Mark Sanford made a mistake. And, instead of dodging the issue, he admitted his mistake live on TV. This alone makes him qualified for a 2nd look, because no politician has ever, EVER confessed to a error in judgment like he did and stood up to the consequences.

Forgiveness doesn´t mean you´re required to hang out with the guy. It just means he´s forgiven.
It doesn´t matter what the ex does, it only matters what you do.
Can´t the party do any better? It´s not as though he´s asking to stay in office. He´s asking to be endorsed for an office he´s never had.
Palin did nothing like this guy and can´t get a break from her own party.

#11, slight correction--Sanford and the lady are engaged, not yet married. I agree with #11 and #52.
Any parent who would shower all forms of media, including talk shows, with intimate details of her "victimization", when the possibility of the couple´s four sons watching, reading or hearing is close to 100%, is not what I would call a good mother or a rational person.
I believe it´s highly possible that Mrs. Sanford wanted to be First Lady and was furious when Sanford told her he did not want to run for president. If that is close to the truth, then one should not be surprised that Sanford sought comfort elsewhere.
He slashed our county real estate taxes and I like him very much if only for that reason.

Forget about the infidelity or relations with his wife - this guy lied about where he was and what he was doing WHILE he was Governor. This was not just a "mistake", this is a fundamental disqualifier for him to EVER hold office again.
He has proved that whenever he faces a conflict between his personal wants and his public duty, his personal wants will win. And that he has NO PROBLEM repeatedly lying to the public about what he´s up to.
And THIS is a guy you think should be qualified for office? Let me guess, because you "believe" him when he claims he stands for "conservative values"???

Whether or not I can forgive Sanford personally has nothing to do with whether he should run on the Republican ticket. The party purports to stand for better moral values than the Democrats. It is bad enough when someone in already in office screws up. Why elect someone who lied to and cheated on his wife and who neglected his duties as governor (remember the "Appalachian trail" disappearance?) to pursue his love affair. No thanks.

On one side is the big business Washington establishment represented by K Street lobbyists and the Chamber of Commerce. In the message he issued along with his budget proposal on Wednesday morning, President Barack Obama said he wants to see 4-year-old children in the United States enrolled in public schools. Obama said America needs to start enrolling 4-year-olds to make sure the children are “better prepared for the demands of the global economy” and to help parents save on "child-care costs." In a stunning end to one of the most aggressively unsuccessful tenures in retail history, JCPenney (JCP) last night announced that CEO Ron Johnson would be leaving effective immediately. Myron Ullman, Johnson´s predecessor at JCPenney, takes office as CEO. When Johnson was initially wooed by JCPenney, it was to serve as CEO with Ullman as Chairman. In January 2012, Ullman was unceremoniously removed from the board. Gone with Ullman was any control the Board of Directors had over Ron Johnson and his control of JCPenney resources.

The state of California is reportedly considering legislation that would force group insurance policies to provide infertility treatment for gay and lesbian couples. Two men who have sex with each other for a year and do not produce a baby would be considered “infertile” under the proposed legislation. So would two women having sex. Since biology does not allow those without a uterus to conceive or those without a penis to impregnate, every year-long gay couple in California would potentially be covered by this new provision of California law.
