an M1-A1 Abrams tank in my garage, depending on my mood that day.

Incremental disarmament. Between Jarold (Jabba the Hutt) Nadler deciding just how many bullets should be required for self defense to my senile idiotic senator Nelson telling me what weapons I should use for hunting this has gotten completely out of hand.
The purpose of the 2nd Amendment is not to protect the rights of hunters...it is to protect the citizens from oppressive government.
When the govt comes after your guns, I´m sure they will have "assault" style weapons. I will have the equivalent....after all...it´s only fair...

This is a setup to broadening the diagnosis of mental illness. Just as the definition of ´terrorist´ has been enlarged to include returning veterans, home schoolers and evangelical congregations, look for mental illness to be expanded to include conservative principles, patriotic beliefs and regular prayer.

What a bunch of nothing. I am very surprised. If nothing else why didn´t he at least address the gang culture and the mental health issues. Also what about reinforcing the idea use a gun in a crime automatic prison sentence. If we don´t turn around some of the cultural issues we will never get violence under control. He didn´t even mention the violence in movies and games. I can´t believe this will satisfy his base because they want much stricter controls and outright bans.

Rush Limbaugh is the most listened to talk radio host in America. Yet for at least the second year in a row, he´s been left off the Hollywood Reporter´s "35 Most Powerful People in Media" list. Those that made the list include MSNBC´s Mika Brzezinski, Rachel Maddow, and Joe Scarborough. Are these three folks really more powerful than Limbaugh? Apparently so are Stephen Colbert, Anderson Cooper, Bob Costas, Katie Couric, Jimmy Fallon, Piers Morgan, Kelly Ripa, Howard Stern, Michael Strahan, Jon Stewart, Wendy Williams, and Anna Wintour.

"Hadiya Pendleton was me, and I was her," said the first lady. "Thousands of children in this city live in neighborhoods where a funeral for a teenager is considered unfortunate, but not unusual; where wandering onto the wrong block or even just standing on your own front porch can mean putting yourself at risk," Michelle Obama told the Chicago crowd, according to a transcript provided by the White House.

Left-wing magazine Mother Jones made news this week with a report based on a secret recording of a Feb. 2 meeting of Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell with campaign strategists. Federal and state law prohibits publication of information acquired through secret recording, but a 2001 Supreme Court ruling gives publishers like Mother Jones a get-out-of-jail-free card. But whoever taped the private conversation can’t wiggle off the hook so easily. Whoever bugged the meeting room or secretly placed a recording device will be in serious legal trouble — unless he or she was one of the strategists.

A Michigan high school canceled a speech by former Sen. Rick Santorum after teachers became outraged over his opposition to gay marriage and threatened to stage protests and a possible work stoppage. Santorum had been invited to deliver a upcoming speech on leadership by the Young Americans for Freedom chapter at Gross Pointe South High School. But the speech was canceled on Monday after the school district’s superintendent heard from angry teachers. “It’s a sad day when liberal educators are allowed to influence young minds – extending free speech rights only to those who share their liberal views,” Santorum said

Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”

Obama’s ambitious plans to ban assault weapons and limit magazine capacities are off the table, while the NRA suggested it could support the most likely outcome -- expanded background checks -- as recently as 1999. The NRA claims that the president’s efforts have triggered a fundraising surge and boosted its membership from 4 million to nearly 5 million.

Two men who have sex with each other for a year and do not produce a baby would be considered “infertile” under the proposed legislation. So would two women having sex. Since biology does not allow those without a uterus to conceive or those without a penis to impregnate, every year-long gay couple in California would potentially be covered by this new provision of California law.
